Catholics are not christian, ask the 68,000,000 Bible believing Christians they butchered in cold blood that they called Protestants, If you doubt that, take the history, "Smuckers Glorious Reformation" .
@TheBrideage I think I mentioned that...? Maybe, but yeah. A lot of people get the impression that during the Incquisition that it was mostly 'non-Christians' when a greater 90% or more of them were Christ-Believing people of the faith who simply thought differently than from the Roman-Catholic Church... I took some Homeschool learning and learned this especially well. Collegiate History also mentions this. Course... a lot of historians like to overlook it since it is such a dark history...
I have done disservice to humanity and God Bless, by arguing about doubtful questions that cause strife, for that I apologize and ask everyone to forgive me, I will pray about it from now on. I've heard it said, don't preach me a sermon, live me one. God richly bless You All.
@TheBrideage Your sin is not arguing, as discussion is an honorable path to resolution; but your arguments here have wholly consisted of abusive ad hominem straw man attacks, and it is that for which you ought seek forgiveness. Perhaps self reflection and effort toward understanding would serve better than prayer.
The atheist defense mechanism is unbelief. Then they make their own religion and teach that science made the universe, earth, and flowers. You think a wristwatch, with all the pieces moving and working together just happened, or was created by an intelligent mind.how much more the earth. The atheist show a Christian, how good it is to know Christ, just as the night expresses the Glory of the day. Law of contrast.
@TheBrideage For a person to say that something was created by a God has been done with just about everything that was not made by humans at one point or another. Including famin, disease, weather, landscapes, grass, rocks, animals, etc... Science has dispelled almost all of it in the last few hundred years. So just because it is not completely explained YET, it actually does humanity a disservice by giving it the "God created it" label.
Thats pretty interesting, as a so called atheist, you spend all your time, trying to convince yourself there is no God, to ease a conscience that says there is one!
So then, for those of you defending this story: What fish exists that is large enough to fit the story? Did God zap these fish out of existence? Did they disappear with all the water from the Noachian flood? Where is the fish?
that is one type of christian. I know lots of intellectual christians that aren't like her. The fun ones to listen too however like Ray Comfort are that way and provide us rational thinkers hours and hours of quality entertainment. I believe the word for them is evangelical christians.
Or if you ever have to discuss Jonah and the 'Great Fish' just tell them that you loved that story of the man in the whale...and his kitten....and his little wooden son...and the kid's cricket...or was that something else?
@SciBishop I love that story, especially the bit where jesus uses magic to make all the brooms come to life and sweep up the laboratory...wait...I think I'm a bit confused too...
@unamaxify I can see the three taps in the shower, so you can be baptised and born-again fresh every morning! Pope on a rope...man there's a few jokes there, funny stuff, thanks!
Talking to a christian is like talking to a fish. There is nothing there but glassy eyes. They open there mouth and down the rabbit hole we go. Delusion has griped it's claws to deep for reason to release them. They want to be Wonderland.
Yep, Richard Dawkins calls it the faith firewall, as soon as you start talking about evolution or anything non believer friendly, the stern faces arise, the arms cross, and the faith firewall is up, everything you say from then on, in one ear and out the other.
We are too one-sided...I've noticed throughout my life experiences the "truth" that everyone seeks tends to be somewhere in the center of all the theories...If you take all recorded evidence as far as writing...paintings...experimentation.We get all kinds of juicy information...But saying oh ya the bible is right and scientist are wrong...is an endless battle with no winner.Yet when you put everything together and look at the universe in a non linear human prospective...it makes much more sense
Creation is fully supported by science, history and human logic. There are no problems we are aware of. God is all loving and will end mans rule of the earth under the devil shortly.
@warriorprince1010 Right, and why did he create the devil in the first place? Don't say he was an angel and he was rebellious, your God made him that way and knew in advance exactly what would happen. And since everything happens to your God's will, then he is running the earth right now you STUPID FUCK.
@warriorprince1010 who are you to speak of gods interests? Unless perheaps you are him..in some sort of way... I choose to believe that it is impossible to comprehend what is higher then us...But I believe it is very real and all around us...The plan...The design if you will...The universe as a working organism...If a planet can be alive and full of life why can't the universe? There is plenty of evidence that suggest it is... If the universe is possible...Anything is possible..
@moopism People who do not accept the right of Gods people to live in peace will indee dbe killed. That is the right thing to do as I wnat to live in peace.
@57worldwide "And, persecution of alleged witches is somehow preserving peace? Condoning slave ownership? Wake up."....No idea what you are talking about. All forms of persecution are done by worldly people not God. Try again.
@moopism Actually, something I don't know exists wants me to choose to love it without any evidence it exists & if I don't, it will torture me for eternity in a place I don't know exists, all out of unconditional love.
The caller said he read the bible to find out what all these people are believing. Too bad it wouldn't help. "These people" are told what to believe in sermons and that is watered down, simplified, and sugar coated.
I think it's okay to have a belief system which gives meaning to your life. What about Buddhists? They don't believe in God and yet their practice of buddhism gives meaning and fulfillment to their lives. I agree some Christians are pathetic but I don't see the point in arguing with them in an attempt to destroy their faith or make them question their beliefs. What purpose does that serve other than to make you feel like you've won something?
@zoeyjusko Whether it's someone's personal reason or not, there is good reason to break people's faiths, particularly in the monotheistic religions. Polytheism (and whatever the hell Buddhism is classified as...) I have no issues with at all, but monotheism is an evil that plagues this planet. Just think of the things going on today. Gay rights, abortion rights, women's rights.... well,.. I guess it's mostly human rights that monotheism steps on the most... and education takes quite a hit too.
@skywize I know you're right. The religious mentality is a very scarey and dangerous thing. It does step on human rights. I guess I'm just reluctant to fight against it because I've been so saturated with Christianity my whole life. It's hard to let go of that fear. I feel like I'm just now waking up. It's not easy.
@skywize Please don't get down on Buddhism. It was through meditation, looking inside myself, where I finally started to realize that religion is bad. I have health problems and when I'm hurting, I still pray to Jesus. It makes me feel better. I feel like I'm done with Orthodox Christianity, but it's very hard to let go. It's all I've ever know. I'm working on it.
@zoeyjusko Either you misread the statement, or I wrote it wrong. I have nothing against Buddhism. I just don't know how to classify it without any gods, lol. I quite like Buddhism, though it's not for me. I have nothing against polytheism either. I was a Pagan for almost a decade. There is beauty and peace in it. I just don't believe in the gods. I understand about the meditation. As a Pagan, I would spend hours in the woods meditating by a little brook.
@zoeyjusko If you enjoy meditation, you should look for two albums called "Peaceful Solutions" I + II by Richard Allen and Kirby Shelstad. It's purely instrumental. Album II has gotten me through some hard times. They are truly beautiful. Amazon had the CDs used quite cheap.
If we remove the need to believe and base our lives on what we know, I feel this would be a good foundation to move forward in life. We should be open and 'Consider All The Possibility's' until such time as we 'Know'. Faith, Hope and beliefs are all things that we might want or need but they really are nothing until such time we Know them to be true.
