La Paloma in Adam Aston rendition was the favourite song of my greatgrandmother. As she died 30 years before I was born, I know the fact only from her daughter - my grandmother stories.
I'm really curious, where did you get a recording that is so old, yet has no record crackle and pop noises ?!?!?!? Too bad it transferred hear to YouTube at such a low volume.
This tango, in Spanish, is a love song. The refrain means: "If at your window there should appear a dove, treat it with tenderness, for it is myself. Tell it of your loves, O good of my life; crown it with flowers for it is from me."
One of my father's favorite songs; he would often sing it in Spanish. Wonderful that Aston has recorded it. The Uruguay checkpoint adds just the right touch of irony.
Who ever you are, go on telling the world this / your story. This voice indescredible, but unheeard. Make people hear it. Go on working.
Good luck

una Paloma,
trátala con cariño
que es mi persona..."

This is just beautiful. Absolutely lovely!. The vocalist sings it with such passion that it becomes rather emotional.
I thank you so much for sharing this treasure.

Reminds me of Kaytn: a dove caught between two of the most voracious eagles, one Christian and the other Atheist ...!

Today it is Yradier's birthday, the composer of this beautiful song. I love how this singer gives the sweet sound and words.

The song is not about a lighthouse or a church. It is about a dove.

I've also loved this song since my childhood. First time in Polish, and enjoying Aston's singing.
