  • @doyouwantsomeweed why do you have to say "GAY" yrs ago that meet happy now its meens dume why not just say dume you might just say that to someone and its not going to be good for u...so grow up

  • But yes, the show is hay

  • @doyouwantsomeweed maybe your mom is gay. How do you think she feels witha cold whose youtube name is doyouwantsomeweed?

  • This show is so fucking gay i don't know why my mom watches this shit

  • I'm unfortunately sick today and days of our lives is on. Wtf this is the stupidest shit I've ever seen.

  • That music is really trippy if you ask me. I sometimes have this really strange re-occuring dreams. During the dream this song is playing, it's snowy outside, and I'm inside a really spookie, haunted manchin cabin kind of thing. It's really wierd becasuse the inside of the house is all decked-out with lights and a Christmas tree; but as I hear the Days of Our Lives song play something really horrible like a murder, a police raid, or satanic shit happens. It's really fucked up if you can imagine

  • @1325ACO god I have exactly the same dream only there are Nazi s banging on the door.

  • @BleedingMascara04 You serious? Nazi's? Wow! The reason I'm asking is because I left my dream comment on a different Days intro channel and there were two other people there whoo said this song either induces bad dreams, or brings back bad childhood memories.

Is that not wierd, or what

  • @BleedingMascara04 Actually, that DOES sound like the music the Nazi's used to "welcome" the box car loads full of those who were "newcomers" to concentration camps. I watched a movie once about a Nazi concentration camp where they did just that!

  • i thought i'd see Joey

  • My mother would tape (VHS) Days everyday and at night when she was about to go to bed, we'd curl up in bed and watch it together. Most of the time I fell asleep though. lol

  • @MsNatarella lol me too apart from i would record it just before i went to school lol with sunset beach and the young and the restless

  • @pesphone I was so young then that a lot of it didn't make sense. But, snuggling with my mom is what I want to remember. Good memories.

  • "Copyright (c) 1972 Corday Productions, Inc. All Rights Reserved." was marked from April 3, 1972 through June 18, 1993.

  • Days of our Lives sucked when MacDonald Carey kicked the bucket. Frances Reid's death should have been the nail in the coffin. RIP Tom and Alice.

  • Im surprised no one has the opening with the 1972 copyright, thats really how the credits were remembered by many of us.

  • Reminds me of being out of school.

  • Like dicks through the anus, so are the days of our lives

  • when will tis boring program, end ??i find myself watching at because its right after price is right and then i realize wtf am i watching this?? as if all people are supposed to be beautiful. boohoooriiiiiingg !!

  • THIS IS MY GUM CARE AND THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES.

  • Joey s been there for you

  • Never liked the theme to All My Children or really OLTL for that matter. This theme was great and the theme from Another World 1975-1981 even better.

  • Very beautiful theme, but this show really is past it's prime and needs to end it days of our lives.

  • no he had a few spoof epis tho.

  • Thank you for posting this. I was never a DOOL viewer (my show was AMC) but I LOVE this opening :-)

  • Doesnt Joey tribiony star in this show??? :D

  • I didn't finish. I hope the final comes soon where everybody pulls out guns and shoot each other. Yeah! No more arguing!

  • I hate this show! Everybody's hatefull

  • what a shit show!

  • Adjust your convergence!

  • why does this opening seem more realistic than the new one, in the new one the hour glass looks so fake, i thought they would make it looks nicer these days.

  • Techniqually the days of our lives intro is still the same same hourglass and everything its just more colorful and smoothed out and it doesnt say who says it. But I like the old ones better.

  • Talk shit at this part? How about like the wooooorld didn't see it coming!

  • @nopathtofollow1 Das Racist.

  • Haven't heard that in YEARS!

    How the world has changed.....

  • i used be scared of this opening when i was little. doesn't bother me anymore.

  • I miss this show. I rmb when I was young I hated it when my parents switched the channel to watch this. But now I like this

  • I remember the themes to "Days of our Lives," "All My Children." and "The Price is Right." since kindergarten.

  • This reminds me of being home from school, sick...otherwise, I never saw daytime TV after I turned 5. What I would not give to go back to the late 60's-early 70's! My biggest worry was "would I be well enough to go to my friend's birthday party?" Those were the days. Adulthood sucks!

  • Whoever disliked this video doesn't care for the old days of sands running through that hourglass...

  • I love this opening, these new soap openings can kiss my ass!

  • Honestly I don't remember if my mom watched this or not. But I'll tell you this much: This is one of my favorites! I heard the new shortened version..Hated it!