@zephranna01 honestly? are u serious? u constantly ask question and make statements that are fucking stupid and without basing them on any truth what so ever...
and then u get upset cuz i answer ur questions and question ur lies?
The problem with Christianity is that for so long it's clergy has insisted on the Bible, in its entirety, being the word of God. The impractical teachings, many irrational and nonsensical beliefs and mainly, the blatant incongruity between nature and the bible doesn't inspire much confidence in the present state of this religion being divine. Staunch atheism, however, is the other extreme. The truly wise and successful never abandon their quest for knowledge and truth. I hope I never do.
@zan300 I agree, but I believe this can be accomplished without religion entirely. Simple fables can teach a child morals and life lessons. Why should we need a bible filled with horrifying acts by a truly malicious deity?
@zephranna01 explain what makes them a religion using the qualities that actually constitute religions and not your own made up version of what religions are or what you think they should be. if you can't do that, you're wrong. it doesn't matter if you think it's correct. continue with your ignorance if that's what you really want. anyway, i'm done talking to you unless you can justify why without using your made up criteria.
@zephranna01 I dont have a holy book that tells me what i can and can not do..
I can figure that out my self, and when ppl tell me what kind of a person i am based on the literature i value, and then they say that they can not be a good person without that literature i tend to judge them... with all rights to do so...
And that u think can tell im a soft guy due to the fact that i dont act like a ignorant mindfuck trolling on youtube i find very amusing :P
@thetrazor pardon for the interruption, but I'd like to make a comment. God puts no 'value' on men. We are all valuable to Him. And yes, you do have a holy book, but it is hidden somewhere that you dont want to get down on your knees and search for it. You are a good person, as can be everybody. There is no self-esteem crap in this. You also have no right to judge a man until you've judged yourself. =^.^= Right now, I can't judge you because I'm still iffy about myself, so who am I to say?*shrug
@lightbriareos nice 2 c a polite theist for once :P i know the most are butt the assholes tend to make allot of noise..
but still, i judge what i do and say multiple times every day, i judge everything i say and do, ether i get proud or disappointed, if i dont like what i say/do i try 2 make up for it, i do the same for ppl around me 2, i have all the right in the world to tell some1 they are being a hypocrite and a asshole if they behave that way. if i get sry i had a bad day.. well we all do
@zephranna01 because you think something is true does not make it true. maybe it does in your own personal reality. that's fine, you can think and believe whatever you want. but you have to recognise that your personal beliefs on the subject of what constitues a religion does not actually coincide with what makes something a religion. you're making up your own definition and then using that definition to mislabel things as religions. define it however you want, but it doesn't make it correct.
@zephranna01 that doesn't constitute a religion, sorry, but you don't understand the structure required within to make a religion. a person can say something is their religion but that in it of itself does not make what they claim to be their religion, an actual religion. there's a difference. people love sports, true. it is not true, however, that people loving sports makes sports a religion. understanding a simple concept like that shouldn't be beyond you. if it is, i'm sorry to hear that.
@zephranna01 by that reasoning you can call anything a religion. examples: people who like the color red the most are a religion. people who enjoy reading over watching television are a religion. people who don't like dogs are a religion.... do you get where this is going? rejecting a claim is not a religion. anything in the absense of dogma cannot be considered a religion. "just because it doesn't fit the conventional descriptions (of religion) doesn't mean you can't call it that." yes it does.
@zephranna01 No... I have never been in jail, have you? or why would u know so much more then me?
I dont c why i wouldn't survive jail... Remember that the phenomens in jail that you talk about pretty much only occur an american and under developed countries... And im not an american and i do not live in a under developed country...
My actions would never take me as far as into jail... cuz i am not and will never be a criminal...
What does ur holy book tell u about judging me btw? ;P
@zephranna01 Not saying that there is no atheist in jail... just saying that your argument demolish your itself pretty big time since 99.6% of prisoners in USA are theists and 99.8% of prisoners in the world are theists :)
@zephranna01 atheism is a rejection to claims of gods and that's it, nothing more, nothing less. you're attempt to put a spin on what it means to be an atheist is a dishonest play on words. you don't seem to understand what a religion actually is if you think it simply means "a large group of people believe the same thing". you're obviously intelligent but you're not very smart. if you need that line of reasoning explained to you, it would only reinforce the claim against you.
"All it does is eventually create an empty hole inside yourself, and you will embrace sin instead of faith in God to attempt to fill that hole."
1. What is "sin"?
2. What makes "sin" wrong?
3. What makes you assume that I "need to sin" in order to feel happy? Are you assuming that anyone who enjoys their life without believing in God has to be sinful by default?
If the promise of some kind of continued existence after death is what gives your life meaning, you are welcome to it. But I find such promises to be utterly tawdry, as they serve only to cheapen the value of this life (the only one we know for sure that we are going to get). Thankfully there is no evidence for an afterlife, much less any kind of Divine author who promises eternal salvation or damnation for finite deeds. So enjoy your life while it lasts.
And those are just the main two non-deity religions out there. Also, nothing in that definition states that a belief or nonbelief in deities is required for religion. Atheism can only be considered a religion when it fits the criteria of a religion. Which it hasn't. Let's be clear, if atheism WAS a religion, I'd have no problem with admitting it...but it's not...so lol. Also, wall street? Lol.
@zephranna01 Religion is a cultural system that creates powerful and long-lasting meaning, by establishing symbols that relate humanity to beliefs and values. Atheism does none of that. Credit to wiki for that little explanation as to religion. Deities have nothing to do with religion. And no, we don't worship. We don't get together anywhere and go, "Oooooooh and then no god saideth anything, because no god exists...amen...."
@zephranna01 Frankly, Zeph, if you want to believe because it makes some sort of sense to you, go for it. The only time I get bent is when religion is taught in schools (creation) or inflicted on everyone by ardent religists. Broadcasting snarky remarks about us all being surprised when we float away on Judgment Day is also asking for it! 8-D
@zephranna01 ...and you base this on? Oh yes, a compendium of bronze-age eastern legends and prophecies written by ignorant desert-dwellers with no understanding of history or science. Oh yes, and the fact that you personally like the idea. How could I be so foolish as to dismiss such hard-core evidence? I must fall on my knees and beg forgiveness next chance I get. 8-\
If you look hard at it, fundamental believers are essentially nihilists, because they don't see any sense or value in things for their own sake, they claim they wouldn't know what was right or wrong without their holy books and neither love nor life make any sense without god.
Whether the Bible is historically accurate is not necessarily proof that God does or does not exist. The Bible was not found in a rock split by lightening. It is the compilation of inspirational stories based on spiritual experiences that were passed down before they were actually written. I understand that many athiests are honorable people ; however, I don't feel I have to prove Methuselah lived to be 969 years old thousands of years ago to be inspired by my faith. It's not relevant.
