This may sound like a newbie question, but I'm a noob, so... Can I use rubbing alcohol rather than everclear? I'm not certain where to buy the latter.
@skywize no you cannot use rubbing alcohol because its unnatural, you must use a grain alcohol like everclear or something similar like unflavored distilled vodka. if you cannot drink it do not mix it with your juice. i'm unsure what states currently allow the sale of everclear but i'm sure you can find PGA out there somewhere. hope that helps!

@gelnath incorrect, not 60mg per ml - think of mg as a percentage, people are confusing everything. 60mg merely means 6% nic regardless of the volume.
It's not just outdated matey, it's very dangerous and inaccurate advice. 60 mg of nicotine is considered a lethal dose, i.e. ingesting only 1 ml of 60mg/ml would probably turn your lights out permanently.
The people commenting aren't just 'having a go', they are attempting to avoid a tragedy based on ignorance. If you have a better considered/researched video, I suggest you dump this one and put the accurate one up.

Ok, so you say that your nicotine liquid is 1mg/ml which is negligible at best, so we'll go ahead and assume that was a mistake. I'm guessing that you have a 60ml bottle of 60mg/ml nicotine solution (they often just write mg as short for mg/ml). Otherwise at 1mg/ml, 1ml of that would only equate to 1 cigarette (not strong). Also keep in mind that if that is 60mg/ml strength, 1ml of that solution on your skin will KILL YOU. So maybe a disclaimer would be a good idea, and perhaps some discretion.
@blitzkriegcrx this video was shot over a year ago, the nic ratios are all messed up and was more of a video to advocate DIY juices, the fact is that 60ml of 60mg nic is only 6% nic per ml. you vape substantially less nic and the quantity of the nic per inhale cannot be accurately measured. the point is to understand the ratio to dilute the nic to an appropiate amount. the video is outdated which is why there's a huge link on the screen to an updated mixing video, thnx for the view and comment!

@Godusesamac nic is always better, the quality of nic makes a big difference too as for everclear it just helps a lil, to be honest i no longer use everclear because it seems to shorten the lifespan of the juices, the flavoring changes after a few weeks =T

@mag1cac3 i dont use LoAnn anymore i much more prefer perfumer's apprentice or capella - on another note, you can just order from LorAnn direct. if you look for youtube user nicfitnation he's in CAN maybe he can help u with finding LorAnn stuff.

@aadildhunn i mean if you dont have access to nic you could just vape zero nic and all you do is skip the nic step, you can just mix flavor with PG or VG, you just wont get any throat hit. remember to avoid any flavor that contains oils =] happy vaping!

I am using the e cig to help me quit, I thank you for the idea of putting in grain alcohol, I thought that all the juices where too sweet, so I used apple jack and I am finding the e cig way more tolerable. Tell me, is the alcohol being evaporated or am I ingesting it? I really don't need another addiction.
@truemirror i cant be 100% sure but i think its evaporating and causing a throat hit sensation so you shouldn't be gaining any sort of addiction to it. ingesting it would mean you're pushing it into the blood stream therefor making you inebriated and its definitely not doing that so no you're not ingesting it - thats for sure =]

I assume perfume is not alcohol based. Or is it. I don't like perfume very much but to inhale it wld be pretty nasty. I think. Probably not or ou wouldn't recommend it. Can sandalwood be used in an E Cigarette?
@david1002a lol perfumer's apprentice is not just perfume, they have a line of FLAVORS that you can use in juice, not perfume as in sandalwood lol they're much much better than LorAnn. you should really check them out, they're freaking awesome! i'll send you a link =]
Probably why my Cartomizers are getting hard to get a drag out of. Anyway, unfortunately after a week of the anise I get use to it and lose the appreciation.
What Lorann flavoring do you recommend? I know the peppermint is powerful and the least expensive in the long run.
@david1002a i've completely steered clear from LorAnn because they taste too chemically and perfumer's apprentice is now my main flavor vendor (much cheaper as well). the only LorAnn I have is Apple (very light in flavor) and Licorice (tastes like black licorice and is oil free). I also really like capella, they have some good stuff there but are much more expensive than perfumer's apprentice
Your wrong about oii being bad for atomizers. Nicotine is an oil. I wish the others were an oil. If you take a dropper and drop some water into it you will see it doesn't mix. When I use another flavoring I have to shake the drippier bottle first to form an emulsion. VG is an oil simular to mineral oi. Thanks for the comment
@david1002a similar viscosity but not truly an oil because oil would completely separate and is not soluble in water whereas nic and VG are oil like, their boiling point are all much lower than oil thus heat vaporizes the VG and nic and actual oils requires more heat to change states. cut a soda can in half and use the bottom - put juice in it, put a lighter under it and it'll vaporize with very little trace, put oil and it'll burn and leave a residue instead of vaporizing. that gunk will build
You can save a lot on Ebay. I bought a whole oz.of Anise oil US $6.49+$2.09 Shipping then the price drops to .17 per Dram. Check out MEGANSSILICONEMOLDS. Only $1.79 per Dram pus .17 shipping on the 2nd choice. Amazon wanted $8.88 just for shipping. That sucks. How can they justify that much ? On Ebay you can just enter lorann then look for Megan's pricing. You will be glad you did. I recommend Hazelnut, Anise oil, and if you want to save money Peppermint,it is very strong but taste great.

