  • I'll take a mustang, but still pretty cool.

  • ... great sound... really restored machine... many thanks for the video....

    warbirds-power.de

  • beautiful!

  • Похоже, это Як-9

  • Un Yak-3 aux couleurs du Normandie-Niemen, c'est magnifique !

  • This is not a Yak 3...

  • Это самолет ЯК-9У. На ЯК-3 лобовое стекло без перекладины.

  • allison or not yak is beatiful,

  • Absolutely no Yak3 is using the original klimov engine in the world !! there are two possibilities; you have a "magic yak3 3 amde in the 90's in orenburg factory with allison engine V1710, or a Garric yak 3 with the same engine ....

    Laurent (yak owner)

  • I would not say that. There a few yak 3 that are all original; probably not flying though.

  • There are two original yak3 in the world, one is in paris musée de l'air, it is an ex "normandie niemen", and the other one is in russia owned by yakovlev ; they both carry their klimov VK105 engines, so yes these are with original engines but they are and will never fly again .

Klimov engines were based on french hispano engines but we can't find any parts to maintain them in condition to fly !

  • There's actually another in southern California also.

  • the one in southern california is the one owned by yakovlev, it was loaned for the santa monica museum in the 90's just when they decided to rebuild some yak3 at orenburg facility ...

  • I agree with you 100%....Imagine if there were some Klimovs floating around?? I would love to hear a VK 107A or MP105P

  • Is the engine on that plane the rolls royace merlin. It sounds like the spitfire and the mustang.

  • Think it`s an Allison....

  • Yeah i think your right, it sure isn't an Allison

  • No. It`s likely is soviet engine "М-105ПФ2"

  • it is a merlin im sure of it, if it isnt then their is an uncany resembalence

  • Between Merlin and the M-105PF2 differences sufficiently small. I mean their characteristics.

  • You guys are all wrong. It is definitely not a Merlin or a Klimov. Remember most; if not all, Yak 3s are not original. They were all rebuilt in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The Klimov's are rare engines so almost all Yak 3s are powered by Allison engines, just like this one. It is possible that Yak 3s can have Klimov engines but this is definitely an Allison; you can tell by the sound. Listen to the Curtiss P-40, it has a similar sound, because it to has an Allison.

  • shes quick

  • Awsome aircraft

  • Yak3M-107A and Yak9U are identical, one difference only in a forward part of a lantern, on Yak9 There one horizontal and two vertical racks

  • although they've got slightly different fuselage, Yak-3 had a shorter wingspan and so on... They were different airplanes with different meanings. After all Yak-9u was havier than Yak-3!

  • It not Yak3, it Yak9U

  • It's my father's! Correct, D-FLAK and restored by the Meiers. Aircraft now in Bremgarten.

  • This is the departure from Siena (ITALY) after a long stay due to systems failure in 2007 summer.

    Bye

  • Is this beauty a conversion from a Yak 11 with an allison engine like the two owned by the Maier brothers in Freiburg?

  • I think this is one of the two owned in Freiburg.

    Reg. D-FLAK

  • Thank you. Yes, now i see! These birds a realy gorgeous!

  • hey fritztoons,

these yak´s are not conversions from yak-11, they have yak-3 frames.

  • Such a beautiful fighter, definitely the best dogfighter produced by Yakovlev, on par with the Lavochkins as the best fighters of WW2, and sadly all of them too underlooked.
