I must say that I just checked out the Stand Stills and its amazing how a two-person band can make that kind of sound. Renee the drummer seems very passionate and the lead vocalist Johnny Fox has one of those highly recognizable sounds to his voice, like a Cris Cornel or Jimmy Olsen.

It was based on talent. Cornell is unbelievably talented on record. but live he is out of tune constantly. You are right, early Soundgarden he sounds better, but I still think he is overrated. I mean I haven't seen one video of him where he sounds as good live as he does on a record and it makes me wonder, how many takes does he have to do in a studio? And, if you can't re-create that sound live, then how good are you?

there's 1 caveat to your argument my friend

1) in Soundgarden, on recordings he's not playing guitar while he's singing, it's near impossible for him to recreate his studio sound live while doubling on guitar

btw, i know elvis, mccartney and sometimes vedder play guitar live, but their vocal sounds are/were much easier to recreate live even with a guitar. however, i dont disagree with your other choices of singers, very good. but cornell should also be there lol

I saw Chris Cornell recently, he performed 'Spoonman', 'Fell on black days' and 'black hole sun' from the Soundgarden days,it was great, but nothing close to what it would be with a reunited Soundgarden, sigh
