Spent two hours scooting around Queenstown in New Zealand a month or so back, including effortless trips up and down some nice steep roads. An awesome time, instantly wanted one. (thumbs up to Segway on Q, by the way)
The Segway by the lean of the drivers are having a bad time with this hill. There are three streets in Binghamton, NY that are by rough estimation a 25 degree grade. They have been in use since the 1940's. If your brakes aren't in good condition it's a suicide run. These streets can be seen going West on Route 17, just after Kamikaze curve to your right or East just before Kamikaze curve to your left. Nose's would have to be touching the ground to make these bad boys. All lined with houses
Actually, the Segways handled the hill just fine. The lean of the riders is due to the angle of the street. The rider is actually standing perfectly upright. Remember, Fargo Street has a 32 percent grade. It's a very steep street!
@mazdarado Do you also assume that drivers contribute to obesity? The Segway is a form or transportation and recreation. Please educate yourself before making such ridiculous assumptions.
can you go down it?

For every Segway video, there's a nasty comment. I think they call it, "sour grapes."

How much torque do segways have? Do they have gears?
TimpBizkit 3 years ago
@TimpBizkit No gears. They travel up to 12.5 mph.

am amazed you guys did go DOWN that thing, must be scary! btw does the segway recharge when going down?
erio6 3 years ago
Yup, I can verify scientifically that it is indeed scary:-)
Have a look at my Segway Fargo video (vid #3 of my journey) and see if my Seg was recharged going down Fargo Street...

@erio6 Going down a regular hill is very easy. I could never go downhill on skates or a bike. The Segway is super easy to control if ridden properly.
