  • Do you know where I can buy an outer race separately? Another question; are the ball bearings all equal sizes? Somehow my boot tore and there was play in the race, causing the bearings to flare parts of the outer race; which was the only thing damage. LSD axles are nearly impossible to find so I was hoping to just replace the race/boot and repack the bearings... so your answers would really help. Thanks.

  • @mirbez The bearings should be equal in size. If the boot has been torn for a while, and it has been run dry, the easiest thing to do is to buy a new axle assembly from Toyota or Rockauto.com. You can also get ATS race kits. I can't remember if they come with the bearings. Try calling the Toyota parts department for just the outer race. If not, then your best bet would be a new or used axle.

  • @SW20FL Thanks for the reply. Yeah, it seemed the boot just shifted or the C ring came loose cause it was still packed with grease, but the bearings flared 3 slots of the outer race slightly. If anyone knows whether Camry or any other CV/hybrid axles work replying to this video would really help centralize information on the subject. I literally spent the entire day searching for a solution and this video appeared in nearly every result. Thanks again for the URL and video of the passenger side.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! i was fighting with my CV of an 88 aw11 sc, trying to get it all back to gether, your video helped so much, thanks again! and just like that guy said, it took about 30 seconds after i watched the video

  • I tried all night long trying to put my CV back together only for it to be "frozen" everytime. After watching this video it was back together first time around. Thank you 1000 times SW20FL

  • You rock! Thanks so much for this! I have been busting knuckles for the last 3 hours trying to get mine together!

  • Great video! Of all the garbage about CV joints on youtube, this one I found to be really useful and helped me out of a place where I didn't know what to do next; I was stuck. All the other videos dealt with just obvious shit.

  • Good video, I remember having that problem and eventually figuring it out over 5 years ago. Do you know what size torx bit is needed to dissassemble the cv joint?

  • I had the same reoccuring problem that seems to be associated with everyone else that watches this video (and which probably prompt you to make it) but I spent like 6 hours trying to figure it all out, always ending up with the same results, a frozen cv joint. Then I watched this video and noticed you had to leave the inner part down first and it seriously took 30 seconds after that, THANK YOU!

  • I am glad to hear this video is still helping you guys out after over 2 years!

  • Hey bud Couldnt of done this wit out your vid!!Thanks to your post i done this in less then 2 mins!!!

    Top man!!! :D:D:D:D

  • maaan i canttt do thisss i have this problem righhhtt now i need to assemble thiss plzz helpp!

  • thanks for doing this, always been very confused on how this was done, i paid someone last time i seperated the joints by accident

  • wow i have a problem with my beemer's cv joint. its hard to move but do u think if i take it apart and clean it then it would work or it depends if its damaged? bc it pops when it was on, i already replaced my bearing but i found that problem with the joint.

  • These are the ATS racing CV joints, correct? I need to put those in as well.. thanks for the video!

  • They're not ATS racing joints. They are factory joints. I was just rebuilding my axles and changing the torn boots however the assembly of the stock and ATS joints is exactly the same.

    David

  • thanks!

  • good video i spent 2 hours trying before i saw this, took 2 mins after i wached your video thanks
