Good post. I have supported Ron Paul myself. I voted for him in the primaries. Of course, he did not win, and he only took about 3% of the vote in my state. But his messages stay strong. Like you, I currently am supporting Chuck Baldwin.

I think ideally it's up to the people within a nation to free and defend themselves. When things really get bad as in the case of Nazi Germany and the invaded obviously can't handle it themselves against the aggressors then people in general regardless of borders (private or militarily) have strong cause to defend those people. I think everybody understands that the soldiers can't choose where to go or what to do, even if the quality of the recruits is terrible, even if they say that the army is worse than Saddam was, they mean the chaos created by the incompetence of the Bush administration (willful or not, that's another question)

i was beginning to lose faith in our generation and the future... but then i saw this video and i feel a little more optimistic seeing someone my age who is obviously informed and intelligent and cares about our future. i'm 16 and hate that i can't vote (don't get me started) but hopefully those who can will get ron paul nominated/elected.

Rebekah, you are awesome. Great video! Please tell everyone in your school to tell their parents to vote for Ron Paul. I never thought of this before, but if I were still in high school, I'd go to RonPaul2008, order 500 "slim jim" information cards, and slide them into all of the lockers in my school.

It's good to see the younger people chiming in. The nonsense about young people are somehow less capable of having opinions, or moral positions is just ludricious. Then it is a strange bias in America.
Solid views, and I overall agree with them. Too bad you can't vote, but you can influence opinion. One day perhaps we can see the voting age lowered, less jaded set in their way voters might help encourge some useful change in our country.

I respect you for supporting those fighting in iraq. i have a few friends who are/were/are going to be - in iraq. they are not bad people. I very much despise those that plan attacks and deploy troops - mainly the commander in chief. it breaks my heart that so many good people are going into iraq and becoming jaded because we want to spead our ideals to people that dont want to change.

Ron Paul terrifies me- how will abolishing anti-racism programs magically end racism? His environmental policy appears to be nonexistent. Excellent. I'm a Paul supporter and I hold the same opinion as you on this. I think we have good intentions in Iraq. And I don't see anything immoral about it. We have a right to invade. It's just not smart. I wish there were more Paul supporters like us, who don't look at everything our government does as evil but simply as misguided.

I'm not talking about a legal right but a moral right. I said there was nothing immoral about it. There is nothing immoral invading a dictatorship and trying to free the people from that dictatorship, especially when you invaded in thinking they had WMD. We don't have a moral obligation to do it, but neither is it immoral to do so in my opinion. It's an admirable goal, if it could be done without such cost in lives in money, now and down the road, but it can't. So I oppose it.

I think ideally it's up to the people within a nation to free and defend themselves. When things really get bad as in the case of Nazi Germany and the invaded obviously can't handle it themselves against the aggressors then people in general regardless of borders (private or militarily) have strong cause to defend those people. Though a draft is never justified..

RP made a great point about the situation where abortion is done because of something like tubal preganancy. In that case as the child has no chance to live, using it to do some good with stem cell research isn't morally wrong, much like donating your body to science.

i'd like to take you out for a cheeseburger. ok, i don't think you need to defend yourself from losers. update: a few weeks ago, 2 sets of scientists announced they figured out how to change a normal skin cell into a stem cell, bypassing the need for embryonic stem cells. Ron Paul Rules!

I think everybody understands that the soldiers can't choose where to go or what to do, even if the quality of the recruits is terrible, even if they say that the army is worse than Saddam was, they mean the chaos created by the incompetence of the Bush administration (willful or not, that's another question)
And btw there are much more mercenaries than soldiers in Iraq.

Well the anonymity on the web is used to be less than tasteful sometimes, but it comes with being on the web. If all you get is one person to listen you have succeeded.
