I've been in the Auschwitz, Dachau & Bergen-Belsen concentration camps. It was in the end -and a part of my military draft in Europe (1990). The atmosphere there was horrible, knowing millions of people died there. I also visited the mass graves. And the plane fact is? Martial law has only been used in few and far diverse situations. I lived just North of Newark Nj in the 60's when the Newark riots happened. The Nat Guard was called in to quell them. Afterwards I drove thru that area. it looked like Berlin after the bombings. Blocks upon blocks of burned out homes and businesses. UTTER DESTRUCTION! Marching for rights and freedom DO NOT cause this kind of damages. ONLY utter disreguard for the law and people does. Riots are not pretty.

I don't live in North America. I understand why martial law won't profect people from Terrorism. However, it's not clear why the American government would want to introduce martial law, if they are just hiding behind the claim that martial law will protect the public from terrorism. What do you think the real motivation is? It's this I don't understand.

@BenoitBenn Good and fair question beno. But you have several wrong points. Martial Law isn't designed to protect against terrorism. Unless you mean home grown terrorists. Such as the people who perpetrate riots. NOTE! I did NOT say people who dissent and are peacful marches or protests. The 1st amendment covers that as the right to peaceably assemble. But riots like occured in the 60's and even the 70's are NOT peacfeull assembly. Such as the LA riots. THIS is the crux of the matter.

@BenoitBenn AND this is the mixing of intent that some would like to make to cover their asses. There is no motivation to declare Martial law in any normal situations that local or state oficials can control. Martial law is only used when local or state constitutional governments CAN'T deal with a situation. In which case the state petitions the federal government to send in federal troops to contain things like riots and looting. Like what happened during Katrina and the LA riots.

@BenoitBenn So to answer your question? The feds wouldn't WANT to declare Martial law. In fact! Martial Law stops ALL normal commerce and costs billions to the economy. Again as in the LA riots. Where the total costs have been estimated above 100 billions dollars in damages. ALL those costs ultimately charged to the federal budget. Never mind the loss of life or the losses to the local economies. Martial Law is economic suicide. ONLY a last resort to a BAD uncontrolable situation.

I've only got a few problems with what Alex has said here. It has something to do with knowingly lying. That "NEW" Civilian inmate labor program? NOT SO MUCH. It's just the army regs governing how the ARMY planss to use that manpower. The actual manpower is authorized by a 1940's bill. 18 USC 4125(A). In which it states WHO can be sent to these places and HOW they can be used. BUT? In ALL cases, they are people already CONVICTED of Federal and some State felonies. Hense the term INMATE.

Yea but it doesn't say anywehere that people are placed in FEMA camps against their will.. it just says that they can choose to go there for a reduced sentence. If I was in prison, I'd probably choose to go to a Fema camp too. Better than sitting around in the prison yard worrying who's going to gangbang you today. At least in the camp you get to work with your hands, and get a reduced sentence out of it. I don't think they're sending innocent Americans to these camps...

I believe FEMA camps exist and that they are constructed for Americans, however, I’m not so sure the presumed "coffin liners" have anything to do with it. Please help me with a clear connection between the Georgia storage facility (with what are actually commonly used grave liners for everyday burials at cemeteries) and FEMA? A google search of "grave liners" will show this to be one many models of a grave liners use to protect caskets in the ground.
