  • my fave is the Yugo .

  • Murray's sells a spring firing pin for this gun. It's quite easy to install and eliminates the danger of an unintended slam fire.

  • MAKES SENSE TO BUY IN MY GAY STATE ILLINOIS WILL DO

  • Wow... SKS's are expensive in the US. I bought 3 Norinco military surplus SKS's for $170 each. Also bought a Russian refurb for the same price.

Sucks they are so expensive for you guys down there - at least you don't have to have a damn rivet in the mag to keep it under 5 rounds.

  • Humor a fool for a moment: why this over the WASR-10? The WASR has a detachable mag...

  • @MrSurvivalPete ill take my saiga 7.62x39 or 12 gauge calibur over any other guns out there.

  • @Northcascader Get your panties out of a wad and quit bitching little girl

  • @Northcascader : bye-bye stoner. We've been putting up with your feces since 1957. Thanks to millerusaf for keeping the good stuff rollin!

  • Whats a better weapon, SKS or M1 carbine?

  • Oh my...anyone have anything to say about these guns? Aside from the history and BEAUTIFUL look of these firearms, can someone tell me something about the quality, dependability and stopping power of the round? I used to own a Mosin so I expect the same reliability and ruggedness or I won't purchase this gun :D Saw one on the Cabelas site for $280. That included 10rnd mags and pouches and bayonet. Is that a fair price?

  • great vid man! sub'd

  • @Northcascader Since I bore you soooooooo much, I'll help you out by blocking you. Now you don't have to watch my boring videos anymore. :)

  • I could kick myself,my brother bought these when they sold for $90.00.The chinese SKS sold for $59.00,this was 35yrs ago.

  • And mine was only $220

  • Mine's older!! :)

  • you're asking a brand new price for a used rifle.

  • ak any day over this damn thing

  • Out here in California, you can get around a lot of laws by going to gun shows. I love mine.

  • Great Video! If the sks entered service during WWII and seen action. It would have the prestige it deserves. Sadly the poor sks image in a cheap thug hanging out a car window rattling rounds in to a house. Most of those are gone via police. It inexpensiveness and a good rate of fire was it's biggest down fall. At lease the stigma of owning one has fated.

  • You have 3 minutes worth of info.

  • still kicking myself for not buying these when they were $129 at the gun shows.

  • I realized I'm not going to be fighting any CQB's any time soon being a CIV and all so I'm on my way to buying a 100$ russsian mosin nagant and and 189$ chinese sks

The ammo for both are about 300$-400$ for 1400 rounds u cant go wrong pally boy especially if you are a CIV who doesn't hunt so thats a lot of target practice or a nice stash if your into that sort of thing

  • I had some fun with my sks. I love my ar-15 though. :)

  • I love my SKS, and I got it for free!!

  • I love the SKS man and it's a great buy if you find one for cheap, around here in east Texas tho, they're almost to the price of an AK and I'd rather get a century AK74....cheaper ammo too.I had a chinese SKS w/bayonet and it felt solid in my hands, but was real heavy and real front heavy...my left arm got tired as hell.Either will serve you well, and to be honest to god man I'll have another SKS one day to go along with an AK....I love both guns.SKS was my 1st gun I ever owned

  • id rather a minigun lol

  • Correction: You noted that the magazine was "permanently affixed", it is not. While being considered non-detachable, it is removable/replaceable. Those that don't know might get the wrong idea.

I would also add as an accessory/option, the available Tech-Sight rear aperture sight that adds 10 inches to your sight radius (from 19" to 29"). For me, this sight has improved accuracy at longer distances.

    I love my SKS's. I own two.

Double your pleasure. Double your fun. (Old Doublemint Gum ad)

  • I dunno about SKS being much of a secret :) But I damned sure miss the deals I got on these and MAK-90s back in the mid-late 90's

  • Recently picked up a SKS-M, designed at the factory (Norinco) to accept AK mags. Works best with metal mags. The design was actually done by an American gunsmith and Norinco bought manufacturing rights. Paid $400.

Next I am looking to replacing the barrel with a 21" RPK type, or a NHM91 barrel, mounting a Harris bi-pod., and installing a Tech-siight.

  • Around my neck of the woods you can get a Saiga cheaper than an SKS.

  • They run great for the $ man! Hope you had a great weekend!

  • I gotta Russian girl.

  • Love your videos about the SKS. I own one, and your videos are very informative! :)

  • The SKS. Most Obsolete Rifle Ever Made... I'll stick with the AK-47. Good Vid Tho.

  • its no secret... its ignorance

  • sks is my home defense rifle. I have had aks and ars but i find myself always selling them and going back to the sks. I have a norinco paratrooper i got for free from my dad and i love it. I prefer the traditional look and feel of it. just wish someone made spare parts and springs for it incase something breaks.plus reloads with striper clips are not that bad once you get the hang of it.

  • why buy a rifle when you can build one ;)

  • +++++

  • I want to put a butt-pad on my sks stock, it has that short feeling for me.

