yes but u may pinch ther idears and use them youre self i think its rong u shold have a live compotition not just a video link one wat du u think pple
Who cares what people mix with? The crowd sure as shit don't. Welcome to the future! It's what comes out of the speakers that's important. So maybe Dj X can mix two tracks better than John Digweed.. So what? If he can't read the crowd or if his set is pure shite, then that 30sec intro/outro mix doesn't mean much does it. Mixing two tracks together makes up like 5% part of being a good Dj.
i use vdj and a pair of technics, i just find working on general ideas easier on decks and then refining those ideas on vdj not the other way around, its useful to be able to store my mixes as mp3s though, i wouldn't ever think about getting rid of my decks and only using vdj, that would just be nuts although i have found it to be a useful tool when playing places where theres not alot of space to set up in.
if i understood correctly, this isn't even a competition. you just put your mix as a response and that's pretty much it :P it isn't a competition because it would be easy to cheat with pre-recorded mix
Hey . What about if i do a mix and do a visual controlled by that mix and record the video material and than sex it together with a video edit program....the visual would be based on pictures.
Would it qualify ???? lol inbetween VJ DJ and pitch ur mix :)
for me to :D hehe and just about to it live in clubs not here YT is for me just fun and would be wastin time maybe later i`ll do it when i`ll have some free time
it is harder yeah. but there's apparently some sort of program that can record what you do on your monitor, and then you record you doing it on the computer i guess? not sure how it works, havent done it. i might do this though! hehehe if i'm not too late XD better start cracking.
Right, I realised there was no prize on this and Im not wanting a prize. I respond to this for views and to get other pl interested in my mixes. The reply is Part 1 of a 4 part Size A Cassette reorded in 97. Everyman, R.I.P, Terrorist, The Lighter and MANY more classics in JUST side A. Many more to come in side B.
Wats stopping people from renameing som1 else´s set and adding a few photos?? A webcam is not that hard to come across if you have access to Dj equipment and a pc!!! Dont be shy!!
I just rplied with a 20 minute mix if me in the mid 1980's I had no access to anything video related back then... this is Not my best work, but it was fun to make.
Cool...don't need a prise..it's just great to share with other people..that's my opinion anyway. Always good to get feed back, positive to boost ya, and negative to help you..as long as it's critique n not just trash talk. Not sure i'm brave enough to do it, but may have a go next weekend, after a bevvie or 2 lol ;0)
so make a mix with it and show us how easy it is, ive been using vdj for nearly 2 years, it takes skill and a hell of a lot of practice to get good at it, its not just about clicking sync, its about choosing the tunes, making sure the melodies flow and the beats actually work togeather, not just pressing a button!!!!!!!
Nah mate .. Virtual DJ is as easy as people think. Everyone has to know there tunes. Everyone has to know when to bring in tracks. And how the fuck is beatmatching hard on Virtual DJ when it has a beat sync button?
Well yeah. When i first started to DJ i had cd decks and a mixer. I had some trouble doing mixes because i didn't know a lot, so I sold the decks and headed for vdj.
As a result i can now pull of good mixes.
If you want to see what my mixes sounds like, then head over to my channel.
Controllers are become a lot more common in live setups, Sasha, Deadmau5 and countless others use Ableton as a musical tool to create amazing live performances, the difference is: they have musical talent and knowledge. Anyone who downloads virtual DJ and autosyncs 2 tunes cant be held in tha same breath, knwo what i mean?
i like the technological advances in DJing, i just dont think the leap from hardware to purely software will happen anytime soon
yeah, i pretty much agree on this...i was & still a vdj user too. i tend to planned mixes beforehand when using vdj coz seeing the beatgrid you just cant help yourself studying the breakdowns, cueing, track selection, pitch bending just to make that seamless mix! while on decks you can grab any other tune, beatmatched it & it's much simpler....
hey J ive put a few mixes up well a good few actually, all my own creations, you can kinda guess i love my Kandi, so ive decided to put the ones up that are on my channel, chk my channel too and let me know what you think :)
It's too easy to cheat like that it better to see them doing the mix. How will you know if they are not just playing a prerecorded 10 min. mix instead of doing it on the fly?
Ok i don't want to be greedy i love djing. Whats the prize is there one? I need new decks my ministry of sound have had it mate. Hopfully its some pioneers!
I dont have a vid camera or even a pc camera so yer ive just put pictures in my mixes. Tis a valid point and well Ive only added 7 vids to my profile so far but feel free to check them out none the less. I play all styles of D'n'B/jungle from early 90's to recent and Im also gettin into breaks. One day ill invest in a camera and figure a way to cleanly mash video and audio streams together neatly as i dont want that ambient room recording crap sound, prefer direct signal all the way.
well i got mine up i hope you like it sorry it's so short, it's been kind of a work in progress for a video my friend at work is doing, and i've been real busy with other stuff.
great idea as sometimes my computer is very old and takes 73 weeks :p to convert a file to be able to up it on yt ...only thing is I reckon some 'dj's' will turn into Sasha overnight .
sorry .. my mistake.. i've put again a video response with the march video... i'll put tomorow the video for april ;)
peace

