Porn seems to put thoughts in my head i wish i didnt have sometimes. I didnt ever used to watch it. I was "forced" by sick men. I hated it for years, now i get this morbid curiousity occasionaly and will watch a little. I dont feel good afterwards. I think alot of it degrates woman,it doesnt show LOVE, only lust. but men have made me feel like that is hot and sexy. so yea that messes wiht ptsd for shure! doesnt it say if we think of doing somethign its as if we did it ? just my thoughts
Porn is like a Mills and Boon novel. Sure, some entertainment value, but taken to extremes it'll give you warped ideas about relationships.
Let's be honest though. Be it good or bad, all men masturbate. A study comparing those who use pornography with those who do not could not find any non-porn using subjects. Any answer to this question should accept that porn's been with us since the cave paintings.
@KBoe4 As I said, 'be it good or bad'. My point is we have to start the discussion with an acceptance that you will not find a physically healthy, post-pubescent man who has never masturbated.
@KBoe4 "In one national study, 95% of males and 89% of females reported that they have masturbated. Masturbation is the first sexual act experienced by most males and females. In young children, masturbation is a normal part of the growing child's exploration of his or her body. Most people continue to masturbate in adulthood, and many do so throughout their lives." from WebMD
I know that I never even thought about that until high school. And the only reason I did was because of talking with peers. Again, just because WebMD says it's okay, does NOT mean it is...
@KBoe4 being OK and being immoral is 2 way different things it's OK in a sense that it doesn't harm you mentally or physically and i'll admit that I have since I was 14
@tahboobi -__- ur opinion but it leads to wrong actions what do you mean? A LOT of things in the world lead to wrong actions porn IS natural (well masturbation is) and its better than getting addicted to stuff like drugs, drinking, ect.
I believe that porn, under any circumstances, is NOT okay. Mostly because God wants us not only to avoid sexual immorality, but anything LEADING UP TO sexual immorality. Porn desensitizes us and slowly wears away at our innocence. The images not only distract us in situations when it's not appropriate, but they can make us like zombies in a way... and eventually, we'll think it's okay to "do it" with anyone, anywhere, at anytime, and we might hurt others if they get in the way of our desires.
Sexual intimacy in any capacity (such as mental or physical) should be within the context of marriage, as any acts outside of which constitute what one could describe as 'cheating' because that intimacy is being given to things that are not your special other. Be it persons, paper or websites.
As long as no one is hurt in the making of porn I don't find anything unethical about it. As long as porn isn't actually having a detrimental affect on a relationship I don't see any reason why it must be prohibited.
That being said, it is probably better to restrain oneself from watching too much porn because it will give people unreal expectations about what sex is really like.
So long as one does not become obsessive I do not consider pornography to be a bad thing. Watching porn does not produce the diseases and unplanned pregnancy that random hookups produce. With married people it would depend upon the couple. I don't consider seeing a dirty film to be cheating unless you arer actually seeking to hookup with one of the performers. my 2 bits worth good luck on the new project.
Porn is wrong impo. I was addicted to it for a long time before i came to know christ, and had no problem watching it. i thought it there was no jesus clock or calendar around, God wouldn't know. but no that i have the Holy living spirit of God in me, it grevies me to even think about it. ask yourself this. would you watch porn if Jesus was in the room? of course you wouldn't. well most normal persons wouldn't. but if you think about it. truth is, jesus IS always in the room with you :/ porn=NO
@GrandmaKittyWalkers Do you only eat healthy so that when you defecate, Jesus doesn't have to smell it? If he's always in the room, wouldn't you make that extra concession, to make your shit not stink? I mean, he DID die for you.
@Shazbotben this shows the immaturity of some people. i was simply stating why i feel its wrong and you take it to another level. and deification is a natural thing, my poo never stinks anyways ;)
@GrandmaKittyWalkers I was taking your statement to another level to demonstrate the absurdity of your argument against porn. Masturbation is just as natural as defecation. Porn is to masturbation what a laxative is to defecation.
@GrandmaKittyWalkers Regarding Jesus always being there and if he was in the room would watch porn. I'll ask a counter quesion would a person make love to their spouse or husband while he was standing in the room?
@theyaden God invented sex. he made male and female, and to be joined as one flesh, but when they are married. it is holy in Gods sight as long as the couple is married. so yes.
