  • its not that he cant sing the old way . im assuming he just wants a more mature vocal sound

  • They are SOLD OUT in my town and I have NO tickets!! That SUCKS.

  • @theSqueal Gotta go to Thunderbay nice.....

  • THIS SONG IS SOOOO SICK!

  • @archambault84 Yesss (:

  • What happened to the house they blew up in bowmanville for a music video?

  • The title of the song is is very appropriate and fitting. Because as of right now, according to my ITunes,I've listened to this song over 400 times in less than two short months. Not including the times I've listened to it on here or the radio.

  • They still got it.

  • @lenguy45 I totally agree with you

love both bands but OLP and NB are completely different, OLP are better imo

  • Thank you FM96^^

  • Our lady peace one of thee best all time over looked bands!!!!!

  • I fucking love this song!

  • Sex to my ears

  • Comment removed

  • Better than I expected. Of course, I wish they could get back to the more guitar oriented rock of the first two albums. This is definitely better than Burn Burn, though.

  • Tickets sold out when they went on sale TODAY and I went to buy them TODAY! Burn Burn was very weak in my opinion, but this song is a step back in the right direction. It will never compare to what Spiritual Machines did for me, but this song is amazing. Here's to hoping the album will be on the level of Gravity... or hopefully at least Healthy in Paranoid Times :D

  • Another thing worth noting - the length of the song. It's not 3 minutes long. It's as long as it needs to be, and not tailored for radio play.

  • The falsetto is back!

Best part of Burn Burn was the falsetto in Paper Moon, it reminded me of the good old days. Now it's making a real return!

  • AWESOME new single guys. Please don't stop ever creating music guys. When you're all old, in wheelchairs, sipping your onions and liver through a straw I will STILL be there cheering you on hoping I don't shit my man sized huggy.

  • good song! always so good

  • They finally gave up the our lady preach bull shit that happened after spiritual machines

  • saw them in niagara falls canada. Great performance.

  • great single just love the group there great

  • I just miss when Raine still had more vocal range and showed it off...

  • @conflictfree88 i actually hate people like you. They make songs for us (they can quit right now if they want) and people like you keep complaining about things. 2 decades of touring, no shit his voice wont have same vocal range + ageing, but they still make music and dont give up, only to have people like you shit on them. fuck if you think theyre such a disappointment then gtfo their new stuff, we dont want pessimists like you. on another note, OLP is fucking amazing and will always be.

  • @sitstandnow Of course Raine's voice has lost range over time! I said nothing to indicate otherwise. I miss his youthful voice. That's what drew me to the band in the first place. I think it's fair for me to have fluctuating opinions of a band if their sound also fluctuates. I love their old stuff, but not the new work. If feels like made-for-top-40, and for good reason. Come on - the guy wrote an album for Avril Lavigne! His style has changed, but what I loved about the old work hasn't.

  • @sitstandnow Now as far as this song goes, I came here with high hopes (cos he said this was written to sound like Clumsy/Naveed), and found more of the same as the last two albums. As for pessimism, I think you need to reread my original comment. I didn't say that I miss when he wrote good songs, or that I miss when he could remember his own songs... but last time I saw them live he couldn't remember his lyrics and the last time I hear a single from them it sounded like a Nickelback clone.

  • @conflictfree88 Well considering the last single you heard from them was this and considering this sounds nothing like Nickelback, I would say your wrong. Even on their worst day,OLP and NB sound nothing alike. This coming from somebody who doesn't mind much of NB's work. Two completely different styles.

  • @conflictfree88 "the lsat time I hear a single from them it sounded like a Nickelback clone."

In what way? Timbre, melody, lyrical similarities? I'd like to see a more valid argument than "it feels like made-for-top-40" before you so comfortably make these kinds of judgements. I hope you realize the classics (such as Pink Floyd, R.E.M, Beastie Boys, to name a few) were all "Popular" music at the time...

  • @conflictfree88 ...By means of "American Bandstand," teenagers were subjected to what we now consider "Top 40 music." In no way am I saying OLP is any where near the talent of Floyd but...

  • @conflictfree88 ... does that mean it is acceptable to assume all "Top 40 Popular Music" of 2012 isn't worth listening to? I mean, there must be SOME reason that millions seem to enjoy it.

