Definitely Beautiful! Last week I discovered - Simone and Zelia Ducan . As all Brazilian musicians- they are not known in the US and Canada- I am a Musicology PhD student at Cornell University and the only Brazilian artist we study is Carlos Jobin. The only ones very few students know of is Caetano Veloso and perhaps Gilberto Gil. Other latino Music much are more appreciated than the Brazilian one. That is unfortunately since Brazil produces great music.
Simone and Zelia Ducan make good pop music. The sensual relationship between they both adds to the music. Surprisingly, I have been told- in Brazil very few lesbian musicians are publicly out. It seems that they encounter proffessional dificulties if they are outted. There is no Melissa Etheridge in Brazil. The only ones out are the young one, I have been told.
The oxymoron is: Brazil Market itself as Liberal but do not accept homosexuals.
Me encanta Simone, desgraciadamente no es conocida internacionalmente. Aparte de un grupo de gays y latino muy pequeño, nadie conosce Simone. Aparte de Caetano, Gil y algunos otros (que hablan Inglés y dan entrevistas en Inglés) lo músicos brasilenos se dejan de lado. Es una pena ya que son muy talentosos. Los brasileños deberían ampliar sus siguientes internacionalmente. El mundo está ahora globalizado!
