He/She was carrying a letter to someone but was assailed while resting. The letter was taken and the young owl was thrown into your garage... trapped!
Have you checked the nearby area for any ominous signs of a struggle?
Something dropped or hidden in the scuffle maybe? You never know.
All aside, don't give up hope on your dream of receiving your own letter of invitation to attend Hogwarts. It'll come... one day. ;)

What a darling little poofy baby owl! I want one!!!! XD We had a visitor too...a pit bull showed up at our door last night...Steven wouldn't let me let him into the house but I wanted to keep him!! :-D
