The drag chute wasn't added until Endeavour was built. She was the first to use the chute on her maiden flight, STS-49. The rest of the fleet was later retrofitted with the chute. In fact, the chute hasn't been used on every flight since it was taken into use. It was never used on STS-95 in 1998 because a cover in front of the compartment where it was stowed during the flight came off during the launch.
Was this the last landing with chase plane camera views? I always missed those after they stopped.

I don't believe it was used on the STS-88 landing by Endeavour either. But you are correct about STS-95.
