  • komisch in der Überschrift steht stirmi und blondi sagt er . Weis wohl selbst nicht was für eine er hat :-)

  • @HDTarantulas

I do not speak German but here goes:

Das war, weil ich es war ein T.blondi zum Zeitpunkt dachte, stirmi nicht vollständig bis zum vergangenen Jahr beschrieben, deshalb habe ich den Titel geändert, um stirmi

Translation: That was because I thought it was a T.blondi at time, stirmi wasn't fully described until last year, that's why I changed the title to stirmi

  • ich will auch wieder ne blondi :(

  • @McKugel91Recordz

this is a stirmi. I know. The video was old :)

  • whuaa i'm so scared of these giant spiders!

  • what are the chances of getting bitten

  • @Jonathanechev

    with this species..it's pretty high

  • @Jon3800 so do you ever play with that spider?

  • @Jonathanechev

too defensive to play with this species. Pinktoes and Curly Hair tarantulas are pretty calm to handle.

  • That molt is good for a prank ^_^

  • looks like im buying a shotgun!

  • @russianpeanut

why bother, it's not going to hurt you in a locked cage? Why can't you enjoy the beauties of life as it is before you point something as useless as a shotgun at a helpless spider

  • @Jon3800 yeah you say that now until one of them breaks into my house and tries to take my parents back to its lair. (hehe im just kiddin)

  • @Jon3800 Would you recommend the chilean red tarantula as a species for handling, as appose to the theraphosa blondi?

  • @Jadeqorawwrxo

wouldn't recommend either. T.blondi can be quite defensive plus their hairs are really bad. If you're talking about G.rosea, it's not good either because their known for being unpredictable.

Best handling species are most of the Avicularia genus like avic avic, Brachypelma smithi (mexican red knee), Brachypelma albopilosum (curly hair), Chilean flame (Euthalus sp.red) and Eupalaestrus weijenberghi (white colllared) or Eupalaestrus campestratus (pink zebra beauty).

  • @Jon3800 i do personally own a G.rosea but, its a coincidence that you mentioned the mexican red knee, because before i actually got my T. the store i bought her from also recommended the mexican red knee tarantula, but i do agreee G.rosea tarantulas are quite a difficult species to figure out, i handle my T rosie 2-3 times a day, and im totally comftable with her

  • @Jadeqorawwrxo

    that is a coincidence lol

  • @Jon3800 how long roughly do chilean red tarantula's live for and how often do they molt ?

  • @Jadeqorawwrxo

females 25 years males 8-10 years. If you check my popular mythbuster video series, there's a big detailed video on G.rosea. They do not molt very often. It is a very slow growing species.

I have a G.rosea red form that I've raised for 2 years. molted about 5 times in my care. She is 1.75'' used to be 0.5''

  • @Jon3800 Im actually really excited, ive had my G.rosea about 5 weeks and she molted for the first time today whilst i was out. but i do actually still have the old exo-skeleton

  • @Jadeqorawwrxo

nice. you probably can get it sexed, like I've done in the video. If it has the flap at 10:00, it's confirmed female.

  • @Jon3800 I Actually Named Mine Rosie, and now, down to its small abdomen, wild colouring and longer legs, its a confirmed Male ;S any suggestions for names for my G.rosea?

  • @Jadeqorawwrxo

    Peter Parker

  • @Jon3800 He's Defonatley a Male because his abdomen is quite small, his legs are long and quite thin, and his colouration is really bright

  • @Jon3800 Im callinq him Mitch, but is it normal for him not to eat?

  • @Jadeqorawwrxo

    very normal

  • i dont like so much spiders but that a beautifull video, THANK'S VERY MUCH ! nice way to learn life !

  • i dont understand what happend :(

  • @dataworld1

    it shedded.

  • the only good spider is one that kills insects and stays out of my fucking house....oh and the hard to see gaps on my god damn back gate latch!

  • @deadInf3rno the only good spider is one that stays the hell away from me!

  • @caligal2010

most spiders will stay away from people. They take flight rather than bite.

