how are they around children, would they make a good dog for families, and they visicous i have a golden retier/german shepard but he's really old, my family wants to get a bigger dog as long as it friendly
they are very gentle around kids and always obidient to their masters and they would do anything in their power in order to protect you and your family with all they've got, no worries... Turkish Kangals are excellent dogs, they are one of a kind !!
Man i have 3 of these dogs and a roty mix with doby one of a kind dogs there not mean like poeple think it's just people who teach them to be mean there great with kids the only one i don't realy trust is the mixt but he is ok.Just be careful with these dogs even if they are like the nicest dogs in the world.
kangals aren't mean. kangals are breed for one thing--> to guard sheeps. they can't attack their masters. they show alot of respect for its master, if anyone makes an assault for its master it will attack immidiaetly. but at the same time, kangals arent the dogs you play with you know you cant play with them like a lab for example
they are for guarding sheeps and houses they are for any kind of guarding and you can play with them of course you can.. but only its owner(s) can play with him.. he will attack strangers

Well yeah, but as you say, VERY protective.
If you are an household with lots of visitors and so son, I would not recomment a Kangal.
But they are really friendly to their keepers and good with children.
