It's too bad Danny Joe Brown left this band to try a solo gig...it was bad for all involved. Hatchet was never as good, even when he later returned & his solo stuff was nowhere as good as MH
@Freyja1133 They're still a southern "rock" band, but were probably the heaviest sounding of the bunch. Not all their songs were that way, but Flirtin' would definitely fit the metal genre.
Amazing band ! Molly Hatchet are playing Liverpool's o2 Academy on the 13th of December! And my band get to support them! So make a big effort to go! And get out my band 'Santa Venera' !!!
I seen them live in west germany in 1983 when i was a soldier. I was missing home and Molly Hatchett that night gave me a small taste of being back on the block with my buddies. . Friggin outstanding concert
@cmbishop21 That's not a mullet, you stupid idiot. It's just regular medium long hair. A mullet is short on the side and long in the back. Maybe you should google what a mullet actually is before making such moronic comments.

I don't know why people compare these guys to Skynyrd. These guy are not Skynyrd, just good ol' southern boy havin' a good time...just like Skynyrd. Southern Rock kicks ass.
@gsisola Rossington, Collins, King (no disrespect meant to the Gaines family and fans). Rossington, Medlocke, Thomassen. Then there's Johnson, Satriani, and Vai (I know, doesn't count).
Let's get wayyyy back. 1973, Cruisin' N. Main St in Jacksonville. "Dino's Disco" (Nobody freak out about "MH wouldn't play a disco!" It was the early 70's...every other bar you saw was a disco!) Portable marquis sign out front: TONIGHT MOLLY HATCHET! I thought, what the hell's a molly hatchet? So, went in, checked it out and now I know!
The classic ORIGINAL Molly Hatchet lineup, in all their glory! One of the first shows I ever went to was The Outlaws at the Springfield (MA) Civic Center with Hatchet opening the show. Tremendous show . . . now both original lead singers of those bands are gone (Hughie Thomasson of the Outlaws, and Danny Joe Brown from this band).
damn this came out 15 yeARS BEFORE NOW AND IM ALMOST 48 AND I USED TO listen everday getting messed up after school when all was THE WORLD WAS STILL FULL OF THIS KIND OF BANDS ERBILL

@EdgerHumphrey - You make me laff! Other than Skynyrd nobody else ever did pull off a 3 guitar front. This band was underrated. I'm 61 and I still play them REAL FUCKING LOUD!!!!!
I saw these guys twice in '80 & '81, the second show being at the Hulman Center in Terre Haute, IN. They were so loud that I attribute that concert to a lot of the high-tone hearing loss I have today. Thanks MH- you guys fucking rock!

@toothmaker22000 Whiskey is the reason Danny passed on . He was a diabetic & he liked his whiskey. He was a nice guy my buddy met him after a show & Danny offered him a swig off his Jim Beam & of course my friend said Helll Yeahhh !
Most of Kirshner was lame (After all he "discovered" the fucking Partridge Family), but every once in a great while the show rocked and this was one of those times.
holy fuck i just got a huge chill up my spine just now....man Ive been listening to Molly Hatchet since I was three years old and now im 15.THEEZ ARE THE JAMS!!!!!
I always liked Molly - I remember when this song came out - played it in a cover band. Funny thingthough, Dickie Betts said Southern Rock died the day Molly Hatchett came out. Go figure - I guess he didn't like their version of Dreams. They did rock pretty good, though.
I hope all the rednecks out their that are all way too over board with the whole redneck thing these days realize that these guys belong to rock and roll and not country along with the likes of zz top and yes skynyrd. you can keep garth and brad and all those fags hahah
holy flippin h! what a badass live version. djb sounds great. the bass is up a pinch high and the crowd was lame just standing there while these guys kicked their ass!
saw them twice in the late 80's once at momma's showcase bar and grill in covington, ga they opened for foghat, hatchet left nothing but ashes behind. the second time was some bar in doraville, ga. danny joe has some the most power vocals every put down for recording. hearing him live in your face was 10 time better.
my dad was at one of there concerts he said the singer slaped a man that was talkin smack!!!!anyways guys i love all country old rock like molly hachet im from the south and im proud to be and im redneck n country to the bone
A cousin of mine was a bartender in a small motel bar in Des Moines that these guys were staying at in the early 80's. Said that they were the most polite customers he ever had. Something to be said about Southern folks and their hospitality and manners.
It's too bad Danny Joe Brown left this band to try a solo gig...it was bad for all involved. Hatchet was never as good, even when he later returned & his solo stuff was nowhere as good as MH

I always liked Molly - I remember when this song came out - played it in a cover band. Funny thingthough, Dickie Betts said Southern Rock died the day Molly Hatchett came out. Go figure - I guess he didn't like their version of Dreams. They did rock pretty good, though.

Molly Hatchet was one of the first Banda to use a G & L Bass
Leo Fender would be proud.
Great listing

saw them twice in the late 80's once at momma's showcase bar and grill in covington, ga they opened for foghat, hatchet left nothing but ashes behind. the second time was some bar in doraville, ga. danny joe has some the most power vocals every put down for recording. hearing him live in your face was 10 time better.

A cousin of mine was a bartender in a small motel bar in Des Moines that these guys were staying at in the early 80's. Said that they were the most polite customers he ever had. Something to be said about Southern folks and their hospitality and manners.