  • The only good spider is a dead spider.

  • @ofcelticblood

...then you risk people getting sick from insect-borne diseases that the spider kills...nice thinking!!

  • AWESOME VIDEO! thanks so much for all your effort and hard work Jon!

  • my third legspan is 11 inches

  • So so so so soooooo creepy, I would be scared to even hold the molt. :S

  • i'll just get my self a cute little furry something, but a tarantula that big i'll have a damn heart attack every time i see it!

  • How totally gross and fascinating all at the same time. Thanks for sharing!

  • Jon3800

Granted but if you want a spider THAT big chances are you already know what you're getting into... Lol

  • @Mchermsquatch

correct, but you still will have to know how to care for it properly. Pet stores do a terrible job in explaining them, so it's better to ask people who kept these for years. I've been keeping them for 16 years

  • Why do all spiders have a long "scientifically correct" name? I think Goliath is more fitting.

  • @Mchermsquatch

Latin (scientific) names tell a lot more about the spider than a common name like Goliath. Latin names tell you the description of the species (example Theraphosa means Beast in Greek , blondi - golden, flaxen) its genus and species it belongs to (which is important when studying venom strength, urticating hair types), and the country it belongs to etc..

Goliath is the common name that pet stores use so they can sell..While it is fitting term, it doesn't tell a lot about it.

  • @Jon3800

The original name was leblondi, because of Jean-Baptiste Leblond, the one who first discover the spider.

  • @JackREst

fully aware dude, I've been in this since 1994 :)

The species is now T.stirmi because it is not the real blondi

  • @Jon3800

Jon, sorry to burst your bubble, but you show very little knowledge.

You have been in the hobby since 1994 and you dont know how to sex ventraly a male? Even when the emboli is hitting you in your face?...Give me a break man.

  • @JackREst

I'm sorry but why are you are acting like a big shot? You know, a lot of people are not perfect, even the most experienced people can mess up over time, and ask for advice, myself, RobC, and probably even you. I've RAISED them for 16 years, I've never had practice sexing since late 2007 until I started populating my collection and slowly getting back into this hobby. Ventral sex is never accurate, molts are better. This molt had a flap and is a female. Please chill out.

  • @Jon3800

Im not the one acting like a big shot.I have never had and I never will. Im just dissapointed to see the kind of statements you make in most of your videos. Also, when you post videos on the Internet, specially making those estatements , you need to be ready for critizism.

  • @JackREst

I don't see how you should be disappointed with my videos because I am one of the few who actually talk about them, which I didn't see from any of your videos. If you keep them better than I do, congrats, you do not have to follow my advice. My videos serve to teach people that are new to the hobby not experts. I give advice based on how I kept and what I learned about them. Its a learning experience. I make mistakes from time to time and I film it so people can learn from it.

  • A suggestion when making these videos: please consider using a tripod and locking the camera down - the constant camera moving makes it hard to focus on something.

  • @TheRealNormanBates

    I have a tripod now.

  • Great video. I was wondering if tarantulas eat their old molted exoskeletons like crabs do? Also, do you keep the old exo's? The fangs look really cool.

  • @ILoveJapan8

some tarantulas species like Poecilotheria and Lasiodora have been known to eat their molts. Yup I keep the best intact ones :)

  • @Jon3800 Cool. Thanks for answering my questions. :)

  • @ILoveJapan8

    my pleasure :)

  • that was really interesting!

its really cool how you show me that!

    thanks again :)

    Sem.

  • I don't think it's the creature that spawns such immense hatred, as the person then feels the need to communicate this rage with an undeserved comment. I believe it should be looked into because if I understand correctly, the person admits they "go into a blind rage" which is more then troubling. As for the spider, I honestly couldn't handle one (by which I mean own, not physically obviously) or have these but I find them beautiful.

