  • I had one done last July and I am getting another in two weeks. According to this video this person was under sudation. Wow...I wish they would do that to me. Those injections hurt like hell. The relief was wonderful. But how curel to not offer the sudation. I'm going to load up on pain meds before I go next time. I hope it makes a difference.

  • The shot worked for me but hurt like hell, they gave me a shot to numb the skin but that was it. Then the stuck that big ass needle in me, I felt everything. And was bleeding like a stuck pig.

  • You need to research these. I've gotten ELEVEN injections over a couple years. Some help. Some don't. Out of 11, 9 provided relief. Out of those 9 the longest relief was almost two weeks. The shortest was a couple days. These are not gauranteed to work to any specific level. They are to attempt help in pain management and manage a herniation. From my two years that's the most I can share with you.

  • County582

Basically it does not does anything for the disc, but the sciatic nerve and the inflammation around it.This can help the disc heal bit faster with physio or other alternative treatments

  • I got my first lumbar injection on 5-5-11 and by 5-11-11; my pain it was increasing by the hour. On 5-19-11, they did a second one on the other side saying it would help. it is now 5-26-11 and I am still in extreme! Is anyone else going through this too?. I just know my pain is 1000 times worse than it has ever been before these 2 injections, something is very wrong

  • i just got 4 of these on the same day..it hurt like a mother..but im seeing results so far.

  • If this injection works for me can my prolapsed disc heal? I want to avoid surgery obviously and get back playing sports

  • these side effects can last, but the pain is my back is worse now go figure one good week then one back week, kinda rethinking getting the third shot. please help if u can

  • then after the second shot this past monday i was in more pain then i had started these shots, and can nayone tell me please if and any side effects they are having, I have been having major hot flash, burning skin on neck chest and face (shots were done to lower back) (Kenalog/triamcinolone) serious sweating when i am laying down or asleep, can anyone please tell me they have experienced it and how long will these affects last, it kind of scares me, i looked it up but it dont say how long side

  • @kevcowboy63 any steroid will naturally increase ur body temp along wit blood pressure but not an amount to make it a health risk..but hot flashes and burning skin is a result from the steroids my suggestion would be increase your activity to a maximum without hurting your back or causing pain to not only move the steroids around your body through circulation but also to filter out the excess left overs not used in the centralized injection site

  • I had my first shot last week on a monday, then had my second one done this past monday a week later and should have another shot on the following monday after christmas. My question is this, after the first shot i felt no pain, it was great but as the day wore on i felt like crap and kept sweating and major hot flashs, they subsided after a few days

  • i hav that same doctor....he just gav me 2 injections a few weeks ago and i go to get my other 2 tommorow.....really not as bad as i thought...but stilll doesnt feel that great....im only 15 and i already hav a disc protrusion

  • this as kinda DISCUSTING LOL

  • I had this procedure done yesterday and it was a "piece of cake" . They put me to sleep with propofol, I was awake 3 minutes after the procedure and never felt a thing. Never would I let someone do this under local anesthesia! It has been 36 hours and I am already feeling relief.

  • @diriccraw lucky...i was awake and i had to get 2 only and inch from eachother on each side of my spine....im only 15 and i already hav a herniated disc which sux

  • I just had this done at 3:30pm today. I too have a herniated disk. I was proscribed Valium prior to having this done and it did NOTHING! I balled like a baby as soon as I herd the popping and cracking, both cause I was scared and it was painful. I cant begin to tell you how many times they gave me Novocain to numb the area but it also did nothing. But, I must say, SOME of my pain in my leg is gone. I am hoping it will get better as time passes.

  • @Ashleyink1990 iv got the same thing and it also did nothing....dosent it hurt when they put the steroid in...it feels like its crushing ur bones...i got 2 on the same day....i didnt cry tho....i just oood and ahhd and sayed awwwwww....that hurt

  • @oOgodisgoodOo Didnt hurt when the steroid was going in. I just felt a really cold rush down my leg which was uncomfortable. And my leg was numb for about 2 hours after.

  • @oOgodisgoodOo Oh, and BTW. It didnt work for me. I am scheduled for sugary next month.