  • I want to put a butt-pad on my sks stock, it has that short feeling for me

  • Another great video. My only issue...We are gun guys. Pull the camera back a little so we can bask in the beauty of the whole gun. Other than that, another happy sub.

  • i've like to get one of these for plinkin, but i cant hand over $350 for a russian model when you could by one for $65 10 years ago

  • @DaytonaRoadster Your math is off. 10 years ago we still had your Democrat buddy Bill Clinton's AWB. Then he used executive order to push an import ban that was never repealed. The SKS hasn't been $65 since pre-1989.

  • @Everett07630 well i got mine for about $100 back in the mid 90s, dont forget also it was under Regan machine guns were banned as well

  • @DaytonaRoadster The Hugh's Amendment was tact on last minute in a questionable parliamentary move by Senate, Rep. William J. Hughes (D-N.J.) - another douchebag anti-gun Democrat among a long list of Democrat 2nd amendment haters. The constitutionality of the Hugh Amendment to the 1986 FOPA should be challenged.

  • Well said, SKS rifles are not "assault weapons" so they are great for ban states.

  • @semiautoriflelover1 The communist-democrat ban states still want to add the SKS to the AWB list.

  • @Everett07630 I laugh when I see guys buy these in my state and then add a pistol grip and 30 round mag, or they add the grip or col stock to a shotgun, they just made the list. Yeah, the Democrats claim they "don't want to take anyone's guns away" but then they say things like "if we had all the votes we would take every last one of them". We have guys on youtube who own guns but still vote for those pricks, that is sad.

  • @semiautoriflelover1 The commie-democrats gun confiscation will lead to a civil war. And the left-wing won't stop w/ just abolishing gun rights. They want to wipe out the entire Constitution and free market system. The Democrat party majority are bunch of throwbacks to the 1960's left-wing socialist / communist radical movement. You see all these little pricks carrying their marxist slogans and Che signs "protesting" wall st lol.

  • That's really cool stuff. Thanks for sharing.

  • How bout you sand that stock down and re-stain it instead of that paint? You can get more for it that way.

  • @Transporter1022 Not on this one. I may end up keeping this one. We'll see. :)

  • @millerusaf hey miller i would love it if you could answer this would an sks make a good SHTF? survival? and hunting rifle? i want an all purpose semi automatic VERY dependable rifle would you recomend this?

  • @millerusaf You said most of those guns are around $300? I bought one here in Canada for $188 from Le Baron. It was a Russian model as well. Do you have any idea why the difference?

  • @BNUTTALL1983

Canada does not have the stupid ban that the US does. marstar.ca is home of the $75 sks

  • @BNUTTALL1983

    Our Government sucks ass

    Mine was $325 :/

  • I have a chinese SKS not a norinco tho. The only thing I have thats made in china thats not a piece of shit. Your right it is the best kept secret!

  • wow, sks? they cost as much as AK and are crap in comparison, my range even has a NO SKS rule... i used to be an sks fanatic, but they are a pain to take apart in comparison to an AK.

  • @FFarmerCharlie How is an sks crap in comparison? No box magazine? There are models that use the same magazine as an AK-47. I also don't see how it's a pain to take apart. a 5 year old could do it if taught correctly. No tools are need. It can't get any simpler than that.

  • @FFarmerCharlie Some might cost as much as an AK today, true. But, they can still be gotten fairly cheap though. The SKS is far from being crap, it's an excellent rifle. Of course, it's outdated though. The AK is a better rifle. Your range has a no SKS rule? What kind of morons runs your range? The AK is easier to take apart, but the SKS is far from being a pain to take apart, they are quite easy to take apart actually.

  • @esh325 They are morons, and my only experience of taking one apart was when a couple friends came and we learned to take down each others rifles, and that guy knew less than i did from youtube, but it definitely aint as hard as an m14 with a scope on it.... that was a pain. Skss are good, but hardly the best kept secret.

  • @esh325 Mr. FFarmerCharlie is full of cowpies. "No SKS's allowed at his range" (but everything else is?). "SKS's are pain to take apart" (yet he doesn't explain what's so "difficult" about it).

  • @Everett07630 I think the SKS is easy to take apart. I've taken this current one completely apart 3 times now. The AK is simpler, but the SKS isn't hard by any stretch, in my opinion.

  • @millerusaf I agree. Also, I'm reading these comments about people bitching about the price of the Russian SKS. The fact is the Russian models are more rare here in the US than the Yugos & Norincos. The Russian models of course being the originals will command a higher price because of the collector value associated w/ them. The Russian models should be kept as original as possible. $400-$300 for a mint Russian is about right based on current market price. A mint Yugo will even sell for $275.

  • I have both a norinco & yugo. They're nice utility carbines.

  • poor mans garand ...still love them ,for what you pay for a wasr you con build adecent fighting rifle...,also good buddy rifle for shtf ,if you are an a.k. man ,if your lucky, you find anorinco d, model interchangable mags...god bless god speed..

  • great riffle for a beginer?

  • @superpug666 Beginner must be aware of the slam fire issue. Google it. Easy to maintain and shoot though.

  • @almostconcerned Yep. I actually plan on making another quick video discussing that and and a couple other little fine points about the SKS.

