Let me just clarify something. In the manga series (or at least the Japanese one) we are told that Inuyasha is only 14. He's never had any experience with girls, besides (and only for a short time) Kikyo and only recently Kagome. As a half demon, isolated, he doesn't have any much social experience either. He's young, naive, and kinda left out, so let's cut him some slack for not understanding Sango's feelings.