Hi Phee, big fan, Im trying to make my own juice and im using lorann flavoring no matter what flavor I use I seem to be getting a very bad burning taste. I'v used differnt atty and new attys clean atty and have the same taste. Any idea what im doing wrong ? im using a 60/40 vg pg mix and still same deal. any idea's ? thanks
@ghostofwar1892 the burned taste may be due to the wick burning or the filler filler inside the atty, check my 'removing the wick' video, if it still persists maybe using a lower voltage device? it all depends on your atty, voltage - are you getting the same the results with store-bought juice?

yo wassup man i was just wondering i just stopped by an asian market and bought this brand Pamana Pineapple essence flavoring. the ingredients are Propylene Glycol, ETHANOL, Water, Artificial pineapple flavor, and just coloring.
Now my Question is that im kinda freaking out that it has "ethanol" will that be flammable and like explode in my face as soon as i add it to me cartridge when i smoke? i know that ingredients are based on greatest to lowest. and Ethanol is greater than water onThis
@pD1LLA not to fear the ethanol/alcohol will not explode in your face - you're heating the juice, not igniting it so you should be safe especially with the dilution of water, flavor, PG and what ever else you're adding to the juice like VG, water or even everclear (91% pure grain alcohol). hope that helps!

@pD1LLA zombie land FTW!!!! to answer your question i do get a couple flavors at an asian market but i dont really use them - some are weak, some taste funny, some are just terrible, you can go to hobbylobby or Michael's or joan fabric and get some LorAnn flavoring but i personally dont really like LorAnn anymore, check out my 'DiY Mixing Revisited Ejuice Calculator' video for my favorite flavor vendors and it really sucks that there arent really and brick'n'mortar stores i can suggest
@MrCwk553 you cannot use 151 because it is flavored (spiced) - everclear is untainted and is actually PureGrainAlcohol - i wouldnt use 151 just to be safe on your attys
Found the spreadsheet at excelv13ejuicecalculator - pretty complex but worth a look. Did find a calculator that I'm going to use when I get all my ingredients together. I have 50mg/ml unflavored nic juice in a PG base from Xteme Vaping - VG from Wiltons plus flavors (no nic) coming from Happy Vaper. Here's the calc: If your target quantity is a 5ml finished mix then: Add 2.5ml nic juice (PG or VG based) = 50% - 1.5ml PG or Vg (no nic) = 30% and 1.0ml flavoring = 20% (cuts my nic juice to 25)
@uncleiceburg yessirr! Caravelle is correct! amazing for anyone else to know that but i've found their flavors to be a bit weak, my favorite flavor vendors are capellaflavordrops and perfumersapprentice - i now steer clear from LorAnn except for a very few select flavors.
Loved the vid - Were you just making a flavored juice that you could later add your nic juice to? If so would you then add 2.5 ml of this to 2.5 ml of your nic juice in a 5 ml bottle. I checked parts of the vid again and couldn't find where or if you added nic to the juice. Thanks for the help.
@Rolondo2209 the ejuice iphone app has really perfected adding nic to DiY juices, this video is a bit rough and i'd like to make a better, more detailed process of mixing juices but just havent found the right way to do it. since nic content is important leaving the nic amount to a calculator would be best, if you dont have an iphone/ipodtouch u can find an excel spreadsheet thats floating around the forums. sorry i couldnt be more detailed because theres such a large variety of nic strengths

Thanks for the instructional video Phee. Very helpful. Are you using the Lorann candy oils for flavoring? I'm planning on using only flavoring, PG, and VG based nicotine because I like the sweet PG taste. Will it produce enough vapor with all PG and the only VG being the concentrated nicotine ? I'm using 100mg/mL BTW.
@jlira01 thanks for the view and comment! i've graduated from using Lorann and use capella and asian flavorings, i've also started to extract my own flavors using PGA, Lorann just has way too much color and has this weird chemical taste in a lot of their flavors. as for VG based nic, me and you both use 100mg and i do not know where you can find VG based nic at 100mg, i just stick with the PG and cut down with VG to get to my mg preference and it works great!