@rokuteam There are wonderful things in that bible, but there are horrible things as well. Being inspired by a story, and believing it are two different things. I could be inspired by the will of Christ as he is put to the cross, but I could never imagine that a deity that slaughters people by the thousands could ever be good. There are better places to find inspiration, like polytheism, or the cosmos.
@skywize As far as polytheism or the cosmos, I am not certain of those examples, but I accept that God may communicate to others in many forms and it is not my place to judge you for that (Matthew 7:1-5).
@skywize I greatly appreciate that you see some inspiration in the Bible. It is much better to be inspired, than to insist on a literal interpretation and fail to be inspired. Many insist on a completely literal interpretation, but fail to be inspired. I encourage you to continue to find the passages that reach you.
@rokuteam I have not been inspired by the bible, but I can see how someone might. Though I see the good, it is meaningless to me when consumed by all the bad. I do like the idea of faith without religion. Deism, I think is beautiful. It is the idea of a god or creator with no story, no rules, or dogma. Basically, imagine your own god. "I denounce anyone who claims to be a leader of an ideology I hold personal." -RyuOni1989
@skywize As I mentioned earlier, the Bible is a collection of books not a single book in itself. The earlier books of the Old Testament were told to a very primative society. Just like small misbehaving children, they were motivated by fear rather reason. The books Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy are all about laying down the law - not particularly inspiring. They dealt with basic hygene, etc. I get much more out of the Gospels, Matthew Chapters 5 - 7 in particular, epistles & Proverbs.
@rokuteam This is rare, but I will concede that point. You are right. A book of 'short' stories should not be taken as a whole. There are a few books of story collections I have read that I've hated some and adored others. I am a scifi geek and love reading science fiction short stories.
@skywize Great analogy!. I like science fiction myself. I don't read much of it, but I watch it in television and movies. This is why I am not a big believer in trying to reconcile Biblical history with scientific discovery. There is no way that a primitive society could comprehend the science we know today (and still don't know) so why would one expect early Bible stories to be literally scientifically accurate? The message would have gotten lost in the detail.
@rokuteam I guess i think of the story of god and Christ the same way as that of Arthur Pendragon. I don't know if the man actually existed, there seems to be debate one way or another. I don't really care if he did or not. The stories of him are as conflicting and unbelievable of those in the bible. I still adore the basic story and find him fastening and awe inspiring. Yes, in some stories he was a crusader, but there is much to be learned from and inspired by.
@skywize You certainly have a right to believe or not believe as you choose. As for me, my faith and practicing the teachings in the Bible works well for me and I can offer testimony to that. If something works for me, I share it just like anything else. I really enjoyed the dialog though and I appreciate your willingness to listen to my point of view and try to understand it even though it may not agree with your own. That speaks well of you.
@rokuteam I see no reason to scoff at someone for their beliefs, but I do see good reason to add my two cents in when I consider them a danger. Also, I like hearing different takes on things like this. I am something of a student of the human psyche and love hearing why people think as they do. I have limits to my own and it is interesting to me to hear about others.
@skywize I greatly appreciate that you see some inspiration in the Bible. It is much better to be inspired, than to insist on a literal interpretation and fail to be inspired. Many insist it has to be taken as literal, but do not get the real message. I encourage you to continue to find the passages that reach you.
There is nothing wrong with achievements and self esteem in life, God does not condone that, infact He builds you up. Has anyone ever heard "The Joy of the Lord is my strength." But if all you have in life is achievements that wont benefit you after you die than what worth is that! For what profit has a man from all his labour in which he toils under the sun? One generation goes and another generation comes, but the earth remains forever.
A man was asked "If the world was to end tomorrow, what would you do?"
The man answered, "I would plant a tree."
What you do not seem to understand is that we atheists are able to garner meaning and fulfillment in our lives, even without some preternatural authority to give us that meaning. And I would add, if you believe that you require some divine tyrannical being to give your life validation, which only comes through your own self-abasement, I call that truly pathetic.
"But if all you have is achievements that wont (sic) benefit you after you die what worth is that!" Who cares if one's achievements don't benefit one after one is dead? The point is that they are of benefit and worth something while one is alive. You make it sound like the only reason to do good things is so that you can get rewarded for it later on or so you won't be punished. How about doing good things because they are simply the right thing to do?
Buddhists believe in the constgant concsciousness and life energy.
Materialists believe in everything that we can experience is exactly as it is, material that can be interacted with
Atheistic Agnostics are WILLING to believe in god, as soon as actual experiencable and factual scientific evidence is presented.
And Darwinists believe that the goal in life is to better oneself and the rest of the human race so that we can become something that works better within life.
@BigLundi Buddhism isnt truly atheism, Agnosism is only a belief when they fall over onto that side, Darwinism is a Theory, while beliefs are based on faith, Materialism is just... There. Atheism means No Belief, A - no, Theism- is the belief that at least one deity exists, If you believe in something call yourselves something more than just atheism, for Atheists do not believe in anything by their name.
@krutcheshobb Buddhists don't have a beleif in god's existence. Hence, atheists.
Agnosticism is by definition, a particular lack of beleifs in god, it is atheistic in nature.
Darwinism is primarily atheist, though I will admit many christians are beginning to admit evolution is a strong possibility. Materialism is the belief in what you can see, feel, and scientifically prove, which is, in essence ,the very foundation of atheistic ideas.
@BigLundi Already gave you the true definition of the word its latin, meaning No Belief A means no, theism is belief... So Believing in nothing. If you believe any of what you stated you are what you stated, not an atheist. If you have no belief whatsoever you are an atheist. That is the true definition, if people dont use words properly why not call the sky Fredrich? Atheism means no belief, Buddhism have an afterlife belief and a spiritual connection hence not atheism. Darwinism is science.
@krutcheshobb Allow me to go to the Webster's dictionary, possibly the most reliable definition giver. And if you claim to know better then Webster's...then lol.
Archaically it used to mean ungodliness, or wickedness.
Modern definitions state the following. Atheism - A disbelief in the existence of deity.
Nowhere on there does it say we don't believe in the afterlife. It says we disbelieve in the existence of deity. Bhuddhists don't believe in the existence of deity. Atheists.
@krutcheshobb To continue, I'm willing to concede Darwinism is a science, but it is still a belief. A belief, mind you, many atheists share. It's not a CORE Atheist belief, but many atheists DO believe in it. Also, you didn't talk about Materialism :P.
@BigLundi Materialism, Its a belief, but not atheism, because they have a belief... Lawl, True lots of atheists believe in darwinism, but many of my synagogue believe it too. It doesnt doubt the belief of god, just changes Moses' Depiction. The bible is only written for moral guidance anyways, God is like Golem from lord of the rings, if he exists he speaks in riddles. :P
@krutcheshobb Well yeah, but that's not what you were talking about xD. Atheists DO have beliefs, just not specifically in the existence of god. Other than that, there's LOADS of stuff we believe in, Materialism, Darwinism, blah blah blah, the list REALLY DOES go on. We have opinions on lots of stuff and lots more stuff too. Now you MIGHT be thinking about Nihilists, who view human nature as an illusion, and refuse to feel, because all emotion is an illusion, those people can be...pretty weird.
