You guys should try a silicon ear plug, you can mold it in your ear and its hardly visible. You can pick them up at Walgreens. I believe the brand name is Macks. It works as an (AAF) Altered auditory Feedback. you just mold half of it in your ear until you get a boom sound. Its effective and dirt cheap compared to the speecheasy.
I avoid words such as "I" and several others constantly, which only results in very awkward, disjointed sentences. On top of my stuttering, I have generally bad diction and slur most of my words and I also speak too fast. What I hate most is the awful facial twitching that occurs as a reflex to the extreme strain and tension in the jaw and the face muscles. I've found my stuttering gets unbearable when I don't sleep well. But mine is on and off, not constant, and it usually comes on suddenly.
Dan is my hero because he stutters nasty like me. I want that speecheasy so bad...he is my inspiration that someday I can ditch this terrible affliction.
And nobody has made fun of me or mocked me out, because they know I could literaly kill them.
So if anybody chooses to make fun of another with a speech problem, you better be able to defend yourself because maybe we can't verbaly defend ourselves from scumbums, but we can use our fists.
they make the speech easy device look good..well it can be helpful for the first few weeks or so but then the brain gets used to it and it wouldnt work anymore
I agree. I need this ear peice desperately as my nasty stuttering is destroying my life. I can't afford this because it is so expensive. These device sellers should be killed for selling something so helpful at outrageous prices. If they had the problem of stuttering and wanted a device, they would know how us bad stutterers feel and would make the prices alot more affordable.
I also stutter. One way to reduce it is to find out the words you stutter on and replace them with words you can say. Use the dictionary to find alternative words you can say instead. Or put a letter before you speak e.g. 'Ahhhh' My name is.... Also, ask your local hospital/doctor if they have specialists that can help you. They have free classes in England (UK) hospitals that you can attend in private.
word avoidance works to a degree, but it does not address the underlying problem. It can lead to awkward sentences, in which you sometimes still will stutter. becomming more fluent requires a multi-pronged approach including reducing fear of talking, reducing tension in vocal cords, reducing akward reaction to a block, and then maybe some work avoidance. takes training and constant practice. just my take, may not work for everyone
