  • ive smashed my hand in a door which hurt like hell but never my whole arm with the weight of a miata on it im bettin that was a wonderful feeling but atleast your still alive

  • That sucked, looks like you could have avoided it too.

  • wow man you are one lucky guy glad your still here

  • LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!

  • leave it to the guy with the altezzas.

  • Hi Mark,

after seeing this video, alot of us (Mx-5 Cup in sweden) is ordering arm restraints (even if it's not mandatory). Thought you might want to know all good thing that come out of this. Hope you recover well, and good luck next race!

  • that roll cage saved your life mate !!!!!!

  • fuck :( glad you are ok mate

  • And what is the wisdom of not using the lightweight factory hardtop? Stupid, stupid, stupid. You are one lucky SOB.

  • @keborylam

The factory hard top will not fit over the full roll cage and so cannot be used.

  • @zed180 I'm not sure about your roll cage requirements but in the US we race specmiatas with the hardtop and a roll cage. I had to lower my seat but it beats having my arms flainiling every which way as your video shows. You were lucky not to lose your arm. At least use arm restrains.

  • @keborylam

The Safety Devices roll cage is higher so a hardtop cannot be fitted, it gives extra clearance above the drivers head so you can use the standard seat mountings, my helmet did not make contact with the roll cage and was not damaged. Unfortunately it's not until you have or see an accident like this that you do things to make it safer, arm restraints are compulsory for next season so it should protect drivers arms in the future especially when their unconscious.

  • @zed180 In my comment I meant to say" flailing" . Flainiling is what happens when your head hits the roll cage one too many times.

  • @zed180 I hope you won't have to test the arm restraints' usefulness next season. Good luck.

  • @keborylam the hardtop does jack shit in a rollover like that, its most likely going to cause more damage than good

  • @keborylam the hardtop does nothing in a rollover. Have you ever seen a miata's hardtop. And a lightweight one at that? They peel off like tissue paper in rollovers. They are good for aerodynamics and add some rigidity, but they do absolutly nothing for a roll over.

  • @JD0x0

I've raced Spec Miata in a quite a few races with a hardtop. Obviously, your comment is just your opinion not a statement of fact. Watch some specmiata videos and notice if the hardtop is anything like a "tissue paper in a crash". They stay on, cracked and with popped out window but containing driver's arms. Watch the driver's arm rolling under the roll bar in the final seconds of the video. I'll take my chance with the hardtop. You can drive topless...that is if you even race

  • @keborylam Spec miata rolled at 110mph. Top tore off like tissue paper on the first roll. Rolled 3 more times. Luckily the driver was fine.

  • @JD0x0 Your argument is like that of people who don't wear seatbelts because they say they'd rather be thrown out of car and not crashed in it - they've heard a story like that once and by golly, it makes sense to them. Out of several dozens of videos I watched not once was the hardtop detached. Good enough odds for me to race with a hardtop and suggest that others do the same. Now go find somebody else to pester. Please.

  • Holy crap.. I got goosebumbs watching the car rock back and forth on your right arm :(

  • Oh my god, that's not the first time I see an MX5 flip that badly in video... That scares the hell out of me, as I tend to take it they're pretty safe cars to drive!

  • That is scary.... Glad the driver recovered from it.

  • put your hands up, put your hands up, put your hands up...

  • I think the guy in car 108 owes you a pint or two lol

  • z180 Mate that is the craziest crash I've seen in a while, Nothing you could of done there mate.. Glad your Alright though!!!!

  • glad ur okay...did u purposely put ur arm out wen u rolled it or was that from being thrown around if somehow u wud have kept ur arm inside the cage u wud prob not even break ur arm

  • @xxnissansilviaxx - I was unconcious so could not control my arm and your right, if I could of kept my arm in the car it would not have been broken. Thanks

  • @zed180 did u break it at 0:45 secodns? certainly looks like that, be careful next time all the best. how did the car fair?

  • What a bad crash. I`m glad you are ok! Man.....that was bad!!!

  • lucky guy man..av no bar or cage on mine..think i'll b sortin somethin soon tho after seein tha....am still shakin..hope ur ok now....................

  • No, the car is not repairable and has been scraped

  • is the car ok?

  • WHERE THE FUCK IS HIS ARM RESTRAINS!!!!! FUCKING CAGE IS ON HIS HAND!!!!!

  • Ouchhhhhhhh i think he broke his arm..... :/...my arm hurts now

  • No arm straps?!?!?!?!?! Jebus.

  • wow Lucky guy.. that looked brutal. god bless roll cages.

  • glad to hear you're ok Mark! It takes balls to race cars at any level so fair play to you. I'll be supporting you when i see you on motors tv in the future!!

  • my god that was some crash sent a chill down my spine. i don't have roll cage in mine not even a roll bar and after seeing this i wont go on a track again with out one. lucky to still have a arm at all, shocking stuff

  • We have been obliged to use arm restraints since we started the series and advised it there a few times. Unfortunately as often measurements are taken when damage has been done. Hope you be ok soon!

  • Jesus Christ.

You were unconscious yes? Hope you cant remember it!

  • That was you? Jesus, that's one of the worst beatings I've ever seen a driver take.

  • Lucky man. That was intense! I hope you're back out there soon!

  • Hope to see you out there again, Wishing you a quick recovery. Keep racing mate , take care

  • FUCK!!!..... Glad you had a cage fitted mate :(

  • At the next race meeting most cars had either arm restraints or nets fitted and it will be mandatory to have arm restraints fitted for next season.

  • @zed180 keep your arms in the cockpit next time bud. Bit unlucky there though to say the least

  • @levanter1M I'd love to seee you try to keep your hands in at those G forces there bud.

  • Those cars don't have window nets?

  • So glad you are okay (reletively speaking). Horrible crash. Thank goodness for roll cages!!

  • sends a shiver down me everytime i see it . wishing you a very speedy recovery . Dangerous brian . car 76

  • Wish you a speedy recovery

  • Get well soon , that was a big one alright

  • Incredible, I'm happy if you are ok, because the crash was scary.
