comming from a Beatles to Van Halen backgound via Albert Lee and Lenny Breau, I like this. Some people say this is not passive music, that you have to think about...I respect that point of view, however, FOR ME I find this completly relaxing. I find music is no different than emotions. At 6:00 in the morning this may be perfect, by ten I might want to hear Richy Kotzen. Maybe by 7:00pm I might be in the mood for Kelly Clarkson. Right now I'm digging this.
this is not ,at libitum, this guys are listening to each other and responding depending on the sacale, the mood and the vocabulary of the gesture, and part of this ... lets call it estetica, is the use of disonance, to undestand this, it is need a background on concrete music, stochausen, john cage and other composers of the 20th century.
To love this music you must not listen passively. Give it the amount of attention you would give a great movie. It is not for driving or ambiance. Sit and close your eyes and listen. Let it fill your mind. It is not like a song with a simple narrative. It will be going many places and sometimes will be in many places at once. A singer would only sing with one voice and fill one role. These two make an entire soundscape. They play main character, supporting actors, and the scenery all at once.
Wow. I was in a really bad mood and listening to this experimental stuff really cheered me up. I love the way Larry follows Nels lead on some parts, then puts a spin on it.
Who cares?

Sí, una improvisación libre y un disparate. El jazz es otra cosa, por suerte

I've just noticed that this video has a tenth of the views of the original. Haha. Guess this kind of music is only for a minority. I love it.

infinitely fascinating... infinitely lyrical players. Nels Cline ages like wine. some savory flavors.

I was there and the Nels interview along with his playing with Larry made the event one that I'll never forget.