  • @Ashleyink1990 tht sux.....i got my other one and it hasnt done anything yet

  • Had disc herniations at both L4-L5 and L5-S1...the pain will be masked but the injections however over time these herniations can lead to nerve damage. In my case the hernation was pushing on the nerve so much, my foot became numb and I had constant pain in my calf...The lumbar surgery was the best thing possible and pain was instantly removed

  • @Franchise515 hooly shit right now i have a bulging disk at s1 l4 and a herniation at s1 l5 its that fuckin painful, i cant sit down anymore and am having the same symptoms but guess what... IM 15

  • the "PRONE" position in this procedure

its funny how he says that..xDD

  • I had this done today on my L1 S5 disk . The pains still there but not as severe. The local anestetic stung just a little bit, but when the doctor was moving the steroid needle he tapped the affected nerve to confirm it was the correct one and it DID hurt, but just for 3 seconds or so. He told me to call him in 1 week and if the pain is still there I would need another shot. I start Physical therapy in a few days. He said this only mask's the pain, it does not fix the heiniation.

  • I recently had 3 of these ESI procedures within the span of just a few months. The Dr also had me on the anti-inflammatory medicine MOBIC, which I'd been taking since my injury in August of last year. In JAN this year, I had my 2nd & 3rd ESI procedures done. Did they work? HELL NO! All they did was cause a SERIOUS BLEEDING ULCER, resulting in me bleeding out at home, being transported to the E.R. by ambulance & spending a week in ICU. Am now awaiting surgery. This is NOT a "routine" procedure!

  • I had this a week ago. I can walk a little better and can get out of bed better with less pain. They gave me propofol and I don't remember anything.

  • this doesnt hurt ,there is a pressure only i had this done on friday 3-26 and they do numb the area. dont worry it takes about 5mins to do and it does help with the pain

  • im getting this tomorrow morning really scared...i want to know how painful this is? i get freaked out of things like this so i hope you understand lol pls help.

  • I have had this done on my neck and lower back. On my neck the site was not initially numbed, but on my back it was. They sprayed a local anethesia which burnt really bad. I would rather not have the spray. The procedure is not painful at all. To be direct, it feels like a balloon between your spine. That to me is very discomforting. I tend to have pain only for about 8 hrs, and it's very mild. I feel 300x better than my first visit. I recommend this to anyone with major back pain.

  • To all that have this painful for of back pain i invite you to send a personal message to OBESPRING1982 whom has sent me several messages calling me a crip and laughing that fact that people have this problem. Its disgusting in my opinion so if you feel the need let him know how you feel about people of this nature. Thank you and I all pray for you to eventually have the same result i recieved from the injections which has allowed me to have my life back.

  • It only lasts 20-30 seconds at most and then your done. It will be tender for the 24-48 hours and then hopefully in 3-7 days you feel relief. Atlest that is what i am hoping for.

  • i had this done today for a leaking L5 and a hunriated L4&5 like Nisiej im pretty young for this kind of injury at 23. I will say the procedure isnt very painful at all just discomfort. I dont see why you had this injection if this was the worst pain you ever felt tho. It didnt even come close to the back pain i feel every minute. So anyone else having this done dont worry, the Local numbing agent stings a little and then the only other discomfort is the steriods themselves

  • Sounds like you're ready to ROCK & ROLL, home boy! BWAHAHAHAAAAA!

  • its true, i got my second one yesterday and is not that bad. but honestly i havent see a big plus ) :

  • @adion33 did it help with the pain?

  • @HopeRenae for a period of time yes it did. Its been about 3 months or so now and the sleepless nights are returning, as is the constant feeling of being uncofortable in any position for longer than 3 minutes. The relief for that time period was well worth it though in my opinion.

  • @adion33 it did not work for me. I ended up having a lumbar laminectomy, which hasn't helped with the pain either.

  • I have had this today, and the pain, i couldn't bare it. It was the worst pain i've ever felt. I hope it stays with this one time injection, but i'm not sure at all, because the pain can return. But the fact is I'm only 16. It's such a horror. Having this on my age.

