Try using shea butter (unrefined shea butter) for curl definition. Make sure your hair is wet when you put the shea butter in your hair. Apply shea butter to each section that you twist. Let it dry over night-you should have curl definition when you take the twist out.  P.S if you're in a hurry you could just blow dry the twist.

@whitney882 i love it, it's in my hair right now. It makes your hair suuupppper soft. It's used as a natural leave in(along with water mixed) and a daily moisturizer. Once its in your hair it feels like a down pillow. It works best in the summer or in warm temperatures. But definitely not in the colder months. You should try it. That's what kimmaytube used before her leave in during the summer. Good luck

glycerin is a humectant that draws moisture from the air. if you have a style where you'd like hold on a curl pattern, cut back on the glycerin. maybe just try it in your leave-in.

As for getting your dampened twist to dry: what I do is after spraying my hair and twisting at night, I take a thin cotton t-shirt and tie it on my head (as if it was a head wrap). The tee soaks up some of the moisture and my twists are usually dry in the morning. I do this on days when I re-wet/re-twist my hair, otherwise I'd wake up with hair that's still damp.

gel and a scarf is definitely one way to get your hair to lay down. I do that one on occasion. Usually though, i use a leave in conditioner that my mom makes for me and a scarf and my hair lays down. My hair is very curly so it looks like i have lots of little waves when its finally dry. looks cute but man it takes some effort to get all of that back into afro puffs, and its not even as long as yours!

Hey :) I know you live in Cali so that glycerin isn't a problem. Well guurrll.....I used my sprizter (that has veg glycerin) in Georgia....not good. I would leave the house with spiral curls and come back (only a couple of hrs later) with a huge fluffy puff lol. 2 much moisture in air. Since i've stopped i've been fine. I think i'm goin 2 eliminate it from my routine since I travel so much. Anyway, your eyeshadow looks nice and natural. Did you say hideous bow? That bow is very pretty.

I stopped using glycirin in my 4c hair because whenever I used it my twistouts would never have definition, but I may try the 90/10 mixture that you use around my edges only. Thanks for sharing.

@mstanish1 glycerin is hydrophilic so it attracts water, that is probably the reason why that your hair was still wet.....once i attempted a wash and go and sprayed my hair with the glycerin water and it took forever to dry. it's a great tool for keeping your hair moisterized and your skin as well....you have beautiful healthy looking hair...

We have similar hair texture and i too have been using a leave in condish inspired by kimmaytube...for definition i've been using a eco-custard recipe i picked up from inspired coils here on the YT - she basically mixed eco styler gel with 2 carrier oils, she mixed each oil individually really well & i use her recipe to twist with...I got GOOD hold but soft hair. Best definition to date, i do re-twist in large twists at nite..the defintion was awesome for me!
