  • Epic!!!

  • where can you get the sheet music for this i would like to learn this song the way he is playing it, it sounds great. Don

  • @dkmwoods To my knowledge, there is no sheet music for this. Especially the way Buddy plays it.

  • always ben interested in pedal steel since gerry garcia and workingmans dead album, then neil young, and J Taylor, then marshall tucker. Now that Im older Im really sorry I missed all these people growing up....I play guitar as well as drums and always want to learn

  • @BerkLeeDrm Get a steel now!! It takes a lifetime to learn the instrument, and what can be done on it is endless. It'll keep you on your toes and forever wanting to improve your playing! Feeling is such a huge part, besides the technicalities,etc.. The tone B. Emmons gets ,and the slides w/ the volume pedal are simply , amazing! That ain't easy!

  • Really hate to ask this but what brand steel is he using in this video? Buddy makes it the best.

This is kind of like the Ellvis story , about Roy Orbison, Elvis told his producer "if you ever put me[Elvis] on the same stage as Roy, ""you're fired"".

    Simply the best, my friend.

    regards,

  • @LLuE88 That is an EMCI steel. The name plate was removed.

  • @LLuE88 Those EMCI guitars are TONE MONSTERS, they are some of the best sounding all pull guitars ever made in my opinion.........but alas "NOTHING, AND I MEAN NOTHING HAS THE TONE OF A PUSH/PULL!!!!!!

  • How good will he be when he gets warmed-up and takes the jacket off??!!?? LOL!!

    Outstanding, as always!!

  • The best.

  • Well shoot, not matter how hard I try, voting often doesn't work, LOL, The best on this instrument. back in the days he was with Texas Troubadours [ Earnest Tubb] and Cherokee Cowboys [Ray Price] he was so gracious to allow me to watch him [on stage or next to it] play and maybe ask a question now and then in between the songs or intermissions.

    My friend / his friend,

    regards

  • Sometimes the Big E makes me wonder why psgs even come with the C pedal... love this version. It's all tabbed out in Expedition E9 if any of you all want to learn it, it's actually very accessible - but playing it with as much soul as Buddy is another matter... thanks for posting this beautiful clip.

  • This is as sweet as it gets.

  • Is there anybody that can teach me how to play one of those?!!!

  • @Jregga09 What part of the USA are you located?

  • i thought that looked like a young brent mason on guitar. very nice. thanks for posting.

  • Man I love Buddy's version - 3/4 shuffle

  • My, my that's pretty! TR

  • Well Bill, I told tou I would post a great big thank you for these awesome videos you provide for us, after I viewed the entire video, so here it is "Thanks Bill", now its off to see if I can figure out how Buddy uses the left going left knee lever so delightfully expressive.

    Bill Bailey

  • Whatever Buddy plays always sounds priceless , its the first time I have seen him play this one .

  • Sorry, Bill - I saw Brent, then posted too quickly - sure enough, there was his name at the end!

These videos you post are such a blessing; thank you very much!!!!

  • Surely the best volume-pedal technique in the history of the World!!!

Isn't that Brent Mason on Buddy's right? A pretty scary band, I'd say!!!!

  • Yep, watch for the credits after the video. All the players are listed.

    Bill

  • I allways consider Buddy Emmons one of the very good ones, and this is the first time I have heard this beautiful piece,,thanks for posting...

  • the "Man Hatter"

  • Sweet..

  • Thanks Bill, I appreciate you posting stuff like this for us to be reminded of what smooth is all about.

    Please continue. Thanks again

    Jeff

  • Just how great can one player be ???

This has to be one of the most beautiful of all the "steel songs" I have ever heard and I have been listening for 58 years.

This is what it is supposed to sound like.

  • Wow! And just when you think you are getting smooth you see this and realize just how far you still have to go!

    Thanks for the post Bill!