  • @sitstandnow agreed!!

  • @conflictfree88 I agree but I also think that after the way he has stretched his voice on earlier songs over the years he's lucky to have one.

  • After Burn Burn I almost didn't even want to ever give them another chance, but this is great. The best offering since HIPT.

  • @Flasbergo I thought that Healthy in Paranoid Times (like Burn Burn) was pretty bad. In fact Raine Maida himself gave an interview where he said he was really disappointed with HIPT (I quoted that interview in another comment.) But this song really sounds like their classic material, i.e. from Naveed through Spiritual Machines.

  • @Flasbergo It sounds like it came off the Burn Burn record. It's the same sound. All of their music is unique. Every band is going to produce something that may not be your favorite, but you must applaud the fact that they're exploring and constantly developing themselves. They are one band that I can honestly say are in it for the music.

  • @krystalobrien This song definitely doesn't sound like Burn Burn

  • I love it

  • The lyrics are perfect

  • Better than the crap they've released over the past decade, but still not up to the lofty standard set by Spiritual Machines.

  • I'm not a big fan of the lyrics, but the sound is definitely reminiscent of the older catalog, so for that I approve.

  • @BryanEverson not a big fan when lyrics have the theme of an apocalypse?

  • @switjordy I'm not talking about the tone of the lyrics, I'm talking about the actual word choice. Maybe Raine isn't smoking as much pot as he was before. Masturbation, Birdman, "the world's a subway." Like that.

  • @BryanEverson Or maybe Raine just grew up and started using more universal words.

  • I can't wait til they come out with Curve, and can't even wait to see them FOR THE FIRST TIME... thank you for planning to make a stop in Peterborough :)

  • Chills!

  • Loved hearing Raine's falsetto!

  • thank you cab driver who got me into this song! good karma to you good man!

  • these guys and blly talent!!!! they are my canadian influences!!

  • gotta live olp.....i liked their music since i was a teenager and i have all their albums...cheers

  • Love it, video, song, everything.... :D

  • Great song, shitty video.

  • @captainwacky45 You have a really bad taste about the videos, mate!

  • @captainwacky45 Not a fan of boxing, I take it...

  • 20 some years you never disappoint!! I've love this band from my teens and I've passed it on to my "kids" who are now 19 yrs old....love this new stuff!!! Awesome!!

  • :D "CURVE" TE NEW OLP ALBUM OUT APRIL 3 2012, GUESS WHO IS GOING TO HMV THAT MORNING? (or walmart, but then again last time we got a new cd was black keys el camino when it came out, we literally had to open the cd box to get it before it was on the shelf xD)

  • This remind me of the Fighthing Spirit Anime...or,in japanese,Hajime No Ippo...or,in spanish ,Espiritu De Lucha xD!...also remind me of Chris Benoit and Barcelona

  • @shatsbassoon29 You obviously failed to read my comment, my point was I'm dissapointed in the new direction. I also stated that other fans like it so it's all good anyways, it was a personal opinion and I said as much

  • This is like the 3 hundred'th time i've listened to this song! I love it!!! The effects on Raine's vocals kinda remind me of Right Behind You from Spiritual Machines. Hope this album is as close too as bad ass as that record!!

  • Closing the gap, almost back to clumsy, 4am, etc. Amazing song. Keep up the good work. I can see this song hitting the top 10 for rock charts. Don't hate, lyrics, message is great. Great song

  • For the record, I actually like some songs on Gravity. But not because I think they're good songs. They appeal to me in the same way that 'kars for kids' commercial does. I like hearing it in spite of the fact that it totally sucks.

  • At last, the prodigal son has returned. I'm preparing to feast on this new record!

  • @govtschemes Agreed. Yes, OLP chose Bob Rock for their new direction. But that direction was obvious... To compromise and try to become famous rock stars. Thats Bob Rock (see motley crue, bon jovi, aerosmith). OLP was too progressive and rad to be a generic rock/ballad band on their own. So they compromised and let Bob dictate. Can't knock people for making more money. But I can knock the generic 'music' they dished and argue that it's ThreeDoorsCreedlebackofMuddBox20.

