If there was a program where you'd help communities or something... do odd jobs... they'd give you free housing/food/water in exchange for your work... that might be kool. I think JFK talked about something like this - but I forget the name of it. It might be kind of kool, especially for youth. It might save a lot of money. You wouldn't be taught how to use a gun, and you wouldn't have to worry about the moral implications of shooting someone or helping a cosoldier shoot someone.
