Why thank you! Have moved on well since this, will be posting video of Wild Oats first 3* win as soon as I get time and hopefully if all goes well, heading to our first 4* in November. Hope I remember to turn the camera on.
@JustBecause110 When starting a young horse it is OK to let them walk into water, down small drops and to small ditches so they get time to see what the problem is but anything that requires a jumping effort should be at least done at the trot. Remember at the end of the day cross county is a forward sport.
these vids are great! they appear so game like and didn't think were real until i saw one of my owners standing to the side! amazing! thank you! this has helped people understand why a silly little fence could get missed in the 3^...
I didn't think the turn from 4 to 5 was that tight! Then again, I was only looking at it, not riding it!
Do you know what actually happened, like, why you fell off? Was it because, like you said in one of your posts above, you didn't drive your horse enough or..?
Absolutely under rode it. Got up the first step OK but not enough impulsion for the second and she just didn't quite get the legs up & under her. I took it for granted & should have known better!
I am going to start training for eventing in February and I was wondering if you could answer one of my questions: how far ahead of the jump or obstacle do you sit deep? Because you are in two-point over the flat but when you come up to a jump, where do you start shifting the weight downwards to prepare for the jump?
Perhaps you should begin by asking advice from someone who didn't fall! But really, it all depends on the horse and the jump, in some cases you will be in the saddle riding with everything you have from 10 strides out and in others you may well stay in 2 point over the fence. In this case I needed more drive and left too much to the horse, as a rule you need about twice the impulsion to jump up steps as you would to jump the same sized normal jump. Good luck with your eventing!
Damn I love this view! The 4 and 5th jump that is a pretty tight turn! And a vid just can never give justice to just how hard you hit the ground, awesome post thank you!
Your horse is so cute. I especially love the ears.

Pity we didn't have "Horsecam" on algebraeventing at Adelaide! Now that would have been spectacular!!!

people would have damaged their necks as the camera rotated 90 degrees to the right and showed the park from a whole new angle.......

This is like extreme high definition for filming. I never saw someone get such a clear view on top of the horse.