@theyaden@theyaden I guess you and I have a different viewpoint. I consider sex to be a private thing so I would not do it while someone else was in the room. I believe most that would not watch porn with others in the room would be for simular reason rather than shame but thats my view of it.
"Biblical perspective"... stop right there. If you're married, you've obviously made a commitment to our significant other, and it is disrespectful to look at porn without their approval. Otherwise, people should be able to do what they want as long as it doesn't negatively affect others. It's your life. Respect others, but don't hide in a shell in fear of a God that doesn't exist.
... How can this possibly lead relationships in a good direction? Or how can we truly love them: "freely, totally, faithfully, and fruitfully" when we see these images of perfect bodies?? Beats me. (This is my opinion)
I thought of one more thing... when we look at porn it tends to give us a certain idea of what the human body should look like. Porn stars are generally skinny, in-shape, so on so on... When we see these images of these "perfect" bodies and then are in a relationship of our own, we tend to expect something from our spouse's body that we know we can't have. This leads to fantasizing during sexual scenarios with the spouse. We imagine the porn star in our head rather than the spouse....
@TheRtenney You are making assumptions about body images. "Perfect" bodies? Hardly. Beauty is still very subjective and the variety of porn available supports proves that.
@TheRtenney "when we look at porn it tends to give us a certain idea of what the human body should look like." Not if we made it out of seventh grade.
"Porn stars are generally skinny, in-shape, so on so on... " Not everyone watches porn with porn stars. There are many different types of porn to suit many different interests. Besides, if porn completely shatters and ruins your perception of someone who you'd otherwise love, then you are impossibly shallow and porn isn't the problem.
@Shazbotben I was just giving an opinion and an idea of what can happen to people when they become addicted to porn or obsessed with it. Sorry for not making that clear to you.
I think porn is also rougher on girls because of the body types that are in porn videos. NOT saying that all those bodies are perfect. But it can give women poor self-image wether you want to hear it or not.
@TheRtenney Porn or no porn, people will be insecure about their image, among many other insecurities and anxieties. I don't see how porn provides any more of a contribution to such anxieties than television, specifically commercial advertisement. Yes, I think both of these things can be a source of image problems, but I think the best solution to combat those problems is to raise awareness of such issues and try to help people better understand the difference between fantasy and reality.
my wife and i due to health reasons cannot have sex. i love her and nothing in porn compairs to her but i think that there are hormones in people and i have no problem looking at porn. though i dont think every person is ok with it. i must admit my problem with porn is how much of my day it takes up. it is not that i spend a lot of time but i must say that even a little time seems to much some times
and most spouses would see it as cheating if you hired prostitutes to watch them have sex with each other. What makes porn different from that? Nothing.
(cont) and I don't see the moral difference between watching porn or picking up prostitutes and bringing them home into your living room to watch them do sex acts for money.
Being on film doesn't magically turn a prostitute into an actress.
I think it's interesting that in Orwell's 1984, the way of enslaving the proles, and preventing them from uprising against the government, was by providing them in steady stream supply of porn, booze, and lottery tickets.
People will put up with anything if they're enslaved by a vice and can their regular fix. This is why the sex industry often seeks to get their workers hooked on coke. You can control an addict easier than a sober person.
Porn is put forth by Satan to tempt mankind to sin against the Lord. And all SIn leads to destruction. What sin does Porn lead to? It leads to lust to which Jesus stated that if you lust in your mind, you have already committed adultry which is SIN. Porn also leads to covetting. That is also related to covetting your neighbor's wife(10th commandment). So 2 commandments can be broken by looking at Porn. Porn can also be a form of idolotry as men begin to put Porn which is the 2nd commandment.
Also while one puts Porn above GOD which is idolotry it then is not loving GOD with all your heart, soul and might which is breaking the 1st commandment. Porn leads to many sins to which all sins lead to destruction. It spins into bad events and the eventual fall of one's life...marriage, kids, job, finances, health. Satan knew he could slowly initate his porn into everyday life on all media. Porn has been one of the key elements to break down society and families.
I choose to be free from these sexual desires because I much rather be liberated and be able to respect the body as "someone" rather than seeing it as something and merely just biological.
David, you need to read "Theology of the Body Explained" by Christopher West and his teaching called "Freedom to Love".