  • @Cyrus150: Spiders aren't evil. In fact, they're anything but. And you can't expect to fall in love with them by watching videos alone. Actually, watching feeding videos like this one might make you dislike them MORE, since they're at their most vicious when they're hungry. To truely understand why people love them so much, you have to spend time with one and get to know it. You have to hold it and pet it and I guarantee you will bond with it the first time you handle it. I know. I have one. :)

  • @Angel4864 Oh wait. I was thinking this was another video. XD

  • Are goliath bird eaters aggressive or are they calm

  • @Supercrazygam3r

they are defensive. These are not recommended for handling because of their immense sized fangs (1 inch long) and stronger than average venom.

  • @Jon3800 thanks for info what would you say is a good one for handling apart from a chile rose?

  • @Supercrazygam3r

B.smithi (mexican red knee). Check my T Recommendations: Good Beginner species.. You'll find a lot of choices

  • If I met that thing I'd fucking crush it with a swing of my baseball bat

  • @Cyrus150

Right... Cyrus, I really don't need these types of comments, keep your opinions to yourself. If you hate them so much, why watch it? I'm glad you're not meeting her, because if you did smash her, you owe me a $300 spider

  • @Jon3800 because they make me hate them so much and I don't understand why, so I watch videos to try to figure it out. Whenever I catch a spider in my room I go into a blind rage where I try to kill it in the most brutal way possible. It's mere evil existance makes my stomach turn into a knot.

  • @Cyrus150

maybe you watched too many movies and documentaries of spiders, which do a great job in portraying them as evil monsters. My videos prove otherwise. They're misunderstand creatures that do us a service. They help control the ever growing insect population and especially the eat borne-disease mosquitoes.

They are not aggressive creatures. If you leave them alone, they don't bother you. If you want to kill things, turn to the wasps

  • Bloodied dark colour on the fangs? Is this your genetically mutated vampire spider? :D

  • @Danduuzl

nope. That just means its not completely hardened yet :)

  • nerd

  • @lakindaplaya

so you're basically calling a nerd because people like myself are passionate about my hobby? Btw, what was that weird facial expression in your video about Cena -_-?

  • *runs away screaming*

  • That does not look like a Theraphosa blondi to me, it looks more like a Theraphosa sp. "Burgundy". Check if the patella has long hairs, if it doesnt have long hairs its a burgundy.

  • @JensTwn

freshly molted T.blondis do have slight burgundy hairs on post molt. She has lost those hairs

  • @Jon3800 Its not about the hair color. Real blondis have very hairy patella and tibia, sp. "Burgundy" does not have those hairs.

Robc´s Zilla is a Burgundy and not a bloni no matter what he says.

Most Theraphosa sp. "Burgundy" are sold as T. blondi.

  • @JensTwn

Im still not convinced mine is T.supinipes. are u positive you're not confusing yourself with T.apophysis? I've seen both adult females, and they have slight differences as adults, even more so at sling stage. I've never seen a T.sp burgundy before in person, so I need to see a side by side pic of a blondi and a burgundy

  • @Jon3800 No im not confusing my self with the apophysis =)

They have all the tarsus and palps white while the burgundy has only theyre 4 front legs tarsus white, and blondi none.

As i said: blondis have very long hairs on patella and the burgundy has not, just like yours. Importers said that they took home thousands and thousands of burgundys and sold them as blondis.

    I wrote you a pm with a link =)

  • @Jon3800 check out the AB forum, it will soon be named Threaphosa spinipes.

    No patella hairs=not a blondi

  • @2828joes

    Thanks :)

  • you are my hero, I have over 40 tarantulas but I have never Geshen as it appears in the skin turn over many, many thanks to greet maniac221

  • She's gorgeous how old?

  • close to around 7-8

  • that thing is bad ass.

  • dude... kill it.

  • It's a creature that deserves our respect. Me killing it won't do you any favors. Plus spiders this big are worth a lot of money

  • where can I get one of these?

  • you can get them at online breeders

  • thanks

  • why would you want to kill it retard?

  • Comment removed

  • Long time no talky J, nice Vid.

Now this may suprise you but I have no Ts! I had to move house so I sold them all!!!