  • This reminds me of my childhood wow! makes me miss my grandma she watched this everyday!

  • ah i just love this :)

  • I remember hearing the opening chimes when my daycare provider was preparing lunch in the 80's. You just knew something great would follow the intro: a great show.

  • dust

    wind

    dude

  • Like sand in your underpants, so are the days of our lives

  • dont know why but i find this old intro very creepy

  • I remember this music, i think back to when I was a child and my mom and aunt

sitting together watching this! and they would drink tea :)

  • Thanks so much for sharing this and great details regarding the copyright detail. This is indeed a ghost from childhood!

  • love this

  • i miss the days when i watched this show everyday.

  • This brings back so many childhood memories of staying at my grandparents' house. One o'clock in the afternoon (we lived in Southern California), this would play through the house, without fail.

  • rofl used to hear this music all the time when i used to fake being sick and be at my nonna's house. then when i was 16 home from work lol again faking I used to have this show on in the background and after a while got hooked wtaching it every day lol. Watched it everyday for years. Not as much anymore. Not the same.

  • I fucking hate this show

  • I miss the credits where he says this is McDonald Carey.

  • @cherberrie Me too

  • I'm almost 40 and my mother has watched this for as long as I can remember. I used to watch it with her when I was a kid, and loved it. Every once in a while I check in (I work nights). It's a shame what the show has become, but my mom still watched it... :)

  • this garbage is what makes america stupid. i rather watch my hero john cena win matches than seeing fake drama from soaps....and i love washing myself with soap than watching it. Wrestling is more real than garbages like these

  • This theme reminds me of when I was a kid in the early 70's and was home sick from school. My mom would NOT let me go out and play if I stayed home from school so I would always wait for this show to come on. The theme was my cue that I could sneak out because my mom was too busy watching this show to notice I was gone.

  • My mom used to love this show , I only watched it when I stayed home from school .

  • @TheMasterSergeant1 - your mom will love the Days of our Lives 45 Years Celebration in Photos book ! there is a video on youtube for it and it comes out in NOV 2010 :)

  • I'm another 40-something who got a heavy dose of soaps on sick days at Grandma's. Oh, and over summer vacation. The game shows, too. Grandma loved $25,000 Pyrmid, and loved the daytime Wheel of Fortune, but she always complained about how knobby Vanna White's knees were when she wore shorter dresses. She mostly watched the CBS soaps, but I remember this one, too.

  • id watch it instead of anything else

  • back in the days

  • When I die and go to heaven, I wanna watch every episode of Days of Our Lives from the beginning in 1965 all the way through and continue the series from the day I died. :O

  • Those graphics look SO primitive now!

  • @jkingsmill

These weren't graphics, they literally filmed an actual hourglass for this opening. The one they used from 1993 forward uses CGI.

  • @SuperTugz What does CGI stand for?

  • @Cyclops236 it stands for computer generated imagery. This means a computer is able to make not real objects.

  • i love days. i hope bo dies. he sucks.

  • Man, this is pretty creepy aha.

  • If you had to get up and change the channel..if you remember when ther National Anthem was sung by The Singing Angels at the END of the broadcast day...If you remember when Morey safer, dan rather, and Mike Wallace were correspondants for CBS....you might be a little grey....lol

  • it really is a classic opening...

  • Hypnotic, haunting yet sweet!

  • Craig Mack - Real Raw

  • Hahahaha, the 1993 one is better :L

  • When I was a kid I loved Days, AW, Search and Santa Barbara!

  • loved MacDonald Carey in the Hitchcock flick "Shadow of A Doubt".

  • i hate the way they have shortened it and cute ou the chimes at the beginning

  • wow, r.i.p mcdonald carey.

  • I have got to find me an Hourglass, so i can pay Homage to Days of our Lives.

  • Days of our Lives is my Favorite Soap Opera.

  • 未知との遭遇!!!

  • this theme is my childhood...still haunting and beautiful

  • @jajvick lol

  • @jajvick wait til you see the Days of our Lives 45 Years A Celebration in Photos video for the book which comes out this November 2010 and it looks incredible.

  • @jajvick even though I was born in 1990 this is the theme I most remember. Whenever I hear Days of Our Lives I hear that theme song. It's a simple yet beautiful and pleasant intro song.

  • @jajvick Me also.

  • @jajvick me too

  • @jajvick That's pretty sad dude

  • Days is the best soap opera and has the best theme music ever!

