I have a 2008 model just like this but in LT trim and it is nice. 40,000 miles right now on it. I know it should have more gears and a better interior, but I love it.
@Intechdude300 Actually man the reason they call them Vortecs is because the heads have a special design and that's the vortec design. Kinda like the Hemi has special heads that are hemispherical.
More comparable to Chrysler. But you feel a huge difference even inside say a 2006-2010 Explorer. Not saying Explorers is spectacular but no way compares to the Extra low rent finish inside these trailblazers.
@Intechdude300 We sat in a 2008 Ford Taurus X....and you should have seen the loose trim, unfinished edges and panel gaps. Must have been a Friday "last shift" car. XD
That plastics piece under the power seat controlers on the side of the seats tends to break apart, the flimsy consoles also tend to break. But Havent seen cracked dash in these YET.
interesting engine for a GM car. I wonder if these straight sixes last as long as the famous ones from the past, like the 4.0 AMC, or the Ford 4.9L, or even the Dodge slant six.
I can say that the the 1st few years had some issues like head gasket, engine noise/knock Mostly the 2002-2003 years. By 2004-2005 the engine smoothed out a bit more. By 2006 is where I feel they refined it just right & haven't seen issues with those. So I think u can compare the 2006 versions durability to those other str 6's u mentioned.
@Adam44516 I can say they should last just as long as to the years some 02s had a cylinder sleeve issue which was fixed by 03 on up to 05 then in 06 the engine received a newer design with stronger parts and more power. I have an 02 Trailblazer with 221,000 miles on it and is still as smooth as ever and runs like a champ. So i can speak personally on the behalf of whether or not it is a reliable engine even for the 02s!
LOL I just made a couple of vids today of a 05 GMC Sierra 5.3 and man that's funny because the speedometer read I was doing 10 mph yet I was revving it to 6K

its a vortec not an inline

@loser6574
Well duh!!! Yes it is an Inline. All 6 Cylinder are lined up in a str8 line. Nothing wrong with what I said
Vortec is just what they called most of their engines in their truck line.
Just like Ford with the Triton V8 4.6L & 5.4L n the F-150, Expedition, & etc. Triton doesn't mean anything yet it's the name they use on their trucks

@Intechdude300 I wonder, because those engines last hundreds of thousands of miles.