@BigLundi I understand what your definition of atheism is, but the word is just so annoying... Besides the concept of no afterlife or some form of creation is just... Too dark... Depressing, so depressing it couldnt exist lawl. I just like to troll sometimes, you sir are a worthy opponent.
@krutcheshobb All in good fun, and for the lulz. Not MY definition by the way, that's Merriam Webster's :P. Why be depressed by a word anyway? Just a disbelief in god isn't depressing unless you personaly allow it to be. I am an atheist, I've told my family, my friends, and I'm happy. Nothing wrong with it. Least you're not one of those, "IF YOU DONT BEIEVE IN GOD YOU'RE OK WITH BABY RAPE!" types of people.
@BigLundi That quote reminded me of Eugene Mirmins Anti Gay Phone company, lawl. I used to be an atheist then I decided to dust off my Yamacha and eat a latke. :P religion is a choice in my country, dont know what the rest of the americans are thinking.
@krutcheshobb People like to push atheism under the carpet. Those that believe feel atheism is some sort of threat to their beliefs, a walking insult to everything they believe, and as such, looks at it as an enemy. Look at Fox News, every time Atheists come on the show or come up in the news...well...insults are thrown...a lot. I recall a direct quote from a rabbi that came on, "Atheists are parasites." Said O Reilly of his interview with Dawkins, "I feel I won." ...like he was debating...xD
@BigLundi Eh, you guys aint parasites, you're just people who took one of the many choices given to you in life. I chose what I was raised on, which is to Believe in God, Christ and the Holy Spirit. You've chosen to disbelieve everything that North America and Britain were supposedly raised from.
God gave you choice, you've taken it. :) There is only one way to Heaven, Through Christ Jesus. I will grieve for the loss of my atheist friends and acquaintances as I leave this life in the end. Amen.
@lightbriareos No, the way into heaven is by Allah's good graces. Jesus isn't the prophet to follow, it is the almight Mohammed, peace be upon him. Him, Jesus, and Krishna all made a pact one day, called the godlihood of the Travelling Pants, and said that whoever has the craziest followers in the 21st century is the true religion. It just stands to reason.
@BigLundi Lol, You're funny, y'know that? And I know that it's useless to talk with you, but at least I'm willing to try and talk with you about it. ^.^ Mohammed was a well-meaning fellah, probably. It was when the Roman-Catholic Pope decided to end him that things got out of control.
I'm a Southern Baptist Christian in the U.S.A. and I speak out of peace, not bullshit :) Mind you, I dont mind the occassional tustle... :D All things in moderation... =^.^=
@lightbriareos Well, you also assert the ONLY way into heaven is through Jesus Christ. Because you literally are perfectly ok wit hthe concept that those who don't believe as you do are going to burn eternally, I have no reason to treat you seriously. And to say Mohammed was a well meaning fellah explains that you don't know anything about Islam.
@BigLundi Eh... it's your choice, I'll mourn with the others, but, as God has made it, He gave us all Choice. As for Mohammed, he's dead and gone. Why should I worry about him anymore? I read enough to know that Islam is a war-bound religion, but that with the few, I can at least peacefully debate it against them. I know Christian-gone-Islamists, and I found them to be really nice people. I'll mourn their passing to Hell, but it was their choice. Life in God's son, or death in Hell. Up to you.^^
@lightbriareos God you're weird. Why are you perfectly ok with a god that says "Anyone who doesn't believe in me will burn eternally, and are fools, and are the worst of the sinners."?
See, to me, if God DOES exist, as he made me with the ability to process ideas and intricate them into critical thought, he would beMOST pleased that I am evaluating all the evidence before coming to a conclusion that the evidence does, or does not point to. I'm using his systems better than you.
@screat let's see... 1-2-3-... gimme a while, I'll have my answer once I've combed the entirety of civilization's historical records, probably not that many actually. WW1 and 2 weren't over Christianity, they were over the french and the jews(not Christians). There were the Crusades, but that was really only over a pathetic lump of land. The Inquisition was more of a 'witch hunt', not a war. We'd have to go look through the Holy Book, maybe King James Version, or latin version to be sure...?
@lightbriareos if your kid says that there is a monster under their bed, how do you know that there isnt? what process do you go through in your mind to deturmine monsters under the bed are fantasy? ill bet youve never thought about it, right? it may just come as instinct, but really think about it and put a logical thought process behind it. can you? i would like to hear it. I (for the sake of argument only) am claiming the monster is real. how do you make me see its not?
@SuperAthiest1 Well, I know this is to try and trap me into making me look like an idiot and going into 'defense mode tron-BLARGH!' but I'm gonna take your bait anyways. :)
I would say... depends on your age. If you're a full-grown adult, not much help use, you're only afraid of the dark, and your personal demons and devils.
if you are a 2-14 year old, I would come in and comfort you, as Jesus would have done. I would sing a praise to the Lord and tell you that God is bigger and will protect you
@SuperAthiest1 continued: I would also show the kid-you the underside of the bed, clean out all of your toys and stuff and shine the bright light to show you that there're no monsters under the bed. It would have to be later on that I would explain that it is just the demons and devils that you carry, but you'd have to be older to comprehend what it is that they are that scares you so much.
I walk through the valley of death, but I shall fear no evil for I walk in the shadow of the Lord God.tyvm
@lightbriareos so monsters are so insane to believe in, but carrying demons and devils with you that ARE real and make you halucinate monsters under your bed that also can not be seen are rationally sound. i dont think i will ever understand belief without evidence. ive said it before, but the only difference between knowledge and belief is evidence. knowledege from faith isnt possible. belief+evidence=knowledge. other religions carry just as much faith as you, so are they all equally right?
@SuperAthiest1 oh, I'm sorry, we found the tomb, but the rock was rolled away and the body of Christ was talkin with hundreds of people for a few days, showing off his gnarly hand-piercings, dude.
I'm also sorry, that our Christianity is still being looked into after only 200 years of searching. May be another two hundred before we have all the evidence uncovered from Jerusalem and Israel, very much like the artifacts found a couple months ago. Metal cards depicting Jesus' miracles. =^,^=
@lightbriareos humans as we know them have been on this planet for about 100 thousand years.
"Christ was talkin with hundreds of people for a few days" surely historians of the day (2000 years ago) would have documented that. can you find any writings about it not in the bible? if a modern magician was around 2000 years ago, we would be reading about his "miracles" too. people back then believed in dragons and seamonsters, and believed that rainbows were created by god. now we know better.
@SuperAthiest1 about your last few sentences. People didn't believe in Dragons or seamonsters until later on. From records in the Bible, fishermen had no fear of such things. Maybe storms, but not sea monsters or dragons.
And Super, historians back then were pretty much scribes and religious folk. the scribes normally died off, and their papyrus documents decayed into dust and mold for the next hundred plus years. The only documents kept alive through re-writing was the pre-Bible scrolls. hooah!
