Peter Kay uses family situations and people watching to create comedy for multiple genres and generations - plus he had an Irish Catholic upbringing which he has used extensively. I'm from the South of England and he represents me and my family through the 70's and 80's just perfectly. A comedy genius IMHO.

Bullocks, I couldn't disagree more. The only humour I am a fan of is British. In fact a site online that I fancy has numerous sit coms/stand up from the BBC of years present and past. There isn't one American sit com that I watch especially the remakes that originated in the UK ie; The Office damn awful here. So pardon but some of us do get the culture and the brilliant humour. ~Cheers~

I think the reason he says that is because many Americans, and indeed other English speaking countries, struggle to understand some British accents (particularly strong Northern British accents). This is even true in our own country! If I were to travel to Liverpool I would struggle to understand them.

Indeed you have some good points there but there is an air of American snobbery that some have and dislike anything just because it is British. Have heard several people share the opinion Brits are stuck up snobs who think too much of themselves. lol My retort is that person hasn't taken a look at hedonism in the US. Having a collection over 100 of British comedies/quiz shows the accents are not so difficult for me. However I did struggle with Ladette to Lady program.