  • @lenguy45 'My point is that nobody tried to change them... Bob kept shooting them down.' Do you really not get it? Bob Rock is a mega label producer. Bands sign on to learn how they can be bigger (not more creative or expressive). You can like the 'Rock' era. But don't be naive about what the band was trying to do or why they made changes. Big label producers change bands. Looking like they've righted the ship now though.

  • @reerikavenger Because that was the point. They were counting on that for a new direction. Which they were successful in doing so. They had that time and now it seems that they want to try and reinvent themselves again by mixing both the new and older sound. This is why I love this band, constant reinvention. I won't argue with the fact that they wanted to be bigger. They needed more exposure in other countries, namely American. My point is,regardless of the decision they made and

  • @govtschemes circumstances behind any of it.

  • Comment removed

  • @govtschemes Whether its layered or cryptic as their old stuff, it doesn't matter because the band is still passionate about the music they make and that's enough for me the remain a fan because they still have that passion and fire. Obviously when it comes down to it you could hardly careless about the people behind the band as long as they create music that YOU want to hear and when its not you lable them as sell outs because you are too thickheaded to understand the

  • @govtschemes Commercial junk band? Man you just don't get it. Lets just agree to disagree. You call it selling out,I'll call it a new direction. Also yes, throw it out there. You make an album and hope for the best. You obviously misinterpreted what I meant. OLP puts their heart and soul into their music. Do you realize what the band went through to create Healthy? It nearly tore them apart on several different occasions. Its because the band is passionate about their music.

  • @lenguy45 'Bob kept shooting them down.' Lol. Epic fail. You just proved the point you're trying to shoot down. -Insert foot in mouth-.

  • @reerikavenger What fail? What are you talking about? You obviously failed to comprehend what I said. My point is that nobody tried to change them, they changed because they felt it was what the band needed. Some people actually don't mind that change because we aren't butt hurt bitter fans who can't get over the fact that artists change. They don't need your approval. _insert butthurt fan here-

  • @govtschemes If you like it then fine, if you don't then oh well. Case in point, you can't please everybody. That's not what OLP is trying to do.

  • Comment removed

  • @govtschemes Again, really shows what you know. Raine keep going to Bob with the same style of lyrics as the first 4 albums but Bob kept shooting them down. Claiming the audiences like to know what singers are actually talking about. Perhaps you didn't know or maybe just refuse to see but there are people out there who couldn't stand the old OLP. They are trying to appeal to nobody. Bottom line is it is music they wanted to create. They make and throw it out there.

  • ...songs like heavyweight and the wolf and I'm back on board. The last 3 records will be like what rocks dream of. Nothing...

  • ...falsetto removed, free wheeling mid range bass, diverse gtr tones, and very present technical drumming all gone. They went from creative, thoughtful and real sounding to perfect, polished and produced. They did it on purpose - to be more accessible. Don't argue with that. It would be foolish. Now, I am pumped by this new sound. Warnings, heavyweight, the wolf. And moreso by the fact the band owns the reasoning for the last 3 records. We get it. We forgive you. Name the new album, keep making

  • This one is obvious guys. From a production and songwriting standpoint to the image standpoint, Gravity and Bob Rock marked a period where OLP wanted to be 'rock stars'. Look at their cool shades and leather in their videos. So dope. :( Dumbed down lyrics, power chords, 'somewhere out there' - song with a chorus and verse that belonged to two different songs thrown together by Bob Rock, vocal doubling, low frequency bass tones, big anthemic gtr solos. Abstraction was removed, classic falsetto r

  • @govtschemes Obviously money? Sure shows what you know. They hired Bob because of his know work. They hired Bob because they wanted a new direction, for a fresh take on their music. Sure money could factor in, what artist doesn't want to make a bit more money? Maida has been pretty outspoken about his time with Bob. He compliments him that he helped him become a better song writer. Bob help Raine write more simple, straight to the point lyrics because as unlikely as it sounds

  • To be honest I like their older stuff better than this. But don't get me wrong that doesn't mean that this isn't kick-ass shit. I just miss the songs like 4am, Supermans Dead and Clumsy. Those are the song that really get me thinking and understanding music, not just thinking about it. But anyways im not the only olp fan and i think others like this more pop sounding stuff. I really love the chorus to this song though it brings me back to their older stuff. Verses aren't my style but still good.

