I think Kirk sounds better improvising without a track, but Marty sounds better playing improvizing with a track. Martys still my fav guitarists though, Forbidden City is a GODLY solo.

Marty Friedman is just an amazing and original guitarist. His dreamy constructive solos pump you full of energy, and fit perfectly in the amazing and original songwriting of Dave Mustaine.
Its such a nice contrast to see those 2 guys play together.
However, I really can't listen to Marty Friedmans solo work. It lost its energy, it misses the fast & sharp Mustaine riffs, Ellefson pick-bass and straight-to-the-riff drums of Nick.
Listen to the solo from Lucretia, thats EXACTLY what I mean.

Marty Friedman is just an amazing and original guitarist. His dreamy constructive solos pump you full of energy, and fit perfectly in the amazing and original songwriting of Dave Mustaine.
Its such a nice contrast to see those 2 guys play together.
However, I really can't listen to Marty Friedmans solo work. It lost its energy, it misses the fast & sharp Mustaine riffs, Ellefson pick-bass and straight-to-the-riff drums of Nick.
Listen to the solo from Lucretia, thats EXACTLY what I mean.

It seems like virtuosos like Friedman and Becker were extremely good at a very young age... must come natural I guess.

@vignesh675opo I don't think it's fair to compare Marty to Kirk...Marty is a guitar god...I love Metallica...In their prime they were my favorite band with Master being my favorite album of all time....But when it comes to guitar work Marty is in a class by himself...There are plenty of elite guitar players in metal but I wouldn't put Kirk in that class...He's a good guitar player but Marty is far superior.

Megadeth did have their share of "mainstream" time in the mid 90s when they changed to a more traditional metal "radio friendly" sound, but they are not mainstream anymore.
