The movie trailer looked pretty good but when my family and I went to see this movie it was such a huge disappointment. The characters were nothing like their animated counterparts. In the animated version the characters were so well developed and the show was well balanced with emotional content, good voice actors, and an awesome story line. I was pretty upset that they didn't even get the names of the main characters correct. If they ever make another one I hope that it is better directed.

The show dealt with racism, sexism, coming of age, responsibility, hate and tough choices, lying, coping with loss of friends and family, forgiveness and romance. The movie, did not. They didn't even bother to develop the characters. It was a piece of shit to the core. THATS ALL THERE IS.
As a Chinese, I think it's so inventive and cool way to show the world about Shaolin Kungfu and Tai-Chi. I'm so impressed by the little Western kungfu master Aang~~

Also, why make Sokka at all without including all his sarcasm AND logical leadership? In the series it took time for us to accept Sokka as a leader and that didn't even happen in the first season, but it left appreciation for his characterization and made his growth coming full-circle make him a truly memorable character. In this movie, it just narrated what Sokka did or implimented him as a leader without letting the audience grow towards his skepticism and quirkyness first.

As a fan is it too much to ask for actual storyline and decent acting? Not asking for much.

It was more of a collage of different moments from the series put in 3-D then anything else, without much rhyme or reason being displayed through showing and not telling.

The show dealt with racism, sexism, coming of age, responsibility, hate and tough choices, lying, coping with loss of friends and family, forgiveness and romance. The movie, did not. They didn't even bother to develop the characters. It was a piece of shit to the core. THATS ALL THERE IS.

I wonder if others pronounce Aang as "eng" (IPA: ɛːŋ) or as "ing" (IPA: ɪŋ). The movie version seems to get his name pronounced correctly (IPA: aːŋ).
"Wang" is supposed to be pronounced as (IPA: waːŋ), not (IPA: wɛːŋ) or (IPA: wɪŋ).

Also, why make Sokka at all without including all his sarcasm AND logical leadership? In the series it took time for us to accept Sokka as a leader and that didn't even happen in the first season, but it left appreciation for his characterization and made his growth coming full-circle make him a truly memorable character. In this movie, it just narrated what Sokka did or implimented him as a leader without letting the audience grow towards his skepticism and quirkyness first.

Not only did important relationships get cut-down to simple narrations and jump-cuts like Sokka and the Princess, we could never get one well acted moment from any of them that conveyed more emotion then your common Twilight popcorn flick. As a fan is it too much to ask for actual storyline and decent acting? Not asking for much.

@650sFinnest The reason why people hated this movie, fan or otherwise was because beyond the fact that it didn't do justice to the animated series it originated from, it was BARELY a good movie, relying on pretty graphics for audience members to leave with one decent thing from it. It was more of a collage of different moments from the series put in 3-D then anything else, without much rhyme or reason being displayed through showing and not telling.

The only reason why this movie obtained the payday was because of all the fans and advertisements already in place. Remember how The Dark Knight was created and how it didn't SUCK when retconing the Joker? Remakes aren't only excuses to get paid by that alone.