Chastity is more important than we could ever imagine. Chastity directs sexual desire and attraction toward the true dignity of the person.

Im 16. Therefore it's fucking awesome. Thanks for the question.
Seriously though, I don't think it's at all a bad thing. In regard to previous comments "We have to guard our hearts..." .. If you're a stupid person, you allow your life to turn to shit because of porn. If you're smart, you just do it when you feel like it and move on, 15 minutes of entertainment. There's no defilement, it's just what you feel like doing.
porn is good. atleast its not bad...a married or someone dating should probably not be looking at porn unless they agree on it or something weird like that
Porn is good if thats what you are into and 99.9% of us if not more are into it weather they will admit it or not. Thats about it. It should be perfectly legal and acceptable period it is there because of our natural sexual drives and it will remain here for ever it has always been here accept only recently can we put it on video instead of using our imagination or a picture.
i think of porn like i think of alcohol. always drink or watch in moderation. you never know when you could get addicted to something, but as i get older i don't see the point of have or seeing either one.
Pleasure is a substitute of joy. Empty, unhappy people need this sort of stuff. If you are experiencing peace and joy you don't need this nasty counterfeit.
@carcabe Pity is a substitute for open-mindedness. Arrogant, judgmental people need to pity others in order to feel better about themselves. If you are truly open-minded and humble, you don't need this nasty counterfeit.
There are two main questions you should ask when making a decision: 1) Does this glorify God? 2) Does this cause me to sin? Porn encourages lustful thoughts and clearly glorifies the creation instead of the Creator. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off.
@lysolbombs470 women may willingly agree to participate, but that doesn't change the fact that if objectifies them; the fact that they're constantly referred to as "girls," "sluts," "whores," but never "women;" the fact that, in many, if not most cases, women need to undergo plastic surgery in order to be accepted into the industry.
And what part of that isn't their willing choice to do so? The girls in the industry that stick around are there because they enjoy it. Have you ever watched interviews with some of them? They're all perfectly happy people. It's YOU that can't accept THEM. Nothing more.
I have a few female friends who went to get breast implants just because they wanted to. Is that wrong? Does that make them less of a person? Or is that only if someone asked them to get breast implants?
@lysolbombs470 Did I say anything about plastic surgery making someone less of a person? My issue is with industry practices that perpetuate chauvinism and the objectification of women.
"Or is that only if someone asked them to get breast implants?"
So it's only when someone wants them to get implants that it becomes a problem because it "objectifies" women. The women that do porn generally do stick with it because they enjoy it more than waiting tables. Look around for some interviews. Not all porn companies are about silicone and tying women to chairs with feathery rope and black leather.
@DJilneige it is a common misconception that " women need to undergo plastic surgery." to be in porn it simply is not true. most porn has no plastic surgery ,if you don’t believe me check out some porn sites. as long as it’s not retro porn I think you will find I am right.
"Masturbation is something completely natural. Animals do it. Is it a sin for an animal?"
Though I completely agree with you that there is nothing wrong with masturbation this is a fallacious argument. You're committing the naturalistic fallacy by saying that masturbation is "good" because it is "natural". That being said, I wonder what a Christian does say to the idea that primates tend to masturbate if they think it is a sin?
No, no, you caught the fallacy. That's what I was hoping for.
You hit the nail on the head. If all things are made through the glory of God, and primates masturbate, is it sinful for a primate? Or is it only sinful for something with a conscience that can make the logical connection between masturbation and sin?
I'm skeptical about your series ideas. I don't generally like watching bible study videos. I've studied the bible a lot in the past. I want to study new things now. But who knows, maybe you'll prove me wrong.
It's just like a tool, whether it's good or bad depends on the user. If someone is constantly looking at it then it's probably not healthy, but I see no problem if people use it with moderation. Probably not cool if you're looking at it if you're in a serious relationship, unless the other person knows and is ok with it.
Porn seems to put thoughts in my head i wish i didnt have sometimes. I didnt ever used to watch it. I was "forced" by sick men. it's never acceptable, it's a mortal sin..

doesn't porn lead to masturbation? and isn't that a sin?
most porn degrades women, and is almost never realistic.
It leads to sinful thoughts. All that said, once in a while (like twice a year)
I do fall into its trap. After I watch some, I feel sinful.
many years ago, when I was born again, i burned all my mags & vids I had.
Never went back, I don't own any, anymore, but sometimes... I...
fall in it's trap again. One thing I do know,
PORN is not a good thing. It can destroy lives.

Masturbation is something completely natural. Animals do it. Is it a sin for an animal?
Women sign up to do porn and (among the reputable companies) will always allow them to back out at any time if they become too uncomfortable.
Feeling sinful is because you've told your conscience it's bad.
You haven't provided any details that would suggest porn is bad OR that it destroys lives.

DJilneige 8 months ago
@DJilneige
Or is that only if someone asked them to get breast implants?
lysolbombs470 8 months ago
@lysolbombs470 Did I say anything about plastic surgery making someone less of a person? My issue is with industry practices that perpetuate chauvinism and the objectification of women.
DJilneige 8 months ago
@DJilneige
What about those industries that don't do that? ^
lysolbombs470 8 months ago

MaximumAxiom 8 months ago
@MaximumAxiom
No, no, you caught the fallacy. That's what I was hoping for.
You hit the nail on the head. If all things are made through the glory of God, and primates masturbate, is it sinful for a primate? Or is it only sinful for something with a conscience that can make the logical connection between masturbation and sin?

@hunter4hire God is good, that is a cool little nugget of testimony there. Everyone makes mistakes. Keep going! I agree with you. x

Watching porn with a partner can be fun.
MAKING porn with a partner can be even more fun.
I'm skeptical about your series ideas. I don't generally like watching bible study videos. I've studied the bible a lot in the past. I want to study new things now. But who knows, maybe you'll prove me wrong.

I like porn. But, I know when it is too much.
Mindfor2012 8 months ago
It's just like a tool, whether it's good or bad depends on the user. If someone is constantly looking at it then it's probably not healthy, but I see no problem if people use it with moderation. Probably not cool if you're looking at it if you're in a serious relationship, unless the other person knows and is ok with it.

As a filthy atheist heathen, I don't have any actual problem with porn.
I just don't see the problem with it.
