Yes, and no. The problem with the last tests was that I was using fluids for the shape of the fire. I can't force fluid particles to destroy themselves though. As wonderful as the first test looked, I would love to keep trying even in spite of volumetrics coming out soon. It will be another long time before that new feature becomes easily animatable, previewable, and affected by forcefields. Now I know that fluids can be set to make particles instead of a mesh, but I don't think it does bilboard