@lightbriareos so why didnt the egyptians mention your god on the 10,000 year old sculptures found by modern historians? if it was all passed down from adam and eve just over 6000 years ago, how did people exist before that and have no knowledge of any of it? how do you know that the egyptians were wrong in their beliefs? those beliefs are way older than yours. not to mention the acuracy they predicted things like the exact amount of time in a year. we found they were right scientificly.
Okay, I'm done laughing now, hahaha, I'm sorry, your entire reply makes me laugh, I'm sorry, it's just, too funny!
Okay now.. I'm calm. Super, have you ever really read in-depth about the Egyptians? What all of your history books in school, or homeschool, or regular library books said about them? what was uncovered, and what was known? What archeological digs and more have uncovered and common knowledge?
@lightbriareos yeah.....those retards said that a year was 365.2422 days long. they (as well as the myans) predicted eclipses that came thousands of years after the end of their civilization. they were right. i am not saying that their beliefs in an afterlife were true, but i do understand why you find that funny. 67% of the world (the non-christians) think that about you, so laugh it up, i know i will. dead people walking. virgins pregnant. walking on water. living in a fish. bahahahahaha!!!!!
@hempartist420 huh? Wha? What're you on about? Ah... this, I haven't seen it in MONTHS. Hmm, kinda gave up on trying to deal with obsessive compulsive athiests who know very little and find belief in nothing. What you cannot seem to comprehend is that True-Belief in God(Christianity) comes from Half Science and Half Emotion.
What Super Athiest(which is mispelled btw) only seems to have done is gotten 10Voteups, and nothing more. Not a lot of people give a care about this anymore. Atheist. :P
@lightbriareos well you definitely can't argue with people who have no interest in knowledge or in the understanding the universe. I do value these things however, and I'm so much happier trying to understand things and investigating instead of how I was as a christian who proud of his ignorance, and claimed to know things he really didn't.
@hempartist420 Comprehension is in the eye of the beholder, and in the hands of the one holding the lights in front of your eyes. Personally, I don't do the whole Freemasons or Catholic Church thing so I'm happy not being a part of them. Considering that they praise the human woman who was simply the flask to hold to the catalyst for 9 months... I don't claim to know every little thing, but there are things that I know that others are just as blind to. The Christian-haters for example...
@hempartist420 you must also remember that during the dark ages, it wasn't mostly the 'non-believers' and 'real witches' who got burned at the stake. It was people like myself. People with yearnings to Believe in Christ in our own ways, without the mother, without tithing the pope. So you think yourself smart when it comes to those times and see how many people or which side of the story REALLY got burned... How many died to bring you to America. How many died to give you True-Freedom...
@lightbriareos lol what a crock of horseshit, yes christians were persecuted like everyone else before they came to power, but the dark ages were the dark ages BECAUSE the sadistic christians came to power. by only doing what their shitty books require, dark age christians who only wanted to torture people in dungeons during the inquisition, and invade the middle east. Who cares, you're not being persecuted now are you, because you live in a SECULAR country, rights you have DESPITE christianity.
@hempartist420 That, my fellow, is your opinion. And the Roman Catholic Church is not Christian. They refuse to outright Believe in Christ, they would have their members Believe in the men and women who lived AROUND Christ. They believe only in their money, in their Mother Mary, in all the 'wise' people who MIGHT have gone to heaven, and those who went to fight against the Now-Muslim threat. The Incquisition was the harshest response to those who did not believe in their Pope. Much to learnyoudo
lmao, Roman Catholics were the only christians that even existed for hundreds of years protestantism is a subset of it, seriously, are you retarded?
btw, no public school is keeping kids from bringing candy canes to school, idiot, what does candy canes have to do with christianity anyway? where does the bible talk about fucking candy canes?
@hempartist420 Wow. You need help, and you need to go back to school. Any school, really. You also need to watch the news more often, especially around the elementary/highschool ranges of news. Either you never paid attention in school or... I don't know, I'd really rather not guess what your mama and papa did to you to stint your growth... By the way, we're all adults here, and we're all civil, yea? No need for lewd language. Unless you're really just as young and stupid as I think you are...?
@lightbriareos care to elaborate on why I need a proper education? I'm pretty sure you are the one saying incredibly stupid things, and I am the one pointing them out.
btw usually don't use "lewd language" toward other people unless they've said something so incredibly stupid(e.g. "The Roman Catholics are not christian") that I have to impress the severity of their own stupidity upon them through the use of expletives.
@hempartist420 If you think that the Roman Catholics are wholly Christian, although they, in every which way, avoid ever praying to Him, if they can so help it, then please, feel free to debate this FACT. When you're too afraid to pray to your own God directly just because you think he 'might get angry oh noes!' then your faith must be stifled, severely.
If you didn't know this fact: Roman Catholic Church is the biggest BANK in the world. They could fix all the monetary issues in the world now..
@hempartist420 that 'church' as they call it, is nothing of the sort, save for praising money, praising people who praise only their own money and make all the issues in the world. And they WERE NOT the first 'christian' church. That would be the home where all the 12 Disciples Hid after Jesus' death, where Mary and the others who were close praised his death and resurrection. You are a fool in need of learning in these subjects, before you open your mouth/hands again on it. Open your mind.

TheBrideage 2 months ago
@TheBrideage I think I mentioned that...? Maybe, but yeah. A lot of people get the impression that during the Incquisition that it was mostly 'non-Christians' when a greater 90% or more of them were Christ-Believing people of the faith who simply thought differently than from the Roman-Catholic Church... I took some Homeschool learning and learned this especially well. Collegiate History also mentions this. Course... a lot of historians like to overlook it since it is such a dark history...

TheBrideage 2 months ago
@TheBrideage For a person to say that something was created by a God has been done with just about everything that was not made by humans at one point or another. Including famin, disease, weather, landscapes, grass, rocks, animals, etc... Science has dispelled almost all of it in the last few hundred years. So just because it is not completely explained YET, it actually does humanity a disservice by giving it the "God created it" label.

What purpose does that serve other than to make you feel like you've won something?
zoeyjusko 9 months ago
@zoeyjusko Whether it's someone's personal reason or not, there is good reason to break people's faiths, particularly in the monotheistic religions. Polytheism (and whatever the hell Buddhism is classified as...) I have no issues with at all, but monotheism is an evil that plagues this planet. Just think of the things going on today. Gay rights, abortion rights, women's rights.... well,.. I guess it's mostly human rights that monotheism steps on the most... and education takes quite a hit too.
skywize 7 months ago
@skywize I know you're right. The religious mentality is a very scarey and dangerous thing. It does step on human rights. I guess I'm just reluctant to fight against it because I've been so saturated with Christianity my whole life. It's hard to let go of that fear. I feel like I'm just now waking up. It's not easy.
zoeyjusko 7 months ago
@skywize Please don't get down on Buddhism. It was through meditation, looking inside myself, where I finally started to realize that religion is bad. I have health problems and when I'm hurting, I still pray to Jesus. It makes me feel better. I feel like I'm done with Orthodox Christianity, but it's very hard to let go. It's all I've ever know. I'm working on it.
zoeyjusko 7 months ago
@zoeyjusko Either you misread the statement, or I wrote it wrong. I have nothing against Buddhism. I just don't know how to classify it without any gods, lol. I quite like Buddhism, though it's not for me. I have nothing against polytheism either. I was a Pagan for almost a decade. There is beauty and peace in it. I just don't believe in the gods. I understand about the meditation. As a Pagan, I would spend hours in the woods meditating by a little brook.