  • @millerusaf Thanks...newbies need to know up and down range at all times. :-)

  • To any body thinking about buying one of these I used to have the same model back in the early 90's and I can tell you they ARE a great little rifle. I was banging the 10 inch gong at my local range at 400 meters 9 out of 10 shots every time I tried it !

Thats Not bad for an open sights rifle that had thousands of rounds through the barrel before I bought it !

  • I have a Norinco, and it is Highly accurate. Perfect chromed barrel, slight rust from lack of oiling the bluing. But its flawless. Its a great rifle, and very good machining.

  • Here in Canada they are still $150 to $200 for a unissued Russian SKS ... i guess they are more in the US because of your import laws..

  • did you actualy PAINT the stock???

  • @Solingen1000 It was already painted, so I changed the color from some gold sparkly color it had on it to a flat black.

  • A video on the su-16 class would be cool

  • Great vid. =] cant wait for the range vid.

  • Actually, I think they are expensive now. I could buy a brand new, Russian-made Saiga for not much more. I would pay $150 or so for an SKS, but not what they are asking now.

  • lmao glitter

  • I bought a NIB still in cosmoline Yugo SKS for $200 back in 2004. The SKS is a rifle I love, but dollar for dollar I'd rather have a K31

  • @YenkoSuperChevy and 150 dollar for 7.62x39? I envy you. We don't get prices that cheap anymore!

  • @YenkoSuperChevy Unfortunately, we don't get Russian SKS's anymore like you Canadians do currently, lol. Russian SKS's haven't been imported in the US in almost 15 years, because of an arms restriction between the US and Russia. The Russian SKS's in the country now fetch a premium. Like 500$ and up almost. The Norincos were banned too, and haven't been imported in years, but are a lot more common. Only small batches of Yugo M59/66's and some Romanian SKS's are still imported.

  • ...soo any place in Great Falls to grab an SKS?

  • What is your opinion on the Tapco tactical stocks and magazines for the SKS?

  • I bought my Russian SKS for $265 last year.

  • Good Video.Great Point and Bargain for a quality firearm.

    God Bless

  • I got my Yugo 59 for $199 back in 2004. Best buy all around! The ammo back then was going on sale for $1.49 a box of 20, Wolf, FMJ and HP. I bought a bunch of that ammo and I still have some of those boxes left.

  • I have 2 sks's a chineese and a yugo and love them

  • my russian sks is that sexy red color onley reason i bought it's my 2nd cheapest gun but its the onley one i don't shoot

  • I don't know if you mentioned it but a big + is cost of Ammo

  • @raven1121 I didn't mention that. 7.62x39mm is very inexpensive these days. Great post.

  • my maadi ak is # matching ,,,as is my sks both are great rifles as are my ars

  • the yugos are dogshit

  • @derekgrebner87 Some of them are decent. Of all, I prefer the Russian models. Norincos are good shooters, though (and pretty common).

  • @derekgrebner87 I wouldn't call them dog shit, but they are certainly the worst of the SKS's in my experience. My first SKS was a Yugo M59/66 and it had problems. Couldn't be fixed by even a gunsmith. Sold it eventually. I got a second Yugo and it work fine though. Another negative on the Yugos is that they don't have chrome lined bores. Some of the bores are in poor shape from not being cleaned after corrosive. The gas valve, can also be a failing point. If corroded, it can make it fail.

  • @derekgrebner87 Overall though, the Russian,Romanian,Albanian, and Chinese rifles are better then the Yugo M59/66. The only Yugo I would consider good is the the M59 model without the grenade launcher. I would say they are on par with other models, except they don't have a chrome lined bore.

  • @derekgrebner87 Whats wrong witht he yugos?

  • i lov the sks wonderful rifle had i known when i bought one for 75 back in the 90s whaat a great rifle i had i would have bought 10

  • I was thinking of getting a 10/22 to work on my basic marksmanship, but for $100 -$150 more dollars I can get an SKS or a Saiga in 7.62x39 or 5.45x39. I am not sure which way to go .I like surplus rifles and in the state that I live in if you use the weapon in a defensive shooting, the less it looks like an "evil black rifle " the better it is for you in court.

  • SKSs are awesome, however, I wish I would've picked a few up when they were going for $100. These days, you can save a little more and get a mid-range AK for an extra $150 or so. Great for Nazi states, though.

  • @wcropp1 One of the first things I did after I turned 18 in was I went out and purchased an AK. It was a standard Norinco model. It cost me 120 dollars.

  • @millerusaf haha at one time someone could buy an m1 carbine for that price as well.

  • I still remeber the first time I ever shot an sks... i was 18, had just bought my first yugo still in cosmoline, slammed 10 rounds in it and let her rip. was very accurate and fun to say the least. kinda regret selling it.

  • Comment removed

  • @67mustangreg I used to have a paratroop model Norinco. I regret getting rid of it. That thing was fun to shoot.

  • Nice, but Saiga for $299 at JGsales is better rifle

  • @sniper4usmc That's a nice Saiga rifle.
