Wow... I don't know what that dude's talking about but in full motion it sounds perfect... You even have the motions down...hahah awesome... I've watched that video well over, (who cares amount of times...) It's my favorite of all time... And I would say that lick pretty much perfect... I don't know about the full breakdown but he sure shows people the road to glory... Well done sir... Well Done...
Awsome! Thanks for the lesson! Can you do the part he plays behind his back next?....with the tabs written in mirror image if it's not too much trouble, please.
I am curious- how did you learn these riffs. Its so much nicer to have someone like you to show it, mainly becasues my ears are shot for listening to the song and rewinding while tring to pick out the notes.
Dude you are the man! Thank you so much for posted all of this stuff, I've been locked by my computer all weekend watching all of your videos. I've been playing for years and you have opened up the guitar in a clear and simple way for SRV style!! I thought I was an SRV addict! You..are not only obsessed you actually play and share SRV!! AWESOME!!
Today I gave this riff a try. I wached the whole vid and at the end I expected that all 7 riffs would come slowed down. But then you played it again on full speed and I just though.... 'OMFGIH' I have a long way to go.
But I now know the whole thing slowed down so... I wil keep playing it now till I can do it on full speed. I think its a very nice vid and very good that u can teach a riff like that in only 9:34 min. Thanx, really.
I kind of got it down. I can play it, but just at the speed that you instruct it when you go through it slowly. So I've got the notes down, now for the speed!
i absolutely love this vid my man. its so tough pickin out all the notes... speaking of which, i've been struggling with lenny, from el mocambo. there is one riff that blows my head clean off, and i cannot seem to find all of the notes. if you look at the video here on youtube thats 8:57 min long, the riff i'm referring to starts at about 7:37... if you can help me out thatd be great. thanks for the vids!
Bloody Awesome Anthony! I can see your improving even more than before, which was excellent....now your awesome-er, Ha ha....Love to meet you one day.
i know what ill be doing for the next few months...
the video for this is absolutely rediculous. i am a HUGE srv fan, and this is by far his best performance. when he goes behind his back, i want to cry. his emotion is unmatched. it really bugs me when people overlook him as being the greatest guitar ever. (which he is) there isn't anything he couldn't do on a guitar. he easily covered hendrix riffs that were thought to be unmatchable.( he was also a really special person
hey my name is chaundee the stevie inspired me to learn the guitar..which is what i am trying to do..it is soo hard to do it by myself but i have been watching your vids and everything is starting to make sense i hope to be the best female blues guitarist out there one day and you are helping me along the way...by the way you are very good at playing guitar...the closest iv ever seen anyone get to playing just like srv keep up the good work and so will i..i cant wait for you to teach me more...
Hey stratdaddy (great name by the way), you can find out more about my tone/gear over at the site: StevieSnacks (dot) com, I've got a couple amp demos there that you can check out with settings for all my gear.
i cannot explain into words how great this version of texas flood is, SO GOOD!...one of my favorite parts too that ur showing.
Gr8bluesgtr and anyone if you like the blues go check out Mauro Hector he's from brazil and he is right now my favorite guitarist he's on youtube check it...
You exactly caught up the most impressive Moment from the el mocambo gig. But there is another great run on texas flood where Stevie plays around the G9 on the tenth fret - like Jimi does on red house... do you know which part I mean???
Started learning it in college 10 years ago, thought I knew it for many years, when preparing for this lesson, took me an hour of close study to iron out the missed notes.
very, very nice...you really helped me with that little Albert King lick...If I'm not mistaken, he plays another variation of it on the studio version...
I really don't know how you could have ever possibly picked out all those notes. I bet Stevie himself would be hard pressed to play that same lick acurately without sitting down and figuring it out first.
thats not a riff just so you know. when you break down a part of a solo like that, its actually a called a lick. its something you can use in any solo you want. a riff is something that would be only played for that one song. like the riff for say heartbreaker by led zeppelin. you wouldnt play that in a solo. just saying. cool vid though.
WOW WOW WOW ....no shit that deserves a standing ovation just figuring that out!! Holy Shit!! Nice editing. Love it and thank you for the over the shoulder camera shots ...much easier to follow in guitar minds.
Hey again, I've been trying to figure this thing out forever?! 9 1/2 minutes later its in the bag!! Thanks a million! Not to get greedy, and I know its not a really popular SRV song, but any chance of a "Life Without You" lesson????

@ktcrojcat Stevie would drop tune to Em and he would use 0-10's :)

@NealChriz nope, he would tune down to Eb, and use .13 - .64's

@NealChriz a 0 gauge string, isnt that just thin air?
