@BobThePatriot St. John's University in Minnesota. It's about 20 minutes from St. Cloud, if that helps at all. I would definately recommend the college to anyone
The "Evil" men that we are speaking of are not all street walking scum. They are also politicians, mothers and fathers, people of all different orientations that no one can classify but themselves. Everyone wants the world to be as their own, but no one can make it as so except for the codes of behavior that humans have to follow in order to make this world what it needs to be. God bless that saints, and good save the corruption.
As I read down the comments I find this more and more interesting. It isn't the law not doing their job. It is based on the purity of the human heart. The law is such a subject to be sarcastic about. We have to abide by these laws that other men of different thoughts have wrote for us and not all of the law possesses the same needs of humanity. And if they did, then that would give you something to argue about. Because if nobody stole, raped, or murdered, then this world wouldn't be as it is.
Bravo! Very well said with good evidence from the Bible as well as real world news. I am catholic and have watched Boondock Saints 1 and 2. Awesome movies with a powerful message about corruption and the law not being enough to protect society from evil. Some devote fundamentalists may take offense saying that "killing is a sin no matter what" but if someone was in dire need would they go and help? some may go to church but right after they go back being spiteful lying sinners unknowingly
good job love it and for those who question the movies message its simple. Fear the Lord . for only the laws of god rule this earth not laws of man. We have gotten to lite on those who choose to commit crimes. it is not to hold their hand but to put the fear of the Lord in them. The movie is telling us wake up hold yourself responseible for your actions for if you dont on the day we stand in judgement we reap what we sew. and yes we will all stand in judgement..
the monolouge is almost an epic fail not gonna no offense. you need to take beats and change the mood of the peice. also if you are trying to replicate the scene you need to work on your irish accent or just not do it at all. dury my theatre monolouge i didnt even do the accent. you also are just giving the audience a shorter vercion of the movie. just summarize. you also bring up good points and do a very good job of explaining your points. you need to work on ur memorizing and delivery of this
This speach was amazing. Im conflicted to what believe. I feel the Saints are necessary but dunno if i could kill à man. Even if that man is à Mafia Guy. I really like how you went about this presentation. Love the Outfit to Brother.
This is an awesome topic for a speech, especially at a Catholic/Christian college..As a movie I love the Saints and in real life I'm starting to believe they are necessary. I'm from Philly and our system here is bullshit to say the least. Our conviction rate is a joke and so many scumbags slip through the cracks. If you saw the movie Law Abiding Citizen, I think they purposely chose to shoot the movie here because our system stinks. If the Saints were real I wouldn't be mad about it....Nice job!
@gerbilftw Yeah just like in the second one when Murphy want's do die his hair because it's what they do in the movies to be covert. I believe he even references 'The Fugitive' in that scene.
You speak too quickly, try to take pauses and put Agression into your voice, your too calm, you also started to quiet down, but with the accent, that was well done, just work on your expression's, tone of voice, and such.
Have you seen the British film "outlaw", it's more realistic . It portrays revenge in a more serious light. Perhaps you could compare and contrast the two films. Both films are excellent.
dave kirscht says: "I'd have to say what they are doing in our society today would be portrayed as evil and wrong but I believe personally what they are doing is good"
in there case i think its right for what there doing. there not killing innocent people there killing the bad guys that corrupted through the mob. in my opinion they wanna protect the people in south boston
so if the law system of a land cannot protect the people within it, and the criminals remain on the streets, it is up to the people to create their own protection from evil doers.
i agree with the statement that we should let God do the final judging whether or not someone should live or die, but the saints are providing that self defense for people who cannot defend themselves. we all know self defense is legitimate, but what about those people who cannot save themselves? they should not be subject to the brutality of others because they are unable.
I am a huge fan of the movie and what they do is rather heroic in a sense but also I think they maybe on the same level of some of the people they kill. That when they end up killing the person they somewhat come down to that persons level. Overall awesome movie though.
well truthfully in my opinion i think that in order to stop death and negitivity, u dont keep killin that will never end the cycle , death will keep coming and the hate will only grow .. and then years down the line theyl look back and there in a harder situation then before .. but every one has there own oppinion .. and i cant spell ha srry bt u get the point
Jack says: undecided. I agree with the justification of killing evil ppl. But if everything was governed by marshal law problems would occur in deciding who should live and die.
t-thomps says: i think they r good because it even says in the bible an eye for and eye but i guess they need to know they r guilty for sure i have never seen the movie but i would say they r doing good and helping society
I agree that the saints are good. If you murder someone you should face the punishments. But this is still very unrealistic being as so nobody can just look at someone and tell if they are guilty or not, and even if every murder gets the death penalty, there are the 1 in 100 cases that are wrong. But I agree with you though, the saints get the job done though, and harsh punishments will prevent others from commiting the crime.
Tim says: "I dont agree with what they do. Vigilante justice cannot work. What happens when others are inspired and begin to kill people. The saints have drawn a definite line on who deserves death but other peoples lines might not be so defined."
scott you look like a bad ass. the boondock saints belong in every major city because the justice system today is a joke and has many cracks for criminals to fall through and continue making society worse for honest hardworking civilians
Good job man, i agree that we pay too much to "accommodate" the people guilty of heinous crimes. I'm not saying masacre anyone that steals a candy bar, but things definitely need to be different than they are now. I also think that some people, however take this movie a little more seriously than I think even the writer intended. It's meant to say that things are wrong, not taken seriously enough and citizens are paying for it. He himself is also just using this as a tool to tell us all this.
i like the speech scottie, very good costume. As for the question posed i think that they (saints) are something that we all need, someone who will do what we want to but are restrained against and can't do. I dont think what they are doing is wrong, but at the same time the law is sometimes there for a reason, and if people disreguard it, it can lead to catastrophe.
Way to go Scott! After the opening speech the tempo fell off a little bit but you had a great recovery with the three points and the biblical quotes. I disagree with kyle's post because I feel all the guys in the room with the assassin deserved to die. They obviously knew what he (the assassin) was all about and the fact they hang out in a room that can only be opened from the inside is shady. However, in reality the concept of vigilianty justice is rather scary (think old west) and justice
if they had some criteria for who is chosen and bad. they dont cuz they listen to rocko when he wants to kill that assassin. how do you know that dont kill innocent. when they kill the fag man they dont know who is all in the room, it could be his family or someone else. overall yes it is right if there is a certain criteria other than if someone is "evil". terrible speech. just terrible.
@sjuwrestler say that is evil, do you stay good and let evil win, or do you become evil yourself to destroy evil.
