Beg, borrow or steal the music CD by Robert Calvert (of 'Hawkwind' fame) under the psuedoname (and called) 'Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters'
It is a concept album - a sort of black comedy about the whole PAF104 'widowmaker' thing. Not only is it humourous, it contains some fantastic songs. They are interspersed with the aforementioned short comic sketches that form the story . Bob Calvert (RIP) was a true poet and genius....trust me, you will love it. If not just for the subject matter.
The germans pushed their pilots to the limit, that's why so many crashes happened, the italians, spanish and everyone else never had a problem with the 104..'western mig 21' so to speak
That's not so. The attrition rate in German service was not greater than in other air forces! The Italian Air Force had 360 aircraft. They lost 137 (38%) of its F-104s. Canada had the unenviable record of losing over 50 percent of its 200 single-seat CF-104s in flying accidents. That's how it goes. Sad but true!
Pakisan was he first country to have confirm indian kills at night. Pakistan is one of the few countries that has F-16s in combat and scored 100% kills against the russians during the soviet terrortist invasion of afghanistan, in which 2 million people lost their lives.
The only paf F104 kill at night was a piston engined navy alize.10 starfighters were supplied by king hussain of jordan and a pair were downed by IAF MiG21's over the kutch district.
@insightdubai Well Pakistan did loose 1 F-16 in those engagements. But it was a friendly fire, the PAF pilot ejected safely. PAF also has a 100% kill ratio against Israel. Some PAF pilots served Arab airforces of Syria, Jordan and probably Egypt too and scored multiple kills in 67 and 73. There are speculations of direct PAF engagement over the Afghan border in which PAF shattered the Israeli Airforce.
Are you on crack cocaine or something??? When Israeli planes engage Arabs/Muslims/sheep fuckers, the latter are usually the ones to eject.
Sure, Israeli planes are sometimes shot down, but they are hardly "shattered" as you put it.
Israeli pilots are the best in the world for one simple reason: they HAVE to be. USAF acquaintances of mine who served at Nellis all say the same thing: in competition, the IAF always kicks USAF ass. (said with love, of course)
@nagmashdriver You must b the 1 high, or u would hav checked the facts b4 spewing something right out of ur ###. I think when u hav a 100% kill ratio with at least 4-5 confirmed kills others classified, u probably can call it shattered. Here r some quick examples for u to shut up if you r sane:
PAF pilot, F/L Saiful Azam flying Iraqi Hunter Shot Israeli Mirage III flown by Gideon Dror on June 7 1967. Moments later he scored his 2nd kill, an escaping Vatour bomber...
... Earlier on June 6th he had shot a Super Mystere over Jordan. He received awards from both Jordan and Iraq. The stick of the Mirage sits in a PAF pilot house. He was not the only one, PAF pilots on deputation from PAF to various Arab air forces did this to a few other IAF b@$#@rds during all wars. Funny that those pilots flew the equipment of host Arab nations which included Russian Migs and some Brit a/c that they were not trained on....
... Wonder what would hav been if they were flying their own a/c!! Well there r some classified engagements over Pak, Afghan border during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan (BTW check out PAF kills against Soviet Air Force, PAF lost one a/c but that was friendly fire) where PAF and IAF engaged directly, no prizes for guessing who won. Nothing in Pakistan was damaged like the Iraqi reactor.
... On the 2 occasions I know of that PAF was invited 2 the US exercises, PAF pilots won hands down. I hav personally seen the F-16s with 'top gun' painted on their noses. I had 2 find out why.
Anyway that won't shut u up coz most Israeli advocates I hav met r simply cracked & not receptive 2 facts or reason. No offense if U r not among them, but I hav wasted too much time describing stuff I didn't have 2. U can look up names of others if u want. I'll prob not reply here again, sweet dreams!!
The Starfighter by Lockeed was designed by the same guy behind the P-38 (Kelly Johnson) also which crashed alot with incompletely trained pilots. With the jet's short wings, it was unforgiving on takeoff--viewers would see balls of fire at the end of the runway which gave the plane its nickname, widowmaker.
@billgbg In the PAF its earned the nickname 'Badmash' (Rouge or Mugger) because Indian Airforce would often clear up the sky by the mere mention of its presence on wireless radio.
