Sure, there may be thousands of nukes in the cold war but no one in the soviet union threatens the west that they will be launched at any given moment. For now it is best to use diplomacy and try to prevent a war. However if Iran, China, Cuba, Russia, and Venezuela do a deliberate act of war on the US, that is the time to attack them. What I think is Iran is pursuing a peaceful program but keeps making these announcements every single time they have something new in order to scare us because they know we're going to think they are building nuclear weapons.
But they need at least a couple nations such as Venezuela to think that they aren't for their whole rouse to work.
None of this would be happening right now if we hadn't demanded they shut down their entire nuclear program(regardless of its purpose, peaceful electricity or not) and instead insisted on a more rigorous inspection program and sweetened it with generous economic incentives.
Because if we did that and they still refused it would look too suspicious. In such a situation they'd have no choice diplomatically except to agree.
Iran having a nuke is pretty damn inconsequential to us if you think about it. Having a nuke and the ability to send it to the other side of the world are two very different things. Furthermore, if anyone launches a nuke, including us, you could expect a counter nuke. This fact is the reason more nukes haven't been dropped yet.
I say, let them have their nuke. The only people in danger are the surrounding countries and most of them already have nukes..

If Ron Paul is elected President he will be the Commander and Chief of our armed forces. He is basically stating he is preparing for the best instead of the worst. You cannot try to just say, "Oh they might not attack so lets not do anything."

Closing the Strait of Hormuz does NOT legitimize a war. It's wrong of Iran to do that, but we can carry the oil over Saudi Arabia if we have to. Iran does NOT have enough resources to be any real threat, and would have to give up for lack of resources at some point.

Iran having a nuke is pretty damn inconsequential to us if you think about it. Having a nuke and the ability to send it to the other side of the world are two very different things. Furthermore, if anyone launches a nuke, including us, you could expect a counter nuke. This fact is the reason more nukes haven't been dropped yet.

Hans Blix found no evidence that there were WMDs, the US then because of being impatient wanted the UN security Council to pass a new resolution that would allow the US to use military force against Iraq but failed to convince.
Bush then launched the second Gulf War despite having no proof for the WMDs.

He may have opinions i don't agree with (e.g. on abortion), but if he sticks with his foreign policy when he's president, the world will be a lot more peaceful. You can't call yourself a Christian and start a war. A guy who has principles from way back and isn't ready to compromise just to get votes stands out in the best way. He may not be perfect, but his ideas on foreign policy truly make sense and America would gain respect again for not putting another yahoo "bomb 'em" president in office.
