The first T&S album I listened to was Sainthood. It was all I wanted in a pop album. Every song was killer, they had more than one vocalist (something I really like in a band), and the songs were just dripping with emotion that even I could feel. After listening the hell out of that, I went on to The Con. It was all that and better. Last night I had a dream where I was listening to an awesome T&S song I never heard before. Today, I looked through my albums and found this. Thank you, dreams.
Yes, their old stuff is amazing. But I still feel that their new stuff isn't bad. I still think that Tegan and Sara have a lot of concept in their music. All of it. Compared to Ke$ha talking about boos and Katy Perry about aliens.
I just watched an interview and she did say she would never play this song live again. I don't think it's because it's awful or she hates it or anything, but they tour so much that these songs get old. and I've noticed that EVERY album has a different sound. I think that they just enjoy changing and not constantly having the same sound. The Con is an amazing album and so full of emotion. I watched a video of Tegan singing Soil, Soil and she is choking back tears the whole time. They are amazing
Well we can't stop musicians/artists from evolving/revising their craft. I think Tegan and Sara are also doing that. We as fans just have to be there for them as they go through the process.
@strongwombyn Well, Tegan's voice is raspy and lower, while Sara's is kind of higher pitched. It is kind of hard to tell the difference in the older songs though. hah.
@strongwombyn tegan is singing lead sara is doing back up and i kinda disagree with Sara having a higher pitched voice maybe in this song yes but Sara def has a lower voice which is super sexy i think but she can def get up with her vocals too. if u check out this one youtube vid. Tegan trys singing lead on alligator kinda didn't work with her voice lol. just type in tegan and sara tegan sings alligator
I love Tegan and Sara's old stuff. They used to have a message to their music. Now their music consists of 3 lines repeated over and over. They have lost all their depth. They may have progressed in their guitar playing but their song writing has regressed. I stopped listening to them 2 or 3 albums ago. And yes, they hardly play their old stuff, their good stuff, that got them to where they are now. You'd think they would pay some tribute to their oldest fans.
@rileysproudmomma You got a point in there! I totally love their older stuff, especially Red and Yellow demo tapes. I love songs like "This Is Everything", "Heavy" and "Clever Meals" from UFLO. Sure, their newest songs are nice to hear too, they are more professional and kinda rockish (specially Tegan´s songs), but I think they miss something. They are still good, though. And it is what they want to do, they really like that music. They don´t seem to like their oldest stuff anymore.
@Annhilate Agreed :) They sound better. But there is a lot of music out there that SOUNDS good. ALOT! I think to set yourself apart your music needs to connect on some meaningful level. Which is why they are so big now... People have no souls :P haha. Thanks for sharing this song though. One of the oldies and the goodies!
@rileysproudmomma I totally agree with you but I must say I still love them and keep getting their records as they are released. As a huge fan I still prefer the old Tee and Ess though, totally.
@Tegan166 That's cool that you continue to support them. For me what drew me to them were their strong lyrics of empowerment and their raw sound. So as you can imagine I have no draw to them anymore. Then again they used to be in the folk section and now you can find them in pop-rock. Oh well! Bands change and grow. C'est la vie. I guess I just miss this... :)
@rileysproudmomma I couldn't disagree more. I can't say you're wrong, because the message in a song comes in part from what meaning you find in it. So if you think their newer music doesn't have meaning, then apparently you just aren't putting any thought into it. Anyway, they've always written about similar subjects. As far as their songwriting, it definitely has NOT regressed.
@VWpanic1 And by that logic, I could just as easily find meaning in a Britney Spears song or a Kesha song... I would say the theme in just about any recent Tegan and Sara song is love. They used to sing about freedom, passion and their memories... They used to tell a story. But thats just my opinion. Certainly you are entitled to your own, and if their new stuff has meaning for you, then all the power to you. Alot of people like their new pop sound.
@rileysproudmomma By "old stuff", I assume you mean UFLO, TBoA, and IIWY. But what's Frozen about? My Number? Without You, And Darling, Not Tonight, I Hear Noises, Living Room, Come On, etc. Sure you could argue they aren't, but seems to me like they're about love. If anything, I like their newer "pop sound" because it's more honest and they have more experience. They found their sound, their niche. Not that I don't like their older music. I love it all (I came here to hear this song, right?).
@VWpanic1 No need to nitpick... I never said they didn't sing about love. I said they sang about other things, not JUST love. There is more to life than love. But anyways, I'm glad they still have fans and that they are still doing well. I hope you continue to enjoy and support them for years to come.
@rileysproudmomma i also love their old stuff, but i think that their new stuff is good, too. they haven't lost their depth. they've just found new and creative ways to express their selves in their songs. the ocean, and northshore, i think they are good examples.
@rwmagbag I'm glad you think that but I couldn't disagree with you more. But we shall simply have to agree to disagree. And as I've said I'm happy T & S still have their fans. I don't like their new stuff but I still wish them well.
@rileysproudmomma i can see where you are coming from, and i totally respect your opinion. i respect you even more that you weren't rude replying back. thank you for not getting all offended. this band is a big element of my life now, they are in the choices i make and the things i say. sometimes i see things and just start to type what is in my head, and sometimes others don't like that very much. thanks.
@rwmagbag No problem! I agree, part of the problem with today's society is everyone wants to share their opinion but they don't want to hear an opinion that is different from their own. There are respectful and caring ways to share differences of opinions. Take care :)
is this song really about trees? or the actually of forest deforestation? either way its cool, there sound has sure changed, but somehow I like more of the songs on this album, then this business of art.
It seem like they don´t really like their old stuff anymore, but I can´t really blame them. Their old music is quite different compared to their newest music.
i know!!!! right now the only choices you have is either by=uying the record from tehir website or you can convert the video to an mp3. i have it you want but i'll need your email if you don't mind. i also have clever meals and divided!
"next on the mic, Tegan Rain sings a song...a song...about trees...trees being taken down..by the man"
HAHA I had never heard this before! I love it I always love the "Tegan does spoken word" thing!!! I just love when she takes risks like that and does something cool and different! and the handful of songs in which she's done that are some of my faves!!!
Me too, as all songs of "Under Feet Like Ours". It is my favourite album from T&S, I totally love it. And I will upload more songs in the near future.
This song was wrote, because they went to their parents house and they had cut down all the trees in the yard. My favorite song ever.

i love this part : No lines on the highway, no passing they say,
No green to my left and no green to my right,
And the man behind the axe always gets a full meal,
Cause green never puts up much of a fight
so awesome sounding(the whole song in general too)
