I love ROH and have always been a fan since the early days with Joe, Aries,Homicide McGuiness, Punk etc. and ive enjoyed what they've been doing lately Edwards, Richards and the Briscoes, however i feel that WWE Smackdown has been the show of the year. It's been for the most part consistent with all round great matches and engaging storylines. There were some shows that were like 'meh', but for most of this year its been sweet and better than ROH.

As a casual smart fan who usd to follow both at various times, I can say that 2011 has been very underwhelming for both promotiosn for largely different reasons. The point regarding the way in which WWE handled their pushing of Punk et al, is largly the reason why I think WWE has failed, the Rock's return as well. ROH has struggled to adjust to its new TV deal and its roster does not reflect what they are trying to do which is to make inroads into the internet and MMA market. Great topic guys!

1, MMA fans will not watch ROH becomes it comes off as a poorman's MMA.

2. They will not take the focus off of WGTT, at least not until the WM shows.

3. ROH needs a core roster, there are only so many spots on the roster.

4. I respect your opinions, but WWE Smackdown for me and DGUSA/EVOLVE is my favorite indy promotions.

I thought the buzz for Death Before Dishonor was very dull this year. I was there with Brian the next big thing. We were both shocked at how jam packed the grand ballroom was. Even though the product was very stale we agreed that they must be doing something right if the attendance and PPV are high

I think smackdown has been the best show this entire year. The christian orton feud, the start of the ryder revolution, dominance of cody rhodes and emergence of mark henry tops all.

I disagree. I personally liked Elimination Chamber and Extreme Rules more than BOTH the 9th Anniversary Show and Best in the World (DVD perspective). And I liked Money in the Bank more than any ROH show this year. ROH has better wrestling but to immediately say they have had better shows I feel is a bit premature. Creating new guys is the big deal really. WWE hasn't truly gotten over new Main Eventers besides Punk but they did elevate several guys in much higher places than before

@TSlay1974 The several guys I was talking about were Punk, Bryan, Henry, and slight elevations to Truth and Ryder. Punk was in no way getting the same reactions as last year. He is treated like a big superstars and aside from the house shows gets pretty much the loudest pop every show hes on. Similar to what you said about PWG, its not fait to compare WWE PPV to ROH PPV straight up because WWE has done twice as many PPVs. Raw for me this year has never been awful except from HIAC - SS

The guy trying to argue that WWE had a better year than ROH is absolutely crazy. WWE is up for worst promotion of the year this year. Raw has been absolutely dreadful (probably the worst programming since Nitro near its death) this year with the exception of the 2-3 weeks of Cena/Punk before Punk came back a month early. Their PPVs have usually been below average, with a couple that were awful and 2 or 3 that were really good. Wrestlemania was also terrible this year.
