I think Bill Hader's character was given glasses in the movie so that he looked like McLovin alittle bit. I think its one of those subliminal things where you can connect the two characters together because they look alittle alike. Its meant to say that McLovin could end up like Slater and that Slater was abit like McLovin, which he states in the scene where they catch him in the bedroom.
