Great arrangement, great playing. One thing caught me though, I think monk always hits the 3rd note of the main melody on the & of 4, not the beat 1 of the 2nd measure. Gives it a little more swing.
thanks for listening and for the kind words. I might not have the timing right...i went back to the lead sheet and listened to a couple of recordings and it seems like the third note is actually on the and of the first beat of the second measure which means that I think I'm playing it early not late...does that match what you're hearing?
sorry for the delay; thanks very much for the kind words...I just put up some videos with an HD camera, so the quality might be better...happy holidays!
nice job, im teaching at my skool for guitar (im 14) i thought them a nice song blue monk by thelonius monk it turned out well. if you dont mind me asking, where are you from? i was born in fl but originally bangladesh. im starting to compose music myself too.
Excellent - very true to the original: intriguing, angular, bluesy. Thanks

@asanisimasa2 interesting comments from both!
...but I think Monk might have just said something like
"That's a cool way to play it man!"LOL!
Nice Johnnie Smith by the way...

it starts in C and then goes to F and then back to C. Basically, a I-vi-ii-V but with tritone substitutions (i.e. flat-fifth)
