Is has helped me understand alot more about it but one question is when you swing though do u go on ur toe pick and jump or just swing though and jump? X
hey, i tried the salchow for the first time 4 days ago and i ended up with my head smashing against the ice and knocking me out. I find it really difficult to go from the three turn to the kick through, do you have any tips which could help me? Thankyou and the rest of your videos are really helpful by the way :) x
Your videos are really helpful..i'll have to try and not dip my back when landing my jumps. Erm..im starting to learn my salchow jump this week and i've tried before in practises, but so far got nowhere - i can't seem to actually 'jump' haha, like from the back glide off the three turn so im stuck. Is there any more advice for that? I'm a clockwise skater by the way - jump on right leg, land on left. thanks :)
@TabulaRasaVSInherent I probably said 'kick through' or something to do with a 'half turn', but it's the same thing. I can't remember exactly what I say in this video, but I know that I mention the 'half turn' in the double salchow video.
thanks for the great salchow instructions! I think this video has been the most informative I've found. I have a question though since different websites I've checked seem to have varying descriptions of what to do with the free leg... What is your take on whether you scoop through with your right leg (foot turned out) or if you lead with your knee (like when you're kicking through for a waltz)
thanks! I'm happy to hear that because I definitely feel I have more control over the edges when I lead with my knee but I didn't want to get too comfortable doing it if it was wrong!
ok, I am seriously considering giving up because of the salchow. When I do the three turn I'm stuck, I can't jump and when I try to my blade goes all weird and trips me up! Help needed and ASAP!
You can do axels, right? Try it slow motion, three turn, than an other turn,so you go forward again, and than comes the axel just imitate it, dont jump(you probably not gonna have enough speed.)
They thought it to me this way: We stand in front of the boards. We grabbed them and we helped our rotation that way.Now when we turned backwards, we jumped an axel... And we put the three turn only when we did okay with this exercise(arm, leg position, speed, etc..)
I hope it helps. Im not a professional, so this might not be anything new to you, but please tell me if anything worked (or you did not understand'cause of my bad english:D) Good luck!!!
What I dont get is, my friends taught me how to do it but she sed you do kind of a one foot spin (just one rotation) then another rotation on your toe pick, then you jump, is that rght, also which will be easier?
were i live there's alpha beta gamma. Theres different "levels " uhm.. im in the very very beginning on the levels and im trying to learn jumps it doesnt matter what sort yoru in if you can understand what there saying you will get it :] good luck :]
Hey my name is luke and i have been doing ice skating since last june and am on the nisa level 10 and also in the academy i can to the free jump now thanks to you and i am learning the salchow you have realy helped me by the videos you have made and was woundering if you have any tips how to make my spiral better ? get back to me please if you would thanks x
Not yet, I skated for about 15 minutes on Friday and it was okay but I still really struggle with getting any knee bend in my boot, so I could just about land up to flip, and do a scratch spin, but that's about it. I missed skating today and yesterday :(

...or like stepping up for an axel?
rosesofsunshine3 2 years ago
I would personally advise you to lead with the knee, but technique can vary depending on the skater.

Your friend is wrong, there is no spinning involved. There is just a 3 turn.

Hi like, I'm a little confused. In NISA 10, you should be executing triple jumps, not free jumps and salchows. Do you mean Skate UK level 10?
Gina10179202 2 years ago
Oops, sorry! I meant Luke, not like.
Gina10179202 2 years ago
He probebly does lol, isn't 3 jumps like skate uk silver?