  • @RicharddXp *Those are the song that really get me thinking and understanding music, not just listening to it.* My bad typo but still great music. Clumsy was my favourite album followed by gravity then Happiness isnt a fish that you can catch.

  • @RicharddXp Not like Sups Dead, 4am and Clumsy have gone anywhere. OLP have never looked to make a Clumsy2 or a Naveed2. It's called diversity and the reason most fans enjoy their music.

  • @shatsbassoon29 they don't have to make a Clumsy2 or Naveed2... but Happiness Is Not A Fish and Spiritual Machines were still diverse but kept to their signature alt retro grunge paranoid rock vibe... but that crap afterwards. Did not.

  • @govtschemes And you know what? They might have been poppy the last few albums, but that doesn't mean they were bad, they were ALL GOOD actually, even HIPT, for what it was worth. And they sure as fuck don't need to listen to retards like you haha

Turner, again, was NEVER THE BAND... I'd rather think Coutts is more important, by the way Turner plays. Turner might have been better for playing TO the band, but Mazur >>>> Turner in skill, flash, flexibility for the band, energy, etc. stunned?

  • Comment removed

  • @lenguy45 Amen. Nothing else.

  • I wonder if the guys from the band read the comments on their videos...

  • @govtschemes Who cares what Raine thinks? Who cares what you think. last time I check, you don't call the shots. Also, A carbon copy? Of who? Not may people out there can sing on the same level as Maida. Have you even listen to this song? The dudes still got it. People need to stop acting as if they know whats best for the band. You wanna talk about success? You may not like it but Gravity proved to be one of the bands more successful albums. Then despite being their most critically

  • @govtschemes Here is a reason why you will never see turn in the band again. This is a direct quote from Raine: "I don’t know if Mike was born to be a guitar player. The studio was a tough place for him and we were working too hard to make up for it – we felt like we were cheating ourselves. Four albums is way too fucking long to put up with that. I’m sure he’ll do great things, just not with six-stringed instruments".

  • @govtschemes Mike Turner was OLP? This this is the kind of ignorance I can't tolerate. Stop acting as if Turner was the one sole member of the band,he was not. Bringing him back won't change a thing. Ultimately its the band as a unite that decides which direction they go in,not one member. It was the kind of decision that swayed the him and the band to move on without one another. So they did, they found a replacement, moved on and so should you.

  • @govtschemes ridiculous statement. i loved mike as much as the next olp fan but... no. +if you hate new olp so much...... don't listen to it? or mikes doing "great" things with crash karma, go listen to that...... oh.

  • warrants were issued for all the band members of OLP. Because they MURDERED with this song.... >.>

  • AMAZING TRACK!

  • @govtschemes you serious? more like Turner should be rhythm and Mazur lead.. Mazur is BOTH technical and flashy, something that Turner didn't really have, though he knew how to play TO the band. You said it yourself haha. And Mazur is getting better every album, Turner's best work was Naveed (just technically)

  • Best OLP single in years. I have high hopes for the new album.

  • @chicagosportsmike My sentiments exactly.

  • @chicagosportsmike This ^^. I was quite disappointed in the last couple OLP albums, this sounds like a great start!

  • @chicagosportsmike A Naveed vibe for me - about time

  • @chicagosportsmike I agree, finally got away from this pop CRAP of the early 2000's

  • Guys congratulations on making it again to the Top Downloads this week on DMDS!

  • i don't think raine or any other member of the band gives 2 shits what a couple fans have to say about how they've changed and they don't sound as good cuz at the end of the day, its what they like in their music and i love change. olp rocks!

  • @RickStick18 Actually Raine Maida said about Healthy in Paranoid Times that "(the) record was total excess, total bullshit in the sense of, we finally had succumbed to a label: making us record that many songs, trying to find the right singles for American radio and MTV."

Since then they keep talking about going back to their original sort of sound; that's why Burn Burn was more rock-and-roll and that's what partly inspired their tour playing "Clumsy" and "Spiritual Machines" in their entirety

  • Good lord that chorus is so awesome. It really does feel like it could have been sandwiched between Ray Kurzweil soundbytes

  • I'M JUMPING UP AND DOWN IN EXCITEMENT BECAUSE RAINE MAIDA SOUNDS LIKE RAINE MAIDA FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE SPIRITUAL MACHINES!!!!!

