  • SRV was such a monster.

  • Maybe a Stevie feast? I don't know about a snack...

  • Wow... I don't know what that dude's talking about but in full motion it sounds perfect... You even have the motions down...hahah awesome... I've watched that video well over, (who cares amount of times...) It's my favorite of all time... And I would say that lick pretty much perfect... I don't know about the full breakdown but he sure shows people the road to glory... Well done sir... Well Done...

  • i love the way you play srv and thx 4 your lessons :)

  • I'm sure this would sound great live. Just a bad sound recording.

  • I can't play anything, but now I can play everything a little bit better, thank you Anthony for all your posts.

  • Thank you kindly for your videos and lessons you have helped my playing as well as my passion for music more than you will ever know!

  • It's incredible, how could he improvise that!!

  • i thought that was very good :)

  • This is really a MONSTER lick :D

  • My friend...you have got this whole stevie thing nailed down. You rock brother.

  • Awsome! Thanks for the lesson! Can you do the part he plays behind his back next?....with the tabs written in mirror image if it's not too much trouble, please.

  • excellent !

  • Dude, thank you so much. I...I love you

  • Excellent dude. Thanks for breaking this stuff down.

  • you rock. period. love watching all your vidz.

  • I think is good job, and you help me with this lick. And you play very, very well, (sorry my english..., ha!"

    God Bless

  • I think is good job, and you help me with this lick. And you play very, very well, (sorry my english..., ha!"

    God Bless

  • that was perfect......just replay the portion you don't understand...over and over...

  • Great snack there bro...keep'em coming...my appetite is getting bigger :):):)

    myspace thesrvexperience

  • I am curious- how did you learn these riffs. Its so much nicer to have someone like you to show it, mainly becasues my ears are shot for listening to the song and rewinding while tring to pick out the notes.

  • Dude you are the man! Thank you so much for posted all of this stuff, I've been locked by my computer all weekend watching all of your videos. I've been playing for years and you have opened up the guitar in a clear and simple way for SRV style!! I thought I was an SRV addict! You..are not only obsessed you actually play and share SRV!! AWESOME!!

  • hey im a big fan of your videos and i was wondering what gauge strings you use to get that stevie sound.

  • @ktcrojcat Stevie would drop tune to Em and he would use 0-10's :)

  • @NealChriz nope, he would tune down to Eb, and use .13 - .64's

  • @NealChriz a 0 gauge string, isnt that just thin air?

  • Today I gave this riff a try. I wached the whole vid and at the end I expected that all 7 riffs would come slowed down. But then you played it again on full speed and I just though.... 'OMFGIH' I have a long way to go.

But I now know the whole thing slowed down so... I wil keep playing it now till I can do it on full speed. I think its a very nice vid and very good that u can teach a riff like that in only 9:34 min. Thanx, really.

  • The results are in. That lick is a monster.

  • man this is cool... thanks!

  • I kind of got it down. I can play it, but just at the speed that you instruct it when you go through it slowly. So I've got the notes down, now for the speed!

  • Stevie Snacks rules! And I would venture to say that Live at El Mocambo is SRV's greatest performance.

  • haha i swear ive been trying to learn this for 3 weeks now

  • me2

  • u played that lick so fast my laptop crashed

  • That's the funniest comment I've ever gotten.

  • Hey its eric clapton mixed with tom green, thts awesome. Kickass playing

  • baaaahahahahahahaha

  • I'm not either of those guys, I'm Hedo Tukoglu.

  • The NBA player!? hAHAHA!! yeah!!! Definetly!

By the way, thanks for the help with the tremolo question on facebook anthony!

  • @gr8bluesgtr lol

  • @gr8bluesgtr u look like hedo turkoglu more than anyone

  • @gr8bluesgtr HEDOOOO

  • holy.... crap...

  • oh, must be so fun to be able to play like that!

  • shew weeee!!! Awesome playing!

  • i absolutely love this vid my man. its so tough pickin out all the notes... speaking of which, i've been struggling with lenny, from el mocambo. there is one riff that blows my head clean off, and i cannot seem to find all of the notes. if you look at the video here on youtube thats 8:57 min long, the riff i'm referring to starts at about 7:37... if you can help me out thatd be great. thanks for the vids!

  • No one can ever play like Stevie Ray Vaughan did, but your pretty damn close.Keep the videos coming.

  • I am 15 and thanks to you i can play some stevie´s songs...

    :)

    keep like this!

  • wow, that's a monster! great job

  • God your good!

  • Awesome! Thanks for doing this!

  • Holy shit that is a monster. I can hear a Page influence in that (Heartbreaker).

  • Can you please tell me what guitar are you using?

  • For this lesson I'm using a Don Grosh Retro Classic.

  • Thanx for this vid man, you're a brill Insparation!!!

    Keep on Rocking!!!

  • I'm going to attempt this. Probably going to fail, but hey I'll give it a shot.

  • Failing is a great way to learn :) Just imagine finding out you've been playing it wrong on stage for 10 years...hehe

  • I don't think anyone really notices mistakes on something like this. They're in too much awe to care about mistakes.

  • Bloody Awesome Anthony! I can see your improving even more than before, which was excellent....now your awesome-er, Ha ha....Love to meet you one day.

P.S. Is that a new Axe?

  • Hey, great playing. I appreciate you doing all the hard work for me! haha Thanks again.

  • i know what ill be doing for the next few months...

the video for this is absolutely rediculous. i am a HUGE srv fan, and this is by far his best performance. when he goes behind his back, i want to cry. his emotion is unmatched. it really bugs me when people overlook him as being the greatest guitar ever. (which he is) there isn't anything he couldn't do on a guitar. he easily covered hendrix riffs that were thought to be unmatchable.( he was also a really special person

    RIP stevie

    btw nice job

  • I agree :)

  • You are so right iliketotubeyou!

