i used to race for rossier! haha i live about 20 minutes from the shop... you can actually get a roddier pipe for just about anything.... just call the shop and ask for joe and tell him what you want and he will make it... everything is done on a flow bench to make the most HP possible...
its the SAME CHASSIS, the raptor has a bigger better engine, that isn't legal in GNCC racing...
superchargers aren't legal either...
why not start with the better engine?
tuning fuel injection is much simpler, the hp created with forced induction would be MUCH higher on 700cc, and in no way is the 450 a better quad, its just different.
@petthekittyz Sorry but the Raptor Chassis and the YFZ chassis are not the same
They are not even close. The raptor is legal in several gncc classes and race against 450's all the time. Also the five valve system in the yfz is far superior to that of the 4 valve system in the raptor which is outdated. Im not sure where u get your info but most of it is off. The yamaha 450 motor is state of the art check your sources
@bitedummy No shit the 450 is badass, but not for boost, you dont take a low displacement high compression engine to boost.
yamaha has been doing the 5 valve thing for years! my R1 has it, and now they have gone back to 4 valves because they realized the increased valvetrain is using more energy than it is making.
@petthekittyz you are right yamaha has been doing the five valve system for years since 1984 to be exact. They have recently switched to four valves in their fuel injected systems due to efficiency. That much is correct . They claim that while the five valve system is capable of much more power and stronger bottom end that the increased mass makes power less controllable. I do see your point as far as displacement but I dont think it is as simple when your talking YFZ450 vs. Rappy 700.
@bitedummy when it comes to spending the money on pushing forced induction into an atv, there is no question the raptor is the better application. I'm not saying its the better quad, but the engine, valve timming, compression, displacement, fuel injection, everything about it is SOO much better for boosting, I cannot fathom boosting a 450 dual cam with 11:1 compression.
@moinvestment You would likely have to modify the case, somewhere, in order to pull power from the crank to spin the supercharger, usually directly from the case but could pull power from cam or anywhere that is powered directly from the rotation of the crank. Turbo would be a much better forced induction application for random application, although I would recommend getting a larger engine, or selling it and getting a bigger bike for best all around everything
lol ur too late!! i already did that and i adjusted the needle up one so its giving it more gas and its running better than ever i spun the tires through all five going down the lane my brothers having this problem now so im going to try to clean his carb.

Nothing is wrong with the quad its a powersurge from the supercharge and i would say a cam too

horsepower or cc is what sells a quad, torque is what wins races
ajd2466 1 year ago
@ajd2466
and torque comes, usually, from displacement.
I'm sure this thing is a blast to drive, but moding a fuel injected raptor is soo much easier!

if its runnin pretty hot or poping alot when you let off the throttle, its lean
get bigger jets or raise the needle ! if it bogs alot its too rich.......
digzie1 2 years ago
i have a 1985 honda trx 250 fourtrax and it runs hot and pops alot but if i push on the throttle too much it wants to shut off what should i do o.O
countryboyG 2 years ago
if ur yankin my chain-lol if your serious, sounds like its lean if it ran good and just started i would
clean the carb first, probably loaded with
dirt, ive also seen the float needle get
fuel tarnish-varnish (covered with gunk)
and stick, then it will idle great but when
you take off it wants to run out of fuel and get HOT, clean clean clean......

how do you get it to idle like that, is it a stroker crank?
YFZRIDR91 3 years ago
It's called blower surge. Most engines with with a supergharge does that at a low idle.
kevjt 3 years ago
love it... I love the way the engine breathes when at idle... my bike does that same thing..