I don't mean to sound stupid. So for a nicotine mix, 1ml is 1mg right? So for a mix with 18mg you would need 18 ml right? Sorry Im not good with liquid measurement. And what was is the web site you pick up flavors from, or what are your recommendations?
as for calculating strength i recommend you hit the ECF and search for a juice calculator or if you have an iphone or ipod touch search the app store for an app called "ejuice". i just mix according to preference and adjust to throat hit and i've done it so much that i can just kind of eyeball things now, but if you want to be exact try searching for the app. in the ECF theres somone that made a spreadsheet u can just download. hope that helps!
thanks for the view and comment! well, you can get VG at walmart in the pharmacy section, its labeled as "Glycerine". as for PG, the only place i know that has it is a specific hardware store, you could always buy PG online from some retailer instead of hunting down something local.
i'm sure its possible to make colored vapor but it cant be good for you - the vapor is white because its water particles (like a humidifier), if the vapor is some color i'm sure it could eventually stain which in turn could be doing the same to lungs, so even if there was a way to get colored vapor i wouldnt vape it =P

yeah, the guys from the vaporcast like pear as well - i'm going to have to check it out. you can buy menthol crystals for much cheaper on ebay than what juicyliquid - you dont have buy DiY stuff from a DiY site, i found it much cheaper to get supplies locally etc.
i use my silver bullet all the time its always in my hand at first when i started 6v i thought it was harsh and it is very very different from 510 and 3.7

a 60ml of 60mg should last you a pretty damn long time, if course you're not vaping it straight, i'd go 1-2 drops per every 5ml, if you get your hands on some PG you could probably cut that 60ml of 60mg into like 2 or 3 liters of high-nic unflavored juice! it's definitely money saving, its my addiction to new gadgets (high-voltage mods) that burn a hole in the wallet =P
yeah 60mg is quite strong, for a 5ml bottle i go about 2 drops but i'm used to having a super strong throat hit so you could just go 1 drop. it all comes down to your preference of throat hit, if it's too much just cut it and if its not enough just add more. 60mg is definitely made just for mixing, i wouldnt dare vape on it straight.
I have started to mix my own and in the process of finding the PG I note the original KY jelly is PG and VG honey with an aditive called methylparaben, figures.....waiting for pg from myfreedom smokes and will look into the suggestion on farm equiptment and see where it leads me.
So say I get into homebrewing eliquid... I'm a nicotine user, so how much nicotine pg would you add to this mix to make it comparable to a 16mg liquid?

yeah, you can vape PG or VG on it's own. don't worry about the nicotine content and just mix to taste. basically add enough that your comfortable with the throat hit - it doesnt have to be an exact science, just don't go vaping on uncut 48mg or 60mg =)
hmm.... really strange that ace didnt have them. PG is used alot in farms, if you can track down a retailer that sells live-stock equipment you should be golden. spokane? hmm... i have no clue - have you searched the ECF for some local vapers? they may know where to get some near you.

i didnt want to get into all the math and ratios that are involved with the nicotine cutting - but really it's all preference on the nicotine. there's so many variations in unflavored juices that range from 8mg to 60mg and your preference for throat hit and tolerance for nicotine factor into homebrewing. for example, if you mix a 5ml bottle and you have a 60mg strength flavorless, i'd make almost the entire bottle and add maybe three - four drops of 60mg and it'd be strong enough for my taste
In my experience, the best ever. I've been rolling my own juices since about week 2 of vaping, but I had no idea that one could or should throw in grain alcohol for throat hit (which I'm not in love with) and that propylene glycol added sweetness to the juice (which I can't get enough of).
If I were paying you to watch the video, your simply mentioning the name of a good, large-quantity supplier alone would have been worth the price of admission.
Nice review. I heard on the forums that some of the lorann flavorings with dye is actually pretty bad for you. So Id watch out for it, just something i read so i dont know.
my understanding for LorAnn flavorings are not specifically bad for you but the colored flavors can clog your atomizer and eventually kill your attys, yes i definitely now avoid flavors with any color, in this video i'm using one of the very first flavorings i've ever ran into and i wanted something with color to emphasize the ratio, i would imagine multiple clear liquids would be hard to catch on camera. but yeah colors could kill your atomiser =)
vaping is a safer alternative for the intake of nicotine; no cancer, no smell, no 4000 chemicals, no carcinogens, no second hand, no smoke (vapor is water vapor - like a humidifier), no combustion, no open flame.
juices are the source of your nicotine, heating up the liquid causes it to vaporize into vapor and inhaling it delivers nicotine to your body. if you're interested i kind of explain it in my first video "My first PV (Trog Screwdriver) "

I am using the e cig to help me quit, I thank you for the idea of putting in grain alcohol, I thought that all the juices where too sweet, so I used apple jack and I am finding the e cig way more tolerable. Tell me, is the alcohol being evaporated or am I ingesting it? I really don't need another addiction.

