I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry modern fuels, use 1:100 two stroke oil / mix as regualar driving fuel that keeps the old gaskets and metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions.
Most Porsche 911 vintage owners in Germany do so :)
Im not sure how this explains that a new Dino is on the way. The Dino was a six cylinder, mid engined car, the one on the test track is anything but that.
This is a 599 test mule for the F149's engine and drive train. During these tests, the engineering telemetry is measuring the direct-injection and thottle body positions.
Questa FERRARI ha una scocca anteriore molto simile a quella della 612 scaglietti, con piu cavalli e maggiore tenuta di strada. Anche se non ho ancora capito quale propulsore usano per questo V8 ke e una potenza
Well...it may (or may not be) the exact 599 chassis but it's definitely the v12 that the 599 uses. It's not even a flat crack v8 (430) but rather a 90 degree crank v8 hence the "American" v8 rumble. Those with a smart ear for engines will know what I'm talking about.
Yeah I would say as well..its the 599 on some test drives...the Dino is supposed to look different...the Dino wont be a frond-mid engine...it will be a rear mid engine...and it wont have a V 12 like the 599...cant You hear the sound...thats no 6 cylinder...thats the engine from the Enzo...which is used in the 599 as well...
I never thought Ferrari has such limited design ideas...if thats the Dino...its just a lookalike for a smaller budget...in my opinion thats pretty poor decision...
I hope Fiat isnt trying to use that tool box and spar-eparts procedure with Ferrari as well...I mean same frontlights and rear lights through all the variants...and the same seats as in the Alfa Brera...I hope thats not the company´s politics for Ferrari...that would be the beginning of the end...
the car is a test mule, obviously they aren't gonna charge you more than 120.000€ for a disguised Fiat. it's using that kind of parts just for camouflage, you know hiding the car from competitors.
Its definitely a test mule for F149 (ferraris code name for for the new 2+2 set to debut at the Paris motor show this year and first cars to be delivered Jan 09 with a steady flow from March 09. Drop1313 aka fag.
I do not think that the Dino will loook as much as the 599 it is covered up to be in the test-period. We'll just have to wait and see what features it'll carry from the original Dino. Love this clip by the way! Totally agree on the v8-sound! One of the most exciting Ferraris in many years!
And it doesn't sound like a flat crank V8 like they use in the F430. Could possibly be the V8 they have used in the Maserati for awhile which I know is a 90 degree crank, but I believe is the same block and everything as the F355, 360, and F430.
The new dino was hoped to be an entry level car simular to a porsche cayman. something small, spirited and a sheer money making machine. But ferrari, knowing it could never handle the volume of orders And maintenance stuff, must go with something Most people Cant afford. so the dino will cost around 120k not to mention it will perform better than they anticipate.
The former Dino was built in the Ferrari factory and the Dino 6 engine was designed by Ferrari. Fiat built the engines in high numbers for use in Fiats and Dino's so Enzo could continue to race group B cars.
The new dino is based on the fiorano. look closely at the hood of this car. it has vents/grilles on the front of the hood above the white camo. this is the Dino alright!
crappy sounding brakes but the engine has a nice sound to it despite the fact that it might be american. it has a healthy rumble and sounds beautiful.
Ferrari is testing a front engined v8 car? I thought the dino was going to be mid-engined (if they decided to build it). Maserati already makes a fine f/e v8, whats this about
The Dino is the predecessor to the 288 308 family and those in turn are ancestors of the F430. So I don't think that they would call this car here a Dino.
It looks like a 599 but look to it closely... the front wheels are placed a bit more thowards the windsreen (mounted further back), the car is lower and that's the sound of a V8...
I love Ferraris, but a totally stock Z06 would walk this for a third of the money. Hard to tell with the shrouding but a nice continuation of the series...
jaffarookie and robertmaiers, of course it's not the 599; just look at the title of the video. It says Ferrari Dino Spied. The Dino... get it? It's the new entry level Ferrari.
Sorry, but there's room for a cheaper model car. Lets say at 150K dollars, this model will sell like always to Ferrari people with a relationship with their particular dealer and with the used car markup it will be over 200k dollars, it will not hurt Ferraris reputation at all.
What people? How many cars do you see running around everyday that costs 150k dollars plus? I have to say that the new Scuderia is got an msrp that not even I could have expected. I turned down the offer to get on the list for it and wait for the replacement of the F430 which right now I can't stop driving around. The next car will have quite a large bump in price, so I see that a cheaper model could exist, but I think a little higher than 150k dollars now.
i think big money is part of what makes ferrari what it is. yes are overpriced and frankly i think that everyone agrees to some extent that they are getting ugly.
Thats a 599 body but its not the running gear of one, look at the wheel base and the track of the wheels, it 's too small for a 599, it has to be some sort of new car in the pipeline
Luca Di Montezemolo, CEO of Fiat and thus Ferrari said there will be no Dino as making a "cheap" Ferrari is a paradox and goes against what the company stands for.
That is a 599 GTB Fiorano...old fotage. Why would Ferrari have the same shape car with a Diff engine size? this is Ferrari were talking about...not a Honda accord...
This is not a future Dino and Ferrari will never make a Dino. They will not make a 6 cyliner "low end" Ferrari again, no matter how beautiful the bodywork of the original was.