Virtual dj takes no skill. You just press "sync" and it does everything for you.

sure, vdj it's a really great software for practice the art of djing. like the music choice, the good cues , and more. great comment pearson ;-)
deejayfree 3 years ago
i absolutely agree with this
i use virtual DJ and it isn't as easy as people think.
you have to know your tunes
you have to know when to bring in tracks
and beat matching is still a big issue to get right

Listen mate, no offense intended but my 7 year old cousin has provided me with a perfect mix on virtual dj lol...
"play" "sync" "fade"
nothing hard about that man....
DJPaddy643 3 years ago
You're right to say that turntables take time to master and you're right to say that vdj is easy.
But i don't agree with "there is no prior knowledge or musical skill needed".
You have to have a really good concept of beats and bars and which track would go best with this track etc.
I prefer to think vdj as a stepping stone rather than a game.
When you have mastered vdj with constantly fantastic mixes and a concept of a perfect mix, it is then time to convert to cd players and/or turntables.
groovedeck 3 years ago 2
yes, thats a very good explanation. im sorry if my comment seemed a little abrupt lol!
yeah, its a great stepping stone. And if you have a good concept of your bars and how to put together a good set with the right tunes....
thats if you use it correctly, and i think by the sounds of it, you do! ; )
Its also a good option for people who are thinking about becoming a DJ but are unsure...
DJPaddy643 3 years ago
Well yeah. When i first started to DJ i had cd decks and a mixer. I had some trouble doing mixes because i didn't know a lot, so I sold the decks and headed for vdj.

Using software with a controller is the future of djing.
Even the Legend that is Sasha uses Ableton Live and his
own custom made controller the Maven. Sasha has said
that 'Ableton Live allows for greater creativity and spontaneity.'
Lets face it the clubbers that go and see Sasha are not bothered what equipment
he uses as long as the mix is sick!
whitnicker 3 years ago
I know all about Sasha and 'The Maven'!
Controllers are become a lot more common in live setups, Sasha, Deadmau5 and countless others use Ableton as a musical tool to create amazing live performances, the difference is: they have musical talent and knowledge. speedfamgirl 3 years ago
You obviously have never got your hands on a pair of turntables then...
the decks are a skill and take tme and practise to learn...
Virtual DJ is more of a game in my opinion, there is no prior knowledge or musical skill needed

Just to make things clear:
Just post your mix as a response to this one, and it'll appear on the website.
You can have any images you like, photos, subtitles, video FX or footage.
Anything that isn't you mixing.
(Send vids of you mixing in to the tenminmix instead)
But remember copyright applies to images and video as well as music.
Please only send in your own mixes.
This is NOT a competition.
It's the alternative to the tenminmixes.