@truemirror i cant be 100% sure but i think its evaporating and causing a throat hit sensation so you shouldn't be gaining any sort of addiction to it. ingesting it would mean you're pushing it into the blood stream therefor making you inebriated and its definitely not doing that so no you're not ingesting it - thats for sure =]

I assume perfume is not alcohol based. Or is it. I don't like perfume very much but to inhale it wld be pretty nasty. I think. Probably not or ou wouldn't recommend it. Can sandalwood be used in an E Cigarette?

Probably why my Cartomizers are getting hard to get a drag out of. Anyway, unfortunately after a week of the anise I get use to it and lose the appreciation.
What Lorann flavoring do you recommend? I know the peppermint is powerful and the least expensive in the long run.

@david1002a i've completely steered clear from LorAnn because they taste too chemically and perfumer's apprentice is now my main flavor vendor (much cheaper as well). the only LorAnn I have is Apple (very light in flavor) and Licorice (tastes like black licorice and is oil free). I also really like capella, they have some good stuff there but are much more expensive than perfumer's apprentice

Your wrong about oii being bad for atomizers. Nicotine is an oil. I wish the others were an oil. If you take a dropper and drop some water into it you will see it doesn't mix. When I use another flavoring I have to shake the drippier bottle first to form an emulsion. VG is an oil simular to mineral oi. Thanks for the comment

@david1002a similar viscosity but not truly an oil because oil would completely separate and is not soluble in water whereas nic and VG are oil like, their boiling point are all much lower than oil thus heat vaporizes the VG and nic and actual oils requires more heat to change states. cut a soda can in half and use the bottom - put juice in it, put a lighter under it and it'll vaporize with very little trace, put oil and it'll burn and leave a residue instead of vaporizing. that gunk will build

You can save a lot on Ebay. I bought a whole oz.of Anise oil US $6.49+$2.09 Shipping then the price drops to .17 per Dram. Check out MEGANSSILICONEMOLDS. Only $1.79 per Dram pus .17 shipping on the 2nd choice. Amazon wanted $8.88 just for shipping. That sucks. How can they justify that much ? On Ebay you can just enter lorann then look for Megan's pricing. You will be glad you did. I recommend Hazelnut, Anise oil, and if you want to save money Peppermint,it is very strong but taste great.

Hi Phee, big fan, Im trying to make my own juice and im using lorann flavoring no matter what flavor I use I seem to be getting a very bad burning taste. I'v used differnt atty and new attys clean atty and have the same taste. Any idea what im doing wrong ? im using a 60/40 vg pg mix and still same deal. any idea's ? thanks

@pD1LLA not to fear the ethanol/alcohol will not explode in your face - you're heating the juice, not igniting it so you should be safe especially with the dilution of water, flavor, PG and what ever else you're adding to the juice like VG, water or even everclear (91% pure grain alcohol). hope that helps!

@pD1LLA zombie land FTW!!!! to answer your question i do get a couple flavors at an asian market but i dont really use them - some are weak, some taste funny, some are just terrible, you can go to hobbylobby or Michael's or joan fabric and get some LorAnn flavoring but i personally dont really like LorAnn anymore, check out my 'DiY Mixing Revisited Ejuice Calculator' video for my favorite flavor vendors and it really sucks that there arent really and brick'n'mortar stores i can suggest

Found the spreadsheet at excelv13ejuicecalculator - pretty complex but worth a look. Did find a calculator that I'm going to use when I get all my ingredients together. I have 50mg/ml unflavored nic juice in a PG base from Xteme Vaping - VG from Wiltons plus flavors (no nic) coming from Happy Vaper. Here's the calc: If your target quantity is a 5ml finished mix then: Add 2.5ml nic juice (PG or VG based) = 50% - 1.5ml PG or Vg (no nic) = 30% and 1.0ml flavoring = 20% (cuts my nic juice to 25)

Loved the vid - Were you just making a flavored juice that you could later add your nic juice to? If so would you then add 2.5 ml of this to 2.5 ml of your nic juice in a 5 ml bottle. I checked parts of the vid again and couldn't find where or if you added nic to the juice. Thanks for the help.