  • My Official YouTube Channel

  • Hearing this tune always reminds me of sitting in a waiting room at the Doctors office......

  • It was announced earlier today, Thu Feb 4, 2010 that Frances Reid passed away at age 95. Godspeed to Frances.

  • I didn't know about that one.

  • Holy fuck this show is old

  • This makes me miss my grandmother. When I lived with her during the summer I'd always hear this filtering down from upstairs.

  • @Reemii I agree with you on both counts. Passions = horrible. And Days stopped being good in the 90's. But I was 15 when I was watching soaps... I don't watch that crap anymore. It's just a bit nostalgic to me, that's all.

  • I remember this theme in the late 70's when I was home sick from school, and during summer vacation.Didn't appreciate how beautiful the music was then, but I do now.

  • brings back memories right? lol!

  • Have to wonder how many grains of sand are left, one less after today right?

  • passions and days of our lives were my shows. i used to love these shows when i was little! now it just fake stuff we lost our geneuration

  • Days of Our Lives was from the early 70's...Passions was in 1999 O_o how can you hae been at wo time periods at once?

  • days - 1965. passions 1999

  • Days of our lives is still running. I also watched Passions and Days back to back in the early 2000's.

  • If i ever get an Hourglass, i would instantly do my own Opening to "Days of our Lives", because that's my Favorite Soap.

  • Like Sands through the Hourglass, So are the Days of our Lives.

  • This brings back memories of my childhood days at my grandma's house. At one in the afternoon, my twin sis and I would be napping but I could hear the intro and whatever else from the next room. My grandma is 82 today and she is still a dedicated viewer!

  • Without a Doubt, Days of our Lives is my Favorite Soap Opera.

  • THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES

  • This opening was more classier than the current opening.

  • This was the best soap opera opening ever. All of the old soap openings were good but this one sticks out the most. This and the old Y&R opening.

  • Comment removed

  • This old intro and theme music is so much better then the one they have now. It's too computerized now and it's great that they still use MacDonald Carey's voice but in the current intro he sounds sick and frail. This old one he sounds healthy. They need to go back to the old school intro BUT somehow have Alice's face in the hourglass - a tribute to her and Tom

  • I feel like the reason Macdonald Carey's voice sounds so frail and sick is because they keep running it through filters and processors to "clean it up" and remove noise, improve intonation, to fit with the high quality recording for the music and the rest of the show. They've almost overprocessed his voice now.

  • @rockyraccoon1979, i liked the computerized one.

  • aaaalright who watched this and immediately thought of close encounters :D

  • The original theme was the best...thanks

  • Whenever I hear the theme song for this show I am transported back to being a sick kid at home in the early 70's. My mom used to watch this soap opera religiously. Being a kid back in the 70's was the best! I really feel sorry that my kids will never know the same inner peace I had when growing up.

  • Ditto

  • It always kind of bothered me that the title is written with a lower-case "O" in the word "Our". It really * should* be written "Days of Our Lives". But I guess this kind of thing bothers me more than it does most people. :)

  • Yes, but you are not alone.

  • Reminds me of being at my Grandmother's house on a school sick day.

  • reminds me of being at my mothers house on a school sick day.

  • Reminds me of being home on the couch with broken arm in 1986 then of course 23 years later I'm still addicted to the show. It was way better then but I digress.

  • Edward Macdonald Caray 1913-1994.

  • To be a child in the 70s and home sick....nothing but soap operas from 11 am to 3 pm! No video games. No Internet. No DVDs. No cell phones. No text messaging. Kids today would probably blow their brains out.

  • There were always game shows, weren't there? I mean I was a kid in the 80s, and that's what I used to watch.

  • @doobie4416 THANK U

  • I totally agree Doobie. I grew up as a kid myself during that period of time. I was much happier without all the high-tech gimmicks. Remember kids today are indeed a bit different than when we grew up.

  • @doobie4416

At least they had All in the Family back then. Also, Jack Benny reruns.

  • @doobie4416 Hahahaha! Oh man, you absolutely NAILED it!

  • @eldo500 These were also the days before cable TV, so wow, talk about being bored out of your mind!

  • @doobie4416

at 11am The Price is Right kicks in an hour then lunch time hits. channel surf (actually had to get up and turn the knob until cable TV arrived).