  • I actually like this song a lot...

  • **Time to move on...damn typos..I wish you could edit your comments. If there is a way then somebody let me know, I don't usually use Youtube comment sections.

  • True, some OLP albums weren't as good as others, but no one here can say they didn't find some enjoyment in at least one song on those albums. As far as I am concerned, OLP has not released a truly bad album.

  • Awesome song. It's not quite perfect, but it has a style that bodes well for the rest of the album. I cannot wait to hear it!

  • This song is amazing.

  • OLP KILLED it tonight in Niagara Falls. BLEW my mind that Simple Plan was highlighting the show and not these guys! Out of respect SP should have backed right the hell off!!

  • @Mpreece7 I don't mind Simple Plan. Don't listen to them much anymore, but I don't mind them. With that said, they'll always be an opener band to me. OLP, however, is an ultimate main stage band. They should headline pretty much every show they're in.

  • @Mpreece7 If it was SP's show out of respect OLP shouldn't have stolen the spotlight ;)

  • @hollingsworth86 Pffff OLP stole nothing after 19 years they EARNED it! They can't help it if they are awesome!

  • I saw them tonight, they played this song, it's so amazing live I couldn't believe how good they were

  • Excellent! Loving the new song. Bit disappointed that - as bloody usual - it's only available on iTunes US/Canada. And people wonder why music is downloaded illegally! Prime example right here so thanks for nothing iTunes. Guess I'll have to wait till my next trip across the pond. I've met the boys and they are utter sweethearts and lets not forget they rock! So why shouldn't everyone around the world get to enjoy their music!

  • @anarchiccaramelpie13 If you're from Europe they're touring this July!

  • I will take my old 45 yr old ass lol and love this music!! and I will take my 19l18 and 13 yr old and we will all love OLP because in my family its become a part of our history; but thank you for new music we still love!!

  • I love this! Of course it's different from their older stuff but all good bands evolve over time. If they continued playing music that sounded the same then people would complain that they were boring. Still an incredible band :)

  • I am glad Bob Rock is gone

  • This actually isn't that shitty, I'm surprised. Maybe OLP is coming back?

  • @GreasyItalianStalion Yeah man, follow them on facebook or twitter. Their 8th album should be out in the next few months.

  • @GreasyItalianStalion Coming back they never left lol.

  • @Theblackmetalist Uh, Gravity says hi lol.

  • @TazAgainstTheMachine what about gravity that was a good album just like the rest Just like Raine maida said in a recent interview the old music clumsy and that people dont want that & they are doing what they pretty much want.

  • @GreasyItalianStalion Man, shut the fuck up, this shits almost every Turner-OLP song you jack off to. Quit living in the fucking 90's, I'd rather have their last 3 albums over more of the same sounding shit anyday.

  • @kennygmang Haha, living in the 90's? You mean when OLP was actually a relevant and unique band?

  • @RoundWounds they've always been relevant and unique...it's just a lot of the fans themselves are irrelevant and couldn't stand the change, ever thought of that? At least they try to change their sound and style up every album, which is what most bands won't even bother to do...

  • @kennygmang Couldn't stand the change? You mean the amazing changes they made between the first four albums? You mean the difference between youthful sound of Naveed and the thought provoking maturity of Spiritual Machines? Is that the change that you're saying I couldn't stand? Don't you find it odd that after Mike left, they stopped working with Arnold Lanni and Raine became the primary songwriter, they produced Gravity, which isn't even close to the quality of the previous albums?

  • @RoundWounds Dude, Raine was always the primary writer. Why do people act as if Mike was the sole member of the band? Its not as if as soon as Mike left the entire bands creativity went with him. Do you understand why the band change? Lanni basically told them it was to move on and try something different. The band was primary know for their unique style and Raines cryptic lyrics. 4 albums of that and they wanted to try something different. Then that somehow offends people?

  • @lenguy45 @kennygmang Do you know why I brought Mike up? Read this quote:

"Basically, his vision and our vision separated," Taggart said of Turner's departure.

