  • Howdy! Does anyone know what kind of violin Maestro Kennedy is playing here?

  • @outoftunefiddler looks like a full sized one

  • @beastinblack Ya think so? I think I fell off the turnip truck some time ago not to realize that! Good one!,,)

  • @outoftunefiddler i heard him comment during an interview that his million dollar Strad is "a pretty nice fiddo" :-)

  • j'adule ce mec, je lui voue un culte

  • ist schon ok kann mann sich schon anhören.

  • Makes my heart ache.

  • Incredible :)

  • So beautiful!

  • he looks (-ed) so cute ^^

    i like his interpretation

  • the beginning here is just a little slow for my taste... It's just a bit morbid i think... xD

  • Very interesting transition into the 2nd movement...he's a beast!

  • this guy is so crazy!!!

  • Summer 2nd is very touching

  • @baliasuncrest27 Agree...Absolutely!

  • it's strange i never heard this he improvise before but i like this wow great

  • summer is the best ♥

  • winter 1st mov destroys summer

  • the last 6 seconds of summer annihilates all of winter

  • The funny thing about Nigel Kennedy is that he doesn't play in the Baroque style, but he plays in the Baroque spirit.

  • Whoops, caught the end of autumn I in there.

I'm glad he could slow down enough to play autumn 2 with the somber respect it deserves.

  • @ZombieCobain How can you even question NK's interpretation?

Seriously, you fucking idiots make me laugh.

  • he is really good. he clearly let people know of his style of playing. really nice.

  • what i would do to be able to play violin like that...

  • yeah....i know...right...

  • magnifico

  • Zajebisty kawałek.

  • I love this..nigel is the best :D

  • I think this guy is great -- he really seems to put HIMSELF into his music. That is what sets this apart from the typical "stuffy" classical music. This is how classical music ought to sound.

  • Hear, hear.

  • i always felt that vivaldi mixed the beauty of classical strings with the spirit of heavy metal (particualry in the four seasons: winter and summer)... so since i was very young i always felt that vivaldi's music was violent and fucking shredding... but its beauty also lends different takes on it... thats just what i always felt

  • recontranaso - I agree with you entirely and could not have put that better myself.

  • I was just saying something along the lines of this XD

  • Until min 2, is still the 1st movment

  • when this style of music was really popular it was customary for the soloist to improvise and embellish alot, so it would really be in the spirit of the piece if he improvised that part.

  • another interesting thing is that kennedy cuts up the first movement and adds a sort of "attacca" between where the movements are really supposed to end...

  • The thing is, the first half of this video isn't really 'Autumn II', it's a slow passage during the first movement, followed by an outro - the ritornello of the main theme, as we hear. It's the second half that's the actual slow movement. Interesting too, I wasn't aware of it having a solo violin part, on my recording it just sounds like harpsichord with some light strings - is this Nigel Kennedy improvisation? Or at least rehearsed improvisation, if such a thing exists? Either way, it's good!

  • too brusque

  • it all happens from 2:00 that's where Adagio molto begins and it is totally definitive, Nigel Kennedy meets Vivaldi has not been surpassed yet!!

  • anyone know what type of violin he has?

  • That's not his trouble - that's his privilege. He's had a chequered career, but he's a fantastic talent, a great musician and personality. He's very much himself, not a fraud, and more capable of being a real human being on stage than most people are. He lives for the moment in the music instead of concentrating all his efforts into the perfect execution of a pre-planned performance. Power to yer Nige - shine on and thanks for all the brilliant moments and new ideas you've given the music world,

  • To bundleHastings, is that to say that you put madonna above nigel? Honestly?

  • one of the most beautiful things ever written

  • one of the most beautiful things ever written

  • i love classical music before i hated it but now i listen to it all the time

  • same here

  • @princessbluey this is technically baroque :P

  • @princessbluey Me Too ! I still listen to rock, country, jazz and blues, but am listening more and more to Classical music, I just wish I learned to appreciate it more when i was younger

  • the greatest feeling he can put in the strings

  • What an incredible feel for music Nigel has. We owe something to Jimi Hendrix and the electric guitar here, and yet how peaceful...how harmonious...
