These lines always make me sad. My Girlfriend lives in Italy and I live in the U.S. unfortunately we won't be able to live together for a few years still we visit in summer
"By the time we find each other, we can live, we can die, and nothing stops the river as it flows by"
The lines, to me, are saying that by the time we are finally together so much of our lives have happened that we've missed out on, but we just have to deal with it because "Nothing stops the river (of time) as it flows by"
Mid seventies I first heard Snow Goose... it just stunned me with all the wonderful melodic textures it sent out... from what I heard the band recorded the whole damn album in a couple of days... wow, that's musicianship... and perhaps a knock on the head for all of us who spend hours tweaking this track and that because it's not "perfect".. wonderful band, wonderful music, and I was just so lucky to be part of that wonderful 70's era..:))
such an amazing song... it's a shame no one has uploaded the "Never Let Go" live version, it's the most amazing version I've ever heard of this song, full of feeling.
i'm 51 yrs old, and camel has been my bible for most of my life, they ARE a timeless band of inexhausible possibilities, i truly miss pete pardens, what a loss! someone posted that andrew is ill!, plz let me know whats up, haven't heard a thing!
@drewbeedo11: I have been trying to follow up on Andy's cancer and could find nothing, even after trying to get it straight out of the camel's mouth. The band's site, I believe, has the latest public word, which is that Andy has gotten better and is in remission. I remember hearing or reading somewhere that there might be a mini-tour if he is able to get well enough. Let's hope against hope that this happens.
He had a blood disorder since 1992, and it led to a problem in his bones.
In 2007 he underwent a bone marrow transplant though, and he's back home recovering. It was one of the main reasons that Camel had stopped touring in the first place, but now that he is getting better, a small mini-tour is being considered. :)
@drewbeedo11 Andrew has been ill with a lung condition of some sort for over two years and fighting it. Camel Productions have a web blog about it. Seems he has recovered but nothing is for sure these days. Talking about a new album but I cant see it now.
@drewbeedo11 Hi there! I'm 50 now and also love Camel a lot! Check on Camel website. U'll find everything about Latimer's ill condition and recovery. Thank goodness he's ok now and back to work. A word of appreciation to Susan Hover who has made a great job during Andy's convelescence.
@drewbeedo11 Andrew had bone marrow transplant for a platelet problem, but apparently he's responded quite well. they may do some concerts this year. I met Peter once in LA and he was a nice and very funny guy.
thanks guys fir uploading these songs... all my respects to the former members of the band but specially to andy latimer, one of the best composers i've discovered in rock music... if you can call rock to the unique world of Camel...
get well Andy! thanks for sharing your art with the world...
I bought this album when it was first released , then a couple of years ago I bought the C.D. this has a bonus demo version of this song on it with just piano with a lovely re verb
Gotta wonder why Camel aint up there with Floyd. Camel have for decades now produced the most amazing fantastic and beautiful symphonic prog ever made.
Such a lovely song. Thanks.