If we remove the need to believe and base our lives on what we know, I feel this would be a good foundation to move forward in life. I hope I never do.
zan300 10 months ago
@zan300 I agree, but I believe this can be accomplished without religion entirely. Simple fables can teach a child morals and life lessons. Why should we need a bible filled with horrifying acts by a truly malicious deity?

thetrazor 10 months ago
@zephranna01 because you think something is true does not make it true. maybe it does in your own personal reality. that's fine, you can think and believe whatever you want. but you have to recognise that your personal beliefs on the subject of what constitues a religion does not actually coincide with what makes something a religion. you're making up your own definition and then using that definition to mislabel things as religions. define it however you want, but it doesn't make it correct.
a10miletooth 10 months ago
@zephranna01 that doesn't constitute a religion, sorry, but you don't understand the structure required within to make a religion. a person can say something is their religion but that in it of itself does not make what they claim to be their religion, an actual religion. there's a difference. people love sports, true. it is not true, however, that people loving sports makes sports a religion. understanding a simple concept like that shouldn't be beyond you. if it is, i'm sorry to hear that.
a10miletooth 10 months ago
@zephranna01 then you have no idea what constitutes as a religion and should educate yourself in that regard.
a10miletooth 10 months ago
@zephranna01 by that reasoning you can call anything a religion. examples: people who like the color red the most are a religion. people who enjoy reading over watching television are a religion. people who don't like dogs are a religion.... do you get where this is going? rejecting a claim is not a religion. anything in the absense of dogma cannot be considered a religion. "just because it doesn't fit the conventional descriptions (of religion) doesn't mean you can't call it that." yes it does.
a10miletooth 10 months ago

My actions would never take me as far as into jail... cuz i am not and will never be a criminal...

@zephranna01 Buddhism = no deity
Taoism = no deity
Lol.
BigLundi 10 months ago
@zephranna01 Religion is a cultural system that creates powerful and long-lasting meaning, by establishing symbols that relate humanity to beliefs and values. Atheism does none of that. Credit to wiki for that little explanation as to religion. Deities have nothing to do with religion. And no, we don't worship. 8-D
carmium 10 months ago
@zephranna01 ...and you base this on? Oh yes, a compendium of bronze-age eastern legends and prophecies written by ignorant desert-dwellers with no understanding of history or science. Oh yes, and the fact that you personally like the idea. How could I be so foolish as to dismiss such hard-core evidence? I must fall on my knees and beg forgiveness next chance I get. 8-\

@zephranna01 Well, that's your choice in a free country. But it IS a knee-slapper! X-D

It's not relevant.
rokuteam 1 year ago
@rokuteam There are wonderful things in that bible, but there are horrible things as well. Being inspired by a story, and believing it are two different things. I could be inspired by the will of Christ as he is put to the cross, but I could never imagine that a deity that slaughters people by the thousands could ever be good. There are better places to find inspiration, like polytheism, or the cosmos.
skywize 7 months ago
@skywize As far as polytheism or the cosmos, I am not certain of those examples, but I accept that God may communicate to others in many forms and it is not my place to judge you for that (Matthew 7:1-5).
rokuteam 7 months ago
@skywize I greatly appreciate that you see some inspiration in the Bible. It is much better to be inspired, than to insist on a literal interpretation and fail to be inspired. Many insist on a completely literal interpretation, but fail to be inspired. I encourage you to continue to find the passages that reach you.
rokuteam 7 months ago
@rokuteam I have not been inspired by the bible, but I can see how someone might. Though I see the good, it is meaningless to me when consumed by all the bad. I do like the idea of faith without religion. Deism, I think is beautiful. It is the idea of a god or creator with no story, no rules, or dogma. Basically, imagine your own god. "I denounce anyone who claims to be a leader of an ideology I hold personal." -RyuOni1989
skywize 7 months ago
@skywize As I mentioned earlier, the Bible is a collection of books not a single book in itself. The earlier books of the Old Testament were told to a very primative society. Just like small misbehaving children, they were motivated by fear rather reason. The books Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy are all about laying down the law - not particularly inspiring. They dealt with basic hygene, etc. I get much more out of the Gospels, Matthew Chapters 5 - 7 in particular, epistles & Proverbs.
rokuteam 7 months ago
@rokuteam This is rare, but I will concede that point. You are right. A book of 'short' stories should not be taken as a whole. There are a few books of story collections I have read that I've hated some and adored others. I am a scifi geek and love reading science fiction short stories.
skywize 7 months ago
@skywize Great analogy!. I like science fiction myself. I don't read much of it, but I watch it in television and movies. This is why I am not a big believer in trying to reconcile Biblical history with scientific discovery. There is no way that a primitive society could comprehend the science we know today (and still don't know) so why would one expect early Bible stories to be literally scientifically accurate? The message would have gotten lost in the detail.
rokuteam 7 months ago
@rokuteam I guess i think of the story of god and Christ the same way as that of Arthur Pendragon. I don't know if the man actually existed, there seems to be debate one way or another. I don't really care if he did or not. The stories of him are as conflicting and unbelievable of those in the bible. I still adore the basic story and find him fastening and awe inspiring. Yes, in some stories he was a crusader, but there is much to be learned from and inspired by.
skywize 7 months ago
@skywize You certainly have a right to believe or not believe as you choose. As for me, my faith and practicing the teachings in the Bible works well for me and I can offer testimony to that. If something works for me, I share it just like anything else. I really enjoyed the dialog though and I appreciate your willingness to listen to my point of view and try to understand it even though it may not agree with your own. That speaks well of you.
rokuteam 7 months ago
@rokuteam I see no reason to scoff at someone for their beliefs, but I do see good reason to add my two cents in when I consider them a danger. Also, I like hearing different takes on things like this. I am something of a student of the human psyche and love hearing why people think as they do. I have limits to my own and it is interesting to me to hear about others.

@theageofgrace So your belief is based on selfish motives?

@theageofgrace,
"But if all you have is achievements that wont (sic) benefit you after you die what worth is that!" Who cares if one's achievements don't benefit one after one is dead? The point is that they are of benefit and worth something while one is alive. You make it sound like the only reason to do good things is so that you can get rewarded for it later on or so you won't be punished. How about doing good things because they are simply the right thing to do?

Atheism is just... gah... Find something... Anything to believe in... FSM... Ffs
krutcheshobb 1 year ago
@krutcheshobb We do :D
BigLundi 1 year ago
@BigLundi Buddhism isnt truly atheism, Agnosism is only a belief when they fall over onto that side, Darwinism is a Theory, while beliefs are based on faith, Materialism is just... There. Atheism means No Belief, A - no, Theism- is the belief that at least one deity exists, If you believe in something call yourselves something more than just atheism, for Atheists do not believe in anything by their name.
krutcheshobb 1 year ago
@krutcheshobb Buddhists don't have a beleif in god's existence. Hence, atheists.