  • @doobie4416 I know what you mean. The only difference with me was that I was on the soap opera merry-go-round watching them on Channel 7 here where I live. That meant Ryan's Hope (at noon in the mid 70s), All My Children at 1pm from 1970/1994, One Life To Live at 2pm (1973/1994), and General Hospital at 3pm (Luke & Laura's wedding to around 1994 or 95. Kid's today wouldn't know what you're talking about. It's a totally different world today.

  • @doobie4416 I know I sure as hell would kill myself.

  • @doobie4416 LMAO....it was either that or I love Lucy.....I soo miss those days...where have all the good times gone?

  • @doobie4416 And don't forget the game shows too like The Price is Right, Family Feud, Card Sharks and Password....... Back then all that was the best part about staying home sick from school.

  • @doobie4416

    Hahahahahaha.

So true. I remember having the mumps and there was nothing on TV but game shows and soaps. I couldn't wait for 3 PM to watch the cartoons. Then in the late 1970's I got hooked on General Hospital. My all time favorite soap opera is EDGE OF NIGHT.

  • @doobie4416

I know! Three channels. ABC, CBS, NBC......Everyone's at work.....Home alone. How did we stand all those commercials and not being able to fast forward through them? LOL

  • @mark40511 PBS had some entertaining shows that were entertaining and educational during the afternoon.Shows like Inside Out,Things and Images,Astronomy shows,Clyde Frog and many others.

  • @doobie4416 YES THEY WOULD

  • @doobie4416 no not blow their brains out.. but hang themselves either in the bathroom or a closet!!!

  • @doobie4416 not true for me.PBS had some cool instructional television shows at that time of the day

  • @doobie4416 i like it know im watching it right now Ej trying to take sydney and Jhonny

  • Dutch: zoals zand door een zandloper glijdt, zo verglijden de dagen van ons leven.

Engels: Like sand throught to an hourglass so our de days of our live

  • lol, sounds like Alladin or something! xD

  • As a kid, any time I heard this theme playing, I knew it was the start of soap opera time on NBC and that the game shows were done for now...

  • Yeeeeaaaaa! You are SO right...

  • You can tell the sand's not running through the hour glass - it's a string!

  • lol it is how cheap like strings through the hourglass lmao

  • As Estelle Costanza would have said: I'VE BEEN DUPED"!

  • my mom laughs at me cause i watch this with her apparently its funny when a 17 year old guy watches days of our lives

  • please don't take my comment the wrong way but I've never heard of a straight guy watching soaps.

    And I've investigated.

PS: I'm a guy who loves soaps. ;)

  • MacDonald Carey was on a LONG time! I used to watch sometimes with my mom in 1987-88 when it was Steve & Kayla, Victor & Justin Kiriakis, Drew, Roman, that whole bunch...Beau and Hope were away...memories!

  • One Day, I ought to get myself an Hourglass, so that I can do my own "Days of our Lives" Opening. Days of our Lives is my Favorite Soap Opera.

  • Comment removed

  • You know, I remember when I was real little, when my mother would babysit us, she would always watch this. I found it real boring of course, but being five years old, it can be boring.

  • I love the 90s-recent version of the theme. It's more orchestral and sweeping. I don't watch on a regular basis, but if I catch the beginning, I'll stick around for the theme.

  • I am a male and not ashamed to admit that I have watched this show since I was 8and still watch to this day. I am 33 now and when I was a kid, if I was home and heard this theme, it was time for me sleep. It also meant that all the game shows where off for the day until at least 3pm here in New York. Ahhhh... the memories.

  • Same here brotha, I'm male and I watch this shit LOL. After all, it's just a TV show and the reason why i started watching this was because my dad watched it.

  • You're the only one I know of so far who has the ORIGINAL theme to 'Days Of Our Lives'. The theme that was written for violin and cello. I've always preferred this one over the remakes. You wouldn't happen to have the complete (Original) closing theme would you?

  • best soap EVER!

  • My grandma has been watching this show from episode 1! May days live on!

  • THANK YOU, tvercetti. FINALLY someone else who thought that that intro was creepy. and the spooky music DID NOT help at all..I guess I'll just lay back now and wait for all the "poor comment" ratings..

  • It's all right. I used to be freaked out by those manual credit crawls from the 70s and 80s, especially the one on the Price is Right (the part where the credit zoomed in slightly).

  • this one i remember, too bad the announcer just says the first line now and not the second line. i miss that a lot

  • this intro sort of depresses me. even when i was a kid i hated it..brings back boring memories.

  • That's a great comment! So true.

  • It's not creepy, SHUT UP

Very convinient for all of you to have had nightmares of this when you were kids. Jeez..