"Obviously, there was definitely a feeling for both parties that the vision was changing. The stuff he was writing was a lot different than the stuff we were seeing as a band. The stuff he was writing was cool, but it was different. That is just what happens in relationships".

    So, Gravity (continued...)

  • @lenguy45 @kennygmang

was what the band's "vision" was, and not Mike's. Also, this quote:

"Bob Rock came in with a completely different perspective. Someone of his stature, a world-class producer and a world-class guy, he pushed us and coached us into a place we have never been before."

"There's a little more energy on tape than on previous records, you know. The songs are simpler. They are not as thought out," he said.

There are reasons why I liked OLP's first four albums. (cont)

  • @lenguy45 @kennygmang

and when those elements get tossed aside, why would I enjoy it? Sure, they tried something different, evolved as a band and etc. but that doesn't mean that I HAVE to enjoy it because I'm already a fan. I'm not offended by them changing, I am offended though by people like Kenny telling people to "stop living in the fucking 90's" as if he's part of the band's "internet defence team" or something.

  • @lenguy45 @kennygmang

Also, I didn't know Lanni told them to try something different, I'd like to see a quote or something from an interview that says that. In the end, a member left, they went with a different style and have stayed with a completely different format than the albums/sound I enjoyed. I've listened to the last three albums, coming back everytime and trying them out, and it's just not working for me.

  • @RoundWounds holy are you dumb.... @lenguy45 pretty much answers everything about your reply

  • @GreasyItalianStalion this isn't shitty at all, if your surprised your a phantom OLP fan

  • @GreasyItalianStalion AGREED! LETS PRAY!

  • This song is just so fucking rad.

  • Like it... has an older-school OLP feel to it. Like Gravity/HIPT in a good way. Love the falsetto, its what made me a fan in the first place.

  • Comment removed

  • can't wait for the new album! :)

  • Good to see the boys from Toronto producing another great song.

  • soooo goood.

  • Can't buy this song in the Australian itunes store?

  • @kingzac It just came out like 3 days ago, might not be available yet...

  • @kingzac It goes up on Amazon January 3rd:

  • @hmahmo Thanks mate

  • The chorus is so uplifting!!

  • This songs only been out a few days an according to my ITunes..I've listened to it a staggering 134 times..I guess I really like this song.

  • Awesome, reminds me of "White Flags", one of my favorites off of Burn Burn

  • good new song! that is why olp is still my fav band! <3 loving olp from long island, new york! <3

  • Loving it from Kansas...wish there was a station out here that played OLP :P

  • @ichabod13 Oh man! Same here!

  • goosebumps. This is the sound that brought me to OLP in the first place. Glad it's back!

  • The best I've heard from OLP in years.. I bet if they would have gone for a more modern MMA montage, this video could pick up even more momentum. Sure - that's more mainstream than they would probably prefer, but I feel it'd still be worth it as it would still fit into the "Heavyweight" theme of this song very well.

  • Finally. A bit more crunch to their sound and Raine's falsetto back (even if it isn't as prominent). More MORE MOAR!!!!

  • All along, it hasn't been the exact OLP sound I wanted back, (though the creepy falsetto REALLY helps) it was just the edge in this song. It's like I can feel that they feel it again. That was all I wanted. For them to make something with a bit of a rough and intense edge to it again.

This doesn't sound a ton like Our Lady Peace of old, but at the same time, it sounds EXACTLY like Our Lady Peace did and should sound. It's not Happiness or Clumsy, but it's them again.

  • To the people saying "Fuck Mike Turner" , you are either deaf or just plain stupid! This is a good song, bought it off iTunes today, but just remember Turner was a key part of the chemistry in the making of this band. Without Turner, you would never have heard Naveed, Starseed, Superman's Dead, ANY of the early hits that put this band on the map. I remember hearing Starseed, for the first time, when I was 17. That sound has always stuck with me, and this does NOT have that!

    Good tune, though.

  • @ThisShaneGuy I agree, i loved Turner as much as the other guy, but you gotta give Mazur credit. He's filling some big shoes and doing a remarkable job.

    Opening lick is BOSS!!

  • Songs good, but I think the video is wack. I expect more from OLP!!!

  • @upstartmike even in their heyday, vids were never their strength. Besides, its just a lyric vid.