Agnosticism is by definition, a particular lack of beleifs in god, it is atheistic in nature.
Darwinism is primarily atheist, though I will admit many christians are beginning to admit evolution is a strong possibility. Materialism is the belief in what you can see, feel, and scientifically prove, which is, in essence ,the very foundation of atheistic ideas.
What is YOUR definition of atheism? :)
BigLundi 1 year ago
@BigLundi Already gave you the true definition of the word its latin, meaning No Belief A means no, theism is belief... So Believing in nothing. If you believe any of what you stated you are what you stated, not an atheist. If you have no belief whatsoever you are an atheist. That is the true definition, if people dont use words properly why not call the sky Fredrich? Atheism means no belief, Buddhism have an afterlife belief and a spiritual connection hence not atheism. Darwinism is science.
krutcheshobb 1 year ago
@krutcheshobb Allow me to go to the Webster's dictionary, possibly the most reliable definition giver. And if you claim to know better then Webster's...then lol.
Archaically it used to mean ungodliness, or wickedness.
Modern definitions state the following. Atheism - A disbelief in the existence of deity.
Nowhere on there does it say we don't believe in the afterlife. It says we disbelieve in the existence of deity. Bhuddhists don't believe in the existence of deity. Atheists.
BigLundi 1 year ago
@krutcheshobb To continue, I'm willing to concede Darwinism is a science, but it is still a belief. A belief, mind you, many atheists share. It's not a CORE Atheist belief, but many atheists DO believe in it. Also, you didn't talk about Materialism :P.
BigLundi 1 year ago
@BigLundi Materialism, Its a belief, but not atheism, because they have a belief... Lawl, True lots of atheists believe in darwinism, but many of my synagogue believe it too. It doesnt doubt the belief of god, just changes Moses' Depiction. The bible is only written for moral guidance anyways, God is like Golem from lord of the rings, if he exists he speaks in riddles. :P
krutcheshobb 1 year ago
@krutcheshobb Well yeah, but that's not what you were talking about xD. Atheists DO have beliefs, just not specifically in the existence of god. Other than that, there's LOADS of stuff we believe in, Materialism, Darwinism, blah blah blah, the list REALLY DOES go on. We have opinions on lots of stuff and lots more stuff too. Now you MIGHT be thinking about Nihilists, who view human nature as an illusion, and refuse to feel, because all emotion is an illusion, those people can be...pretty weird.
BigLundi 1 year ago
@BigLundi I understand what your definition of atheism is, but the word is just so annoying... Besides the concept of no afterlife or some form of creation is just... Too dark... Depressing, so depressing it couldnt exist lawl. I just like to troll sometimes, you sir are a worthy opponent.
krutcheshobb 1 year ago
@krutcheshobb All in good fun, and for the lulz. Not MY definition by the way, that's Merriam Webster's :P. Why be depressed by a word anyway? Just a disbelief in god isn't depressing unless you personaly allow it to be. I am an atheist, I've told my family, my friends, and I'm happy. Nothing wrong with it. Least you're not one of those, "IF YOU DONT BEIEVE IN GOD YOU'RE OK WITH BABY RAPE!" types of people.
BigLundi 1 year ago
@BigLundi That quote reminded me of Eugene Mirmins Anti Gay Phone company, lawl. I used to be an atheist then I decided to dust off my Yamacha and eat a latke. :P religion is a choice in my country, dont know what the rest of the americans are thinking.
krutcheshobb 1 year ago
@krutcheshobb People like to push atheism under the carpet. Those that believe feel atheism is some sort of threat to their beliefs, a walking insult to everything they believe, and as such, looks at it as an enemy. Look at Fox News, every time Atheists come on the show or come up in the news...well...insults are thrown...a lot. I recall a direct quote from a rabbi that came on, "Atheists are parasites." Said O Reilly of his interview with Dawkins, "I feel I won." ...like he was debating...xD
BigLundi 1 year ago 25
@BigLundi Eh, you guys aint parasites, you're just people who took one of the many choices given to you in life. I chose what I was raised on, which is to Believe in God, Christ and the Holy Spirit. You've chosen to disbelieve everything that North America and Britain were supposedly raised from.
God gave you choice, you've taken it. :) There is only one way to Heaven, Through Christ Jesus. I will grieve for the loss of my atheist friends and acquaintances as I leave this life in the end. Amen.
lightbriareos 10 months ago
@lightbriareos No, the way into heaven is by Allah's good graces. Jesus isn't the prophet to follow, it is the almight Mohammed, peace be upon him. Him, Jesus, and Krishna all made a pact one day, called the godlihood of the Travelling Pants, and said that whoever has the craziest followers in the 21st century is the true religion. It just stands to reason.
BigLundi 10 months ago
@BigLundi Lol, You're funny, y'know that? And I know that it's useless to talk with you, but at least I'm willing to try and talk with you about it. ^.^ Mohammed was a well-meaning fellah, probably. It was when the Roman-Catholic Pope decided to end him that things got out of control.
I'm a Southern Baptist Christian in the U.S.A. and I speak out of peace, not bullshit :) Mind you, I dont mind the occassional tustle... :D All things in moderation... =^.^=
lightbriareos 10 months ago
@lightbriareos Well, you also assert the ONLY way into heaven is through Jesus Christ. Because you literally are perfectly ok wit hthe concept that those who don't believe as you do are going to burn eternally, I have no reason to treat you seriously. And to say Mohammed was a well meaning fellah explains that you don't know anything about Islam.
BigLundi 10 months ago
@BigLundi Eh... it's your choice, I'll mourn with the others, but, as God has made it, He gave us all Choice. As for Mohammed, he's dead and gone. Why should I worry about him anymore? I read enough to know that Islam is a war-bound religion, but that with the few, I can at least peacefully debate it against them. I know Christian-gone-Islamists, and I found them to be really nice people. I'll mourn their passing to Hell, but it was their choice. Life in God's son, or death in Hell. Up to you.^^
lightbriareos 10 months ago
@lightbriareos God you're weird. Why are you perfectly ok with a god that says "Anyone who doesn't believe in me will burn eternally, and are fools, and are the worst of the sinners."?
See, to me, if God DOES exist, as he made me with the ability to process ideas and intricate them into critical thought, he would beMOST pleased that I am evaluating all the evidence before coming to a conclusion that the evidence does, or does not point to. I'm using his systems better than you.
