@KingBurgermon Considering that they were compose and developed in parallel, I don't think it's accurate to say either came first, regardless of studio recording date. As to whichever language suits best, well, I think the essence of the song comes across very well in english too. Many props to Shigihara for doing such an admirable job on both versions.
