Did The Seatbelts ever give credit to Imperial Drag for using the music from "Zodiac Sign" for this song? Imperial Drag's album was released in 1996, and the soundtrack for the second volume of "Cowboy BeBop" that this version of the song comes from was released in 1998.
A lot of people lose their accent when they sing...I've never heard her speak in an interview; is she Japanese American or born in Japan? Anybody know?
I never paid attention to the lyrics when I first heard this because the rest of it is so upbeat and fun, but after I did, I was laughing my ass off. XD This pretty much has it all.
""I couldnt take u 2 miami... so i took u to the movie had some blue hawai on the beach""?????? Isnt that supposed to b like "I couldnt take u 2 miami... i took u to ocean and we had some blue hawais on the beach" ???? Correct if im wrong but that's what the original song says...
I love this song! Anyway, I never thought the singer is a female (so as the song "Blue"). The lyric is kinda "manly-man-talk-to-girl" and her voice is so deep. Still, Mai Yamane, Yoko Kanno the Seatbelts band are so cool!
Yeah, I've heard all that, I'm so happy that there are more tracks on here. I love live music, I love Kanno Yoko, and after hearing Mai Yamane live, I love her too. FROM A DIE HARD FAN, THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!
These two are musical gods. This is a dope video.

@TheHappyShow checked that other song. It's the same basic riff for sure but Kanno really turned it into something extraordinary

Her voice is so jazzy. I'm a big fan of The Seatbelts. They make the soul of the Cowboy Bebop series.

She looks like one of the old-school jazz singers. Just got that classic beauty about her and she's got a good sound to her.

mai's voice isn't man-ish, it's just soulful D: perfect for the blues, hence the real folk blues i guess XD

Is Mai bilingual, does anyone know? She barely has any accent when she sings, and I just wondered. Love her voice!!

One of the best composers, one of the best backing bands and the best japanese singer in a really great song.. It's just too awesome.

I think she might've accidentally used part of the previous verse.. I imagine its really easy to do in a live performance.