But I have ordered x3 Brachypelma vagans

and x2 T. Blondi's too start me of again.

  • scary. do they bite u?

  • yes they bite. I never been bitten yet

  • bro that was interesting ..a little more of light for shotting the videos will be awesome

  • ya, the battery lights on my flashlight were weak

  • Where on earth do you buy pets like these? I've looked in private pet stores and can't seem to find any goliaths.

  • online tarantula dealers

  • Paul becker from petcenterusa (dot) net has a 2.5 inch goliath pinkfoot for $110. Only one left

  • Its crazy. This week. I have already had a trio of molts, and one more is coming as far as I can tell. Both my H. macs, and my now, 6.5" B. smithi have molted this week alone. Now my L. parahybana is in premolt. Never had this many going in a week. Tried to film the smithi, but the fucking tape was only 90 minutes and cought nothing of interest. Better luck next year. D:< lol Had a great idea for the vid too. My P. fortis vid will be pretty cool. He looks great now.

  • I take them in intervals and edit it out on movie maker

  • The thing is I had to leave for work, and was unable to record over each hour and a half until the spider actually started to emerge from her molt.

  • Great molt! It must be so cool having such a large t. Chris :)

  • beaitiful spider john, she's huge,

  • thanks ;p

  • hey jon what size does a tarantula need to be to be sexed?

  • 2 inches is bear min. 3+ is ideal. a molt is very accurate if you are good.

  • at least 1.5 inch or bigger

  • Pretty girl! My big girl, B. smithi is in premolt so I have refrained from handling her. I noticed darkening on her balt patch. I think she is getting there. This has been a year since the last time she has molted for whatever reason. I have had it happen as close as 7 months between cycles. Don't know what happened there. She has the smallest bald patch in all the years I have had her, so its tricky to tell how close she is. They are usually heart shaped.

  • its a matter of time that my B.boehmei will too, she's darkening already

  • wish mine were still around, so I could see that. Poor little guy.

  • thanks :)

  • I'm glad you took pictures so that we could see the deep brown coloration of Gretel. In the vid, she looked a deep, almost midnight blue when she molted. That would have been really awesome, a blue T. Blondi lol!

  • ya it would

  • What I do is mist my tank, then put plastic Saran Rap over most of the cage, in the middle. That ussually keeps humidity up to 90 percent.

  • Man, That's soooo cool! I always get excited when I find one of my Ts upside down, but never actually WATCHED IT FLIP HIS?HERSELF UPSIDE DOWN!! That's really cool! 5 stars!

  • thanks man, this is the first time I ever saw this, thank goodness for my quick skills on the camera :)

  • Yeah, I know it, talk about good timing!

  • That was awesome, thank u so much for sharing.

  • my pleasure

  • Very cool Jon! Congrats!

  • Actully ducks do molt just there feathers but it is still a molt like all birds

  • i see, thanks :)

  • 11 hours a her back now that's long.Theirs are prostitutes all over the glob, just in absolute disgusted she was on her back for so long and didn't get paid.lol

  • lol, adults like that take a while, she's was getting strength. Its was actually 9 hours, but that's still long lol

  • Sort your lights out Jon, cant see nuttin man ...lol

  • i wish i can man, the camera has bad lighting, im gonna try to get a better one this christmas

  • awsome video man she looks just plain huge in a week or so when you go to feed her you should try and get some meal worms to feed her and make a video of it that would be cool.

  • i thought spiders just kinda... like grew. i thought only ducks molted

  • ducks do not molt

  • dude thats sooooo cool

  • tht was so sweeeeeetttt lmao 5*

  • Cool video Jon, glad she molted ok:)

  • thanks Don

  • LOL what are odds of male at 10"?

    COol spider! I

How large of a cage does T. Blondie or L Parahybana require?

  • 5-10 gallon

  • jon you are mega lucky having recently buying that. my last blondi went from 8inch to 9.5 and that was big!

  • this is my smaller one ;)

  • 10 inch! cool

  • she's 11 inches now