@Rolondo2209 the ejuice iphone app has really perfected adding nic to DiY juices, this video is a bit rough and i'd like to make a better, more detailed process of mixing juices but just havent found the right way to do it. since nic content is important leaving the nic amount to a calculator would be best, if you dont have an iphone/ipodtouch u can find an excel spreadsheet thats floating around the forums. sorry i couldnt be more detailed because theres such a large variety of nic strengths

I'm planning on using only flavoring, PG, and VG based nicotine because I like the sweet PG taste. Will it produce enough vapor with all PG and the only VG being the concentrated nicotine ? @jlira01 thanks for the view and comment! i've graduated from using Lorann and use capella and asian flavorings, i've also started to extract my own flavors using PGA, Lorann just has way too much color and has this weird chemical taste in a lot of their flavors. as for VG based nic, me and you both use 100mg and i do not know where you can find VG based nic at 100mg, i just stick with the PG and cut down with VG to get to my mg preference and it works great!

When you buy the nicotine juice, it's 60mg PER 1mL. That's why you have to cut it down. It isn't 1mg per 1mL.

as for calculating strength i recommend you hit the ECF and search for a juice calculator or if you have an iphone or ipod touch search the app store for an app called "ejuice". i just mix according to preference and adjust to throat hit and i've done it so much that i can just kind of eyeball things now, but if you want to be exact try searching for the app. in the ECF theres somone that made a spreadsheet u can just download. hope that helps!

i'm sure its possible to make colored vapor but it cant be good for you - the vapor is white because its water particles (like a humidifier), if the vapor is some color i'm sure it could eventually stain which in turn could be doing the same to lungs, so even if there was a way to get colored vapor i wouldnt vape it =P

a 60ml of 60mg should last you a pretty damn long time, if course you're not vaping it straight, i'd go 1-2 drops per every 5ml, if you get your hands on some PG you could probably cut that 60ml of 60mg into like 2 or 3 liters of high-nic unflavored juice! it's definitely money saving, its my addiction to new gadgets (high-voltage mods) that burn a hole in the wallet =P

yeah 60mg is quite strong, for a 5ml bottle i go about 2 drops but i'm used to having a super strong throat hit so you could just go 1 drop. it all comes down to your preference of throat hit, if it's too much just cut it and if its not enough just add more. 60mg is definitely made just for mixing, i wouldnt dare vape on it straight.

I have started to mix my own and in the process of finding the PG I note the original KY jelly is PG and VG honey with an aditive called methylparaben, figures.....waiting for pg from myfreedom smokes and will look into the suggestion on farm equiptment and see where it leads me.

yeah, you can vape PG or VG on it's own. don't worry about the nicotine content and just mix to taste. basically add enough that your comfortable with the throat hit - it doesnt have to be an exact science, just don't go vaping on uncut 48mg or 60mg =)

i didnt want to get into all the math and ratios that are involved with the nicotine cutting - but really it's all preference on the nicotine. there's so many variations in unflavored juices that range from 8mg to 60mg and your preference for throat hit and tolerance for nicotine factor into homebrewing. for example, if you mix a 5ml bottle and you have a 60mg strength flavorless, i'd make almost the entire bottle and add maybe three - four drops of 60mg and it'd be strong enough for my taste

In my experience, the best ever. I've been rolling my own juices since about week 2 of vaping, but I had no idea that one could or should throw in grain alcohol for throat hit (which I'm not in love with) and that propylene glycol added sweetness to the juice (which I can't get enough of).
If I were paying you to watch the video, your simply mentioning the name of a good, large-quantity supplier alone would have been worth the price of admission.

my understanding for LorAnn flavorings are not specifically bad for you but the colored flavors can clog your atomizer and eventually kill your attys, yes i definitely now avoid flavors with any color, in this video i'm using one of the very first flavorings i've ever ran into and i wanted something with color to emphasize the ratio, i would imagine multiple clear liquids would be hard to catch on camera. but yeah colors could kill your atomiser =)

vaping is a safer alternative for the intake of nicotine; no cancer, no smell, no 4000 chemicals, no carcinogens, no second hand, no smoke (vapor is water vapor - like a humidifier), no combustion, no open flame.
juices are the source of your nicotine, heating up the liquid causes it to vaporize into vapor and inhaling it delivers nicotine to your body. if you're interested i kind of explain it in my first video "My first PV (Trog Screwdriver) "

lol ic, i've platinumed (unlocked all achievments) in tekken6, currently juggling Uncharted2, FallOut3 GOTYE, and gonna run out to get MW2 today. too many games! eheheh