BigLundi 10 months ago 2
@lightbriareos dont mourn for us we'll be fine...LMAO...do you know how many wars have been fought over christianity?...Read some history!
screat 9 months ago

SuperAthiest1 9 months ago
@SuperAthiest1 Well, I know this is to try and trap me into making me look like an idiot and going into 'defense mode tron-BLARGH!' but I'm gonna take your bait anyways. :)
I would say... depends on your age. If you're a full-grown adult, not much help use, you're only afraid of the dark, and your personal demons and devils.
if you are a 2-14 year old, I would come in and comfort you, as Jesus would have done. I would sing a praise to the Lord and tell you that God is bigger and will protect you
lightbriareos 9 months ago
@SuperAthiest1 continued: I would also show the kid-you the underside of the bed, clean out all of your toys and stuff and shine the bright light to show you that there're no monsters under the bed. It would have to be later on that I would explain that it is just the demons and devils that you carry, but you'd have to be older to comprehend what it is that they are that scares you so much.
I walk through the valley of death, but I shall fear no evil for I walk in the shadow of the Lord God.tyvm
lightbriareos 9 months ago
@lightbriareos so monsters are so insane to believe in, but carrying demons and devils with you that ARE real and make you halucinate monsters under your bed that also can not be seen are rationally sound. i dont think i will ever understand belief without evidence. ive said it before, but the only difference between knowledge and belief is evidence. knowledege from faith isnt possible. belief+evidence=knowledge. other religions carry just as much faith as you, so are they all equally right?
SuperAthiest1 9 months ago
@SuperAthiest1 oh, I'm sorry, we found the tomb, but the rock was rolled away and the body of Christ was talkin with hundreds of people for a few days, showing off his gnarly hand-piercings, dude.
I'm also sorry, that our Christianity is still being looked into after only 200 years of searching. May be another two hundred before we have all the evidence uncovered from Jerusalem and Israel, very much like the artifacts found a couple months ago. Metal cards depicting Jesus' miracles. =^,^=
lightbriareos 9 months ago
@lightbriareos humans as we know them have been on this planet for about 100 thousand years.
"Christ was talkin with hundreds of people for a few days" surely historians of the day (2000 years ago) would have documented that. can you find any writings about it not in the bible? if a modern magician was around 2000 years ago, we would be reading about his "miracles" too. people back then believed in dragons and seamonsters, and believed that rainbows were created by god. now we know better.
SuperAthiest1 9 months ago
@SuperAthiest1 about your last few sentences. People didn't believe in Dragons or seamonsters until later on. From records in the Bible, fishermen had no fear of such things. Maybe storms, but not sea monsters or dragons.
And Super, historians back then were pretty much scribes and religious folk. the scribes normally died off, and their papyrus documents decayed into dust and mold for the next hundred plus years. The only documents kept alive through re-writing was the pre-Bible scrolls. hooah!
lightbriareos 9 months ago
@lightbriareos so why didnt the egyptians mention your god on the 10,000 year old sculptures found by modern historians? if it was all passed down from adam and eve just over 6000 years ago, how did people exist before that and have no knowledge of any of it? how do you know that the egyptians were wrong in their beliefs? those beliefs are way older than yours. not to mention the acuracy they predicted things like the exact amount of time in a year. we found they were right scientificly.

What Super Athiest(which is mispelled btw) only seems to have done is gotten 10Voteups, and nothing more. Not a lot of people give a care about this anymore. Atheist. :P
lightbriareos 2 months ago
@lightbriareos well you definitely can't argue with people who have no interest in knowledge or in the understanding the universe. I do value these things however, and I'm so much happier trying to understand things and investigating instead of how I was as a christian who proud of his ignorance, and claimed to know things he really didn't.
hempartist420 2 months ago
@hempartist420 Comprehension is in the eye of the beholder, and in the hands of the one holding the lights in front of your eyes. Personally, I don't do the whole Freemasons or Catholic Church thing so I'm happy not being a part of them. Considering that they praise the human woman who was simply the flask to hold to the catalyst for 9 months... I don't claim to know every little thing, but there are things that I know that others are just as blind to. The Christian-haters for example...
lightbriareos 2 months ago
@hempartist420 you must also remember that during the dark ages, it wasn't mostly the 'non-believers' and 'real witches' who got burned at the stake. It was people like myself. People with yearnings to Believe in Christ in our own ways, without the mother, without tithing the pope. So you think yourself smart when it comes to those times and see how many people or which side of the story REALLY got burned... How many died to bring you to America. How many died to give you True-Freedom...
lightbriareos 2 months ago
@lightbriareos lol what a crock of horseshit, yes christians were persecuted like everyone else before they came to power, but the dark ages were the dark ages BECAUSE the sadistic christians came to power. by only doing what their shitty books require, dark age christians who only wanted to torture people in dungeons during the inquisition, and invade the middle east. Who cares, you're not being persecuted now are you, because you live in a SECULAR country, rights you have DESPITE christianity.
hempartist420 2 months ago
@hempartist420 That, my fellow, is your opinion. And the Roman Catholic Church is not Christian. They refuse to outright Believe in Christ, they would have their members Believe in the men and women who lived AROUND Christ. They believe only in their money, in their Mother Mary, in all the 'wise' people who MIGHT have gone to heaven, and those who went to fight against the Now-Muslim threat. The Incquisition was the harshest response to those who did not believe in their Pope. Much to learnyoudo
lightbriareos 2 months ago
@lightbriareos "Roman Catholic Church is not Christian"
lmao, Roman Catholics were the only christians that even existed for hundreds of years protestantism is a subset of it, seriously, are you retarded?
btw, no public school is keeping kids from bringing candy canes to school, idiot, what does candy canes have to do with christianity anyway? where does the bible talk about fucking candy canes?
hempartist420 2 months ago
@hempartist420 Wow. You need help, and you need to go back to school. Any school, really. You also need to watch the news more often, especially around the elementary/highschool ranges of news. Either you never paid attention in school or... I don't know, I'd really rather not guess what your mama and papa did to you to stint your growth... By the way, we're all adults here, and we're all civil, yea? No need for lewd language. Unless you're really just as young and stupid as I think you are...?
lightbriareos 2 months ago
@lightbriareos care to elaborate on why I need a proper education? I'm pretty sure you are the one saying incredibly stupid things, and I am the one pointing them out.
btw usually don't use "lewd language" toward other people unless they've said something so incredibly stupid(e.g. "The Roman Catholics are not christian") that I have to impress the severity of their own stupidity upon them through the use of expletives.
hempartist420 2 months ago
@hempartist420 If you think that the Roman Catholics are wholly Christian, although they, in every which way, avoid ever praying to Him, if they can so help it, then please, feel free to debate this FACT. When you're too afraid to pray to your own God directly just because you think he 'might get angry oh noes!' then your faith must be stifled, severely.
If you didn't know this fact: Roman Catholic Church is the biggest BANK in the world. They could fix all the monetary issues in the world now..
lightbriareos 2 months ago
@hempartist420 that 'church' as they call it, is nothing of the sort, save for praising money, praising people who praise only their own money and make all the issues in the world. And they WERE NOT the first 'christian' church. That would be the home where all the 12 Disciples Hid after Jesus' death, where Mary and the others who were close praised his death and resurrection. You are a fool in need of learning in these subjects, before you open your mouth/hands again on it. Open your mind.