  • this is not painful at all, well mine wasn't... Only time I felt any pain was a quick poke and burn when the dr. injected the local to numb the area. Took a total of 5 minutes and then I was up on my feet with no complications. I did have severe lower back cramping the first day but ice packs and rest helped. The lower back pain eased up over the next couple days.

  • it is generally done before ACL reconstruction operations! there is very very huge ache after the operation for 2-3 days! it prevents this ache!

  • I saw a treatment of bee stings to the back in the areas of discomfort. I finally tried it a month ago. I thought it was Bull but my pain is sunder control. I don't recommend this unless you do your research and are ready for stings(you get use to them) or are allergic. It worked for me, The medical community needs to look into this more closely. My father is an MD and both of us were skeptical but it did worked for me. He thinks the venom goes to work on the nerves. Who knows.

  • really , you mean been venom therapy ?

  • ave a herination of my L5/S1 disc. I have had one steriod injection and about weeks later i started to get all the syptoms back even the sciatica i was suffering from. To top it all off its worlk related but work have knocked my claim back and now i have no job and no income. I have at least a 6months wait on a public waiting list for another steriod injection. The pain is something i wouldnt wish on my worst enemy! Anybody have any suggestions??

  • In Closing.

I get my procedure done at a pain clinic so I don't have to deal with the Hospitals rules such as having an escort to drive you home, anastisha, and long waits. From the time I walk in the front door until I leave takes about 20 minutes barring complications.

  • Seriously? I thought they did this under sedation? Well I hope they flippin do!

  • I get this done once a month.

One time they missed the epidural membrane and punctured my spinal chord causing a pressure loss and major spinal headaches. They had to perform a blood patch which requires them to pull 20-30cc of blood from your hand/arm and slowly inject the blood on top of the spinal chord until the blood coagulates and closes the hole. EEEKKKK!

The major headach went away after about an hour and had minor headaches for about a week or so but not bad.

  • Did you say they accidentally missed the epidural membrane and punctured your spinal chord?!?! You should be careful where you get this procedure done, a spinal cord is delicate yet resilient 'extension of your brain'. Be cautious injecting steroid, it has many bad side-effects on the rest of the body.

  • Overall,

I was also told by many doctors (collected 18 doctor's business cards) that this injection and surgery where "inevitable". And that I would never "walk without pain if i did not get the procedures done". However, since then I have hiked up the Swiss Alps and various Mts. in Hong Kong. Don't let Doctors bully you into invasive procedures, do your research before hand. Ask questions and find-out if certain procedures will eliminate the root of problem.

  • i got this done today! let me tell u something! it hurt like a mofo! cus i got it shot at the top of my butt gap.

  • please try ot to be afraid - i had mie done friday last 27 june 2009, its not pleasant but anything is better than the pain you have to go through when you have scaitica.

  • i operate the fluoro during procedures like this and it is usually fast and painless for the patient... well except for the first local injection, after that its smooth sailing : )

  • If anyone knows a place in Toronto Canada that uses fluoroscope let me know thanks.

  • I am having this done on Thursday and I am scared to death...I have been in SO much pain for over a month now and I know if the shots don't work I will have to get surgery done.

  • :( i'm having this done on tuesday im sooooo scared

  • I have been offered one of these for spinal stenosis, but I am shitting bricks, but then if I did it would postpone the op for a bit longer, I guess I have a big decision to make then

  • I had one done yesterday, the last one in a series of three and I just wanted to see what they're actually doing while I'm laying face down. I have 2 herniated disks and let me tell you it hurts like a mother, specially when they inject the actual steroid (that's why they strap your legs down before the procedure). In the end though, I rather a couple of minutes of pain than months of scruciating lower back and leg pain.

  • I never had my legs strapped down, nor did I receive sedation. I have four ruptured discs.. Funny how practitioners vary in the way they treat patients

  • I have had them done. They are not painful. The only thing you feel is a quick sting while the anestesia is injected. I was also sedated through an IV, which helped. The herniated discs are a lot more painful.

  • yikes.

  • ouchh?
