islandmonkey007 - the video is part of my interviews with people for an article I wrote about the experience of female circumcision in Malaysia. This was a reaction to allegations of severe FGM in Malaysia. I also spoke to mothers, academics, Islamic researchers and scholars, and consulted statistics and papers.
I purposely called it 'female circumcision' and not FGM because of this, but of UN lumps it as FGM too, n of coz in other places it is more severe.

This video is misleading. Some of the female genital mutilations (FGM) in Asian Muslim cultures only involve cutting off a VERY SMALL part of the tip of the female foreskin (aka..clitoral hood). This is probably the case with these women. They look like Malaysians There are four types of FGM. They are circumcision, labiadectomy, clitoradectomy, and infibulation. They can be committed seperately or combined. True female circumcision involves cutting off the foreskin/prepuce (clitoral hood) only!
@islandmonkey007 I think in Malaysia it is more commonplace for the entire clitoris to be removed (clitoridectomy), which prevents masturbation and clitoral orgasms but does not result in frigidity or prevent a physical barrier to premarital intercourse, unlike infibulation.
@islandmonkey007 how about you just leave the genitals of the people and tell them to wash with soap and water. say no to circumcision of all people male or female. just pull the foreskin back and clean your self once a day like the rest of your body. truly you need education in anatomy and physiology.
I wouldn't say so. I think they are more indifferent. But that's my understanding of what they told me. But they were really adamant in saying that it is not a traumatic experience.
@aididrazak Have you also interviewed their husbands? I would expect them to be very glad their wives are circumcised. So if the women are indifferent and the men are happy, overall there's definitely a net gain in happiness as a result of the cutting :-)

Circumcision is must for females. Period.

It's interesting to see how these women found the experience of circumcision relatively uneventful and not painful.

@markmywords53 She probably blocked it out. The mind has a way of doing that to protect itself.

@maybetuesday1790 Either that or maybe they actually enjoyed the experience and are grateful to have lost the bad part?