    BTW great lesson....

  • cool

  • hey my name is chaundee the stevie inspired me to learn the guitar..which is what i am trying to do..it is soo hard to do it by myself but i have been watching your vids and everything is starting to make sense i hope to be the best female blues guitarist out there one day and you are helping me along the way...by the way you are very good at playing guitar...the closest iv ever seen anyone get to playing just like srv keep up the good work and so will i..i cant wait for you to teach me more...

  • I wish you the best and I'd be honored to assist you in your quest. The world could use more good female guitar players.

  • oh my god i love how your just attacking the guitar

  • I pretend like it's trying to fight me....

  • how are you getting that sound?

  • Hey stratdaddy (great name by the way), you can find out more about my tone/gear over at the site: StevieSnacks (dot) com, I've got a couple amp demos there that you can check out with settings for all my gear.

  • i cannot explain into words how great this version of texas flood is, SO GOOD!...one of my favorite parts too that ur showing.

Gr8bluesgtr and anyone if you like the blues go check out Mauro Hector he's from brazil and he is right now my favorite guitarist he's on youtube check it...

  • You exactly caught up the most impressive Moment from the el mocambo gig. But there is another great run on texas flood where Stevie plays around the G9 on the tenth fret - like Jimi does on red house... do you know which part I mean???

  • I think I know exactly where you're talking about, is this during the 5-4-1 walkdown of the opening chorus?

  • You are a good tutor showing the elements in an easy to understand manner - good work, mate!

  • Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.

  • Simply fantastic thanks

  • You're welcome.

  • helped me very much, thanks!!

  • Glad it helped.

  • (gr8bluesgtr) how long did it take you to master that

  • Started learning it in college 10 years ago, thought I knew it for many years, when preparing for this lesson, took me an hour of close study to iron out the missed notes.

  • amazing

  • BTW - I didn't know that Tom Green played guitar so well. HAHAHA! jk

  • Now that's funny :) I have heard before that I look like him....

  • Your left hand has more power in it than the Sun of our universe.

  • ...just laughing at that comment...

  • very, very nice...you really helped me with that little Albert King lick...If I'm not mistaken, he plays another variation of it on the studio version...

  • haha stevie snacks, i love it! well done

  • I really don't know how you could have ever possibly picked out all those notes. I bet Stevie himself would be hard pressed to play that same lick acurately without sitting down and figuring it out first.

  • hey man great lesson, i love stevie ray vaughan, you sound great an d the lesson really helped a lot, thanx dude !!!

  • I really do hear SRV yeah, very nice

  • thats not a riff just so you know. when you break down a part of a solo like that, its actually a called a lick. its something you can use in any solo you want. a riff is something that would be only played for that one song. like the riff for say heartbreaker by led zeppelin. you wouldnt play that in a solo. just saying. cool vid though.

  • Wow.

  • hes right :\

  • Hey thats great man..Fuckin great..thats soul

  • lol im just saying. i dont mean to come off like a dick or anything.

  • I would've said the same thing, but...he's right. :D Love your playing man, keep em' coming. :D

  • Blessed is right, dude.... powerful player you are !

  • Eb right? awesome riff as well as Steve plays in concert... lol wut number is your string...

  • man thats some amazing stuff

  • WOW WOW WOW ....no shit that deserves a standing ovation just figuring that out!! Holy Shit!! Nice editing. Love it and thank you for the over the shoulder camera shots ...much easier to follow in guitar minds.

  • its damn hard riff!

great playing man, thx for all the videos, very useful.

  • What tuning is this??

  • tuned down half a step to Eflat

  • Thanks dude. Very nice playing and a good lesson.

  • OUTSTANDING JOB! THANK YOU!

  • damn how does someone learn that.

  • By sitting in front of a CD player for years between classes in college, listening to 3 notes at a time, over and over and over and over.....hehe

  • it payed off.

  • Thank God, it just about drove me crazy :)

  • Long Live Stevie! I touch the rock at Alpine everytime I am there . . . The Sky was cry'in

  • Good stuff man!

  • Thanks for showing from the correct view for a player.

  • RIP SRV. I looked at the website and voted. I wa suprised that nobody voted for Say What. I would love to play that song.

  • good playin, post a vid of somethin you have written

  • I've got some videos of my band up under my other playlist "Holy Smoke Blues". Some of the songs are originals.

  • Wow. Thats Insane. Great Job, thanks for showing us that.

  • killer playin man...

    Keep it coming!

  • Hey again, I've been trying to figure this thing out forever?! 9 1/2 minutes later its in the bag!! Thanks a million! Not to get greedy, and I know its not a really popular SRV song, but any chance of a "Life Without You" lesson????

  • I love that song. I'm taking a poll right now over at the website to see what's got the most interested. I was starting to wonder if anyone liked that song. I love it because it shows Stevie's versatility mixing up the normal blues and more melodic soloing.

  • Cool. Well I hope it ranks high on the list...great use of the neck from tip to stern~ and as far a double stops and nifty bits I think it's one of his best. And when he kicks in the TS at about 3:06... just awesome.

  • Which recording? Live or CD version?

  • these stevie snacks are great. thanks for takin the time to do these!

  • Tab for that?

  • I'm working on a way to generate tab. Can't seem to figure out what software would be best.

  • imo guitar pro is the best way to tab... not that ive tried others but guitar pro works perfectly. great playing by the way :)

  • insane. new guitar new licks. Woo thanks for postin this one! If i find anymore good ones on youtube ill hit you up!

  • Ya man that IS an AWESOME riff! Great job pullin' it off! Thanks for this!