I'm sure though, they have plans to improve the overall appearance of the car.
SSC Ultimate Aero is an overpowered drag racer that handles like shit, pretty much any car from the ferrari range would destroy that thing on a track. You know nothing, your obviously an American; more horsepower/torque doesnt equal a better car. Similar to bigger army doesnt equal better army, just more of your fools getting blown up.
and whoever said it wasn't being pushed...........it obviously is, as you can see as it enters and exits the second karousel, the car almost bottoms out as it pushes on the banked surface, as well as the screeching of tyres....car manufacturer test drivers are some of the most skilled in the world. you fairy.
shows how much you know about cars you n00b - this car is a ferrari test 'mule' as they are known, testing at nurburgring. its probably using the new dino underpinnings and drivetrain, but it's in a 599 GTB disguise body, which has been shortened as the dino is a much shorter wheelbase car - which is why it looks so odd. you moron.
LOOK AT THE WHEELBASE! It's MUCH narrower than a 599. Its plainly obviously this is a small Ferrari test bed -- which makes it highly likely 2 be the new Dino. The new Dino is rumoured 2 have a front mounted V8, making the 599 an excellent platform 2 test on.
2 all those people saying "that car is not even being pushed lol" would you push an early preproduction Ferrari mule? If u're not intelligent enough 2 post, please keep ur comments 2 yourself.
Mule. The rear arches are covered so it won't show that they are smaller than the 599's. The car also sits higher from the ground than the 599, hence a lighter engine. Compare with real 599 videos, it wobbles a lot more on high speed corners. This one sits neatly. The Fiorano Handling Pack would make it actually lower, not higher.
My name is Luigi Maldini - I am assistant test driver at Moderna test facility. The engine in this particular Ferrari is the quattro CV Superiori prototype.
It is basically four Citroen CV engines welded together - and supercharged with a very large.....how you say....elastico band..!

shows how much you know about cars you n00b - this car is a ferrari test 'mule' as they are known, testing at nurburgring. its probably using the new dino underpinnings and drivetrain, but it's in a 599 GTB disguise body, which has been shortened as the dino is a much shorter wheelbase car - which is why it looks so odd.

If u're not intelligent enough 2 post, please keep ur comments 2 yourself.

what price bracket would it be in, between the 599 and F430?
Camelot15mill 4 years ago

Looks like a 599. The 599 sucks. An italian sports car with a FR engine setup is gay.

My name is Luigi Maldini - I am assistant test driver at Moderna test facility. The engine in this particular Ferrari is the quattro CV Superiori prototype.
It is basically four Citroen CV engines welded together - and supercharged with a very large.....how you say....elastico band..!
Everyone's a Ferrari expert....lol

It's shorter than the 599.
Just a concept using 599's body.
It wouldn't be very aerodynamic if it was driving without one would it?
And then something else; do you people atually think it was going all out when that mercedes passed by.
